I know this probably makes me sound like a complete idiot, but I really don't know how! I've looked around a lot and I haven't found a site that actually tells me how to do it. Is there a specific button? I've tried pretty much all of them, so I'm really confused. :[ Please help!

I'll move this over to the help booth for you

anyway, when you have selected your first quickening and get the animation sequence you will see a timer and buttons X Triangle and square, you need to press them as they appear for the quickening/mist charge within the timer, if its all greyed out, keep pressing R2 or R1 (cant remember which) until you have an option to select something

Its a pain in the arse and I'm shite at it

Hope that helps, although I'm sure someone will be able to explain it better than me :wacky:

Also, don't feel stupid, it took me to getting way past Raithwals tomb before I realised how to do it <_< Then I was like ohhh I can go back and kick that demon walls head in.

I'll do my best. :neomon:

First, a little primer on how Quickenings work. Each member of your party has a certain number of Mist Charges, based on how many Quickening tiles you've unlocked on the license board. On that note, each character has three Quickenings, with levels 1-3. Each level corresponds to a number of Mist Charges that are expended when a Quickening is used in combat. So, using Basch's Level 1 uses one Mist Charge, while using his Level 3 uses three. Also remember that a decent chain is going to really almost be impossible until you get at least Level 2's for each of your active party members.

Now, when you open the action menu in combat, you select "Mist" then whichever of your available Quickenings you want to use. You'll now enter the Quickening screen.

Quickenings work a lot like a slot machine of sorts, with four possibilities for each of your party members. Those are: Level1, Level2, Level3, and Mist Charge. The idea is this: once you expend your Mist Charges performing a particular Quickening, you'll want to refill your Mist Charges whenever you get the chance, so that you can spend them again on new attacks. However, there's only a 1/4 chance that the Mist Charge command will even appear...so you need to press R2, which is a lot like "pulling the level" of a slot machine, so to speak. R2 gives each party member a new set of commands, which might include Mist Charge. So, keep pressing R2 until you see Mist Charge, then press the corresponding button.

Beyond that, it just takes a lot of practice. Like I said before, it'll be quite difficult to really start a good chain until all your active party members have at least level 2...if not level 3. This is becacuse while you are unable to perform Level 2 and 3 Quickenings...the commands still appear when you try to perform the chain.

Hope this helps

First things first, you got to learn a quickening on the license board for as many characters as possible to increase chance. Then press X when fighting an enemy and select mist then quickenings and select which one you want. When the character is performing the action you may see names and button icons in the bottom right corner. Which ever is highlighted is the one you can use to chain so hurry and press the correct button and you should chain. If no names are highlighted press R2 to try and get one. You can press R2 as many times as you want but you only have a select time to do the chain.

Just had a look on Youtube, found this, may help more seeing it done with instructions at the same time:
