Rather than a re-imagining of the story of FFXII (because, as we all know, that story is sufficiently awesome) this would a re-telling of or an original story based upon the Thousand Year War between the Scions of Darkness (the Espers) and the Occuria. It'd be set quite a while before the events of FFXII.
Playable characters would include both the Scions of Darkness and Light (assuming anyone want to play those, anyway...since no information is given about them asides who they oppose and their names, they're practically OCs) and there would be scope to include current leaders of the different areas of Ivalice, as well...or just random people, if you'd prefer. Occuria involvement would need to be kept to subtle manipulation though, considering they are essentially GODS. For the sake of interaction and whatnot, Espers and everyone else could have a human form, as well.
The RP would start before the rebellion (in fact, through the course of the story Ultima would probably recruit the others to her cause) and the eventual objective would be to free Zodiark from Occuria control, and then kill them all.
I'm still working out the kinks, but I thought I'd toss the idea out here for inspection. Anyone even vaguely interested? xD
