It's never what you expect it to be. People often like to talk about how cool it would be to have an adventure, or go out and see the world. Truth is though, when you get what you wish for..it's never what you expect it to be. Sure, there are the thrill seekers out there, but at the end of the day, what people really want is a sense of meaning. That they want their life to feel like it's worth a damn.
Cody finally was feeling that. He'd hit a high note in his life, he was a rich CEO of an animation and comics company, and he has embraced that ultimately:he is a nerd. And he's fine with that. He had spent his younger years in football and body building, but he'd come to learn what he really wanted in life, and now he had been happily embracing it. Then this vacation happened. A cruise ship of magnificent beauty it was well over 20 feet wide and full of rooms and all kinds of luxurious things. The best part? The lower decks were affordable for the less wealthy, which made him happy as sometimes the fellow wealthy were too snooty for his tastes. Not that it mattered much anyways, it was all chill for him. That is...until now.
The first thing he felt was blood dripping from his forehead. He'd been blacked out for who knows how long. Then he felt the salt-water hitting his minor head injury, which hurt a lot and woke him up quickly. He sat up, drenched in water on the shoreline of the beach. He saw lots of other people from the cruise had also washed ashore, but he doesn't even remember what happened. Last thing he DOES remember was being on the ship and all was fine. Next thing he knows, he's awoken on this beach. He groans deeply as he struggles to get up, his body aching for some reason.
As he walks over to another member of the cruise ship. A doctor of all things, nicknamed Brody. He sits down next to him as Brody comes to.
"Any idea where we are doc?"
Brody shakes his head,"No idea. Any idea what happened?"
Cody shook his head,"Not a clue. Last thing I remember was being on the ship and nothing being wrong, what about you?"
Brody shrugged,"the same. I think both of us must've gone through something so traumatic, we've temporarily blocked it out. Something we don't want to remember."
Cody shuddered,"That's reassuring."
Brody grinned and then groaned.
Cody looked concerned," what's wrong?"
Brody sighed,"I've broken my leg. I'm a doctor, I can handle it."
Cody sighed as he looked around at the other crew members who were waking up as well. What now?
