It's a bit random, but I'm genuinely curious here. My t.v. remote has started to stop working with the batteries in them, but there's still enough power in them that I can still wait a bit before I dig out a second set.

And then I realized: I never once changed the batteries in the remote since I got it with my television, FIVE YEARS AGO o_O

Is that common? I understand that there are some decent capabilities with batteries, but 5 years, really?

lol

I've had the same batteries in my TV remote for 7 years. I just had to change them a weak ago. I couldn't press more than one number to get to a channel. I thought it was broken and then I switched the batteries just to test and it worked perfectly.

It depends on how much button smashing you do or searching. That's what the DirecTV dude told my father and mother. xD

So I think its pretty common. My parents have a TV set and its had the same batteries for five years (We took their remote five years ago and they got a new one five years ago.).

Our old T.V never had a remote so I can't really say.

But with our new T.V, we've only had it for a year and the batteries are still going strong.

The ones we always had problems with was the XBOX 360 controllers. That's pretty obvious as to why we would always have to change those though. >.<

My family has actually never had to change remote batteries before. We usually watch T.V. late at night and it's basically the same channel. We've also used the same remote and T.V. for at least 10 years.
I have the feeling that right after I post this, the remote is going to run out of batteries:vikki:.

my old tv still has the batteries in the remote from 5 years ago, though i do have to constantly take them out and rub a bit of life in to them, im just too fucking lazy. I always save old batteries for tv remotes as well, they just seem to go on forever
