Help Help with Dr.Cid (first time)

I am having the hardest time wiht this guy!!! I have played all the FF but for some reason this guy is a major pain. I tried 5 times and I cant beat him at all. Can someone helpe on what I am doing wrong??

My charc:
Vaan: lvl 40 - 3 mist
Basch: lvl 33 - 2 mist
Balthier: 34 - 1 mist
Ashe: lvl 32 - 2 mist
Fran: lvl 32 - 2 mist
Penlo: lvl 32 - 2 mist


I dont have dispel or any x-potions. I have 1 elixer. This is waht I do:

I have ashe, fran and penlo start off with a quickining, usually kill one rook, then switch for the boys and attacking the other rooks. Then when im down to 2 I do another quickining, (but most of magik is used). I can kill the two rooks and face Dr.Cid but he hits to hard and fast. By the time i recover he has already taken all the health down!!! Im soo fustrated at this guy!!!

Now im just running around the building and lvling my guys!

Im so fustrated that I put the game away......at leat gears of wars can keep my happy

any inputs would be great.

Hmm...yeah you have to focus your attention on the rooks and kill them off first like you said. But other than that there's no really special tricks or tips I can think of.

Have you kept haste casted on all your party members?? That always helps tremendously.

Other than that, there's the good old leveling up but at your level I don't think you should be having too much of a problem! :P
 
I always had three main people at mostly high levels. also, I recommend not using quickenings AT ALL! they waste way too much mana that could be used for healing/damage purposes. I, also, did not use the various statuses so I had it a bit rough, but even then it was kinda easy, just make sure you dispel Cid at first and kill all the rooks off first.
 
Thanks for the advice but for some reason he always seems to wipe me out. I have haste and regan on but when i use the quickings i do lose all the mana so maybe i should try no quickings...hmmm

Ill try again. My levels are fine but i think the hps are low. Ashe and penlo are around 1400...so four shots from the Cids gun takes them out.

Maybe i needed some break and ill try again.

my party was Vaan, Basch and Ashe. I had Vaan and Basch on perpetual attack pretty much, with Ashe as my healer, I mean, she still attacked, but was mostly busy with the healing. Vaan(party leader) was also a part-time healer when Ashe was busy with something else. So, I suggest that you try something like that as well. Try to level up more though, and make sure at least one of your characters has light armor so that they have massive health and are more likely to survive.
 
I pity you have to go through that scene everytime. Anyway...

Make sure in your gambits you have the "target group leader's target" or whatever. This will ensure you don't attack Cid and just focus on the Rooks with all of your characters. After that, switch your leader to the character you are going to use to continuously attack. Make sure your leader is attacking the Rooks, and your characters will follow. Don't use Quickenings, there's really no point. Use one of your secondary characters as your healer, having that character armed with the Rose Corsage, (to prevent Silence.)

This is a pretty long fight. As long as you are kept healed by your mage, you shouldn't have any problems. If your mage gets low on MP, just switch to another character with a good amount of MP left.

Update:

Again thanks for all the advice guys. I tried one of the strategies mentioned above and it really helped out. I quickined with my back three and then just pounded away with my main three....no quickings. The MP helped me heal all the time.
