so, i just got my PS3 and so far i really like the extra features & such. only thing i do not like is the lack of games for the system.

I had gotten Virtua Fighter 5. It's okay.

What were your thoughts when you first got yours?

I had my father go and buy one of the MGS4 PS3's for my brother's birthday gift. [Though, I plan on using it, too.] And, well...so far, it's just been sitting, in the box, on my living room couch. My brother doesn't play MGS, so he won't get much use out of that, and we're just waiting on the cables to connect it to his HDTV [though my boyfriend offered to hook it all up for him without them.]

That's pretty much how it's been so far. xD "Yay, we got a PS3....let's just have it sit around and collect dust for a while."

I was just concerned about getting an 80 gig now, since they're discontinuing the backwards compatibility in the new models, and I don't want to have to use my PS2 every time I want to play a PS2 game.

Mine was unfortunately delivered the day that I was moving flat, so I got hardly any play out of it on the first few days, but I do recall losing a good three or so weeks to Virtua Fighter 5 afterwards, so it couldn't have been all bad. :P

It was annoying to update the firmware at first so I could have more backward compatibility, since our flat didn't have a router...<_<

Made it fiddly and irritating at first but I was happy enough since I had a good fighting game on hand.

Well...I Love my PS3, I love the wireless control especially, I also love that it doesn't use a damn point system, when you want to buy a game. The Microsoft point system is designed so that when you buy something you have useless points left over >.>(note im not saying it sucks).

But yeah the lack of games is something not to worry about, I can't wait for Final Fantasy XIII which is PS3 exclusive I think?

I agree that there aren't many games out for the system. I bought it for MGS4 though...very much worth it, one of the greatest games ever. I'd recommend that.
I'm guessing that since your on a FF forum you like RPG's. There's an 'somewhat' RPG game called Folklore, that's worth a look...I liked it at least, but maybe that's because of the lack of RPG's on the system I was willing to accept anything. I'd still recommend it though.
I LOVED Elder Scrolls, was a great game but its easy to overdo yourself on it and grow tired. There is a way to pretty much make yourself invincible...I got to the point where I couldn't die or be seen and therefore I grew tired of it.
Dunno, if your into GTA games, GTAIV is worth a rent...gets boring quickly though, thats why I just say a rent.

My dad gave me money to buy the 80gig PS3. I stood in line at the MGS4 midnight release. Since then, I've been waiting to get a damn 80gig since my birthday. I was so mad when they discontinued the 80gigs for a while.

My first thought getting one: "YAY! I finally got my birthday present... Well... at least my boyfriend will play it. Now I just have to wait for FFXIII, The Last Remnant, and a few other games."

After that I just watched my boyfriend play MGS4 since he's a huge fan. We switched consoles. I have more fun playing his xbox of course. I'm having a blast playing GTA 4. As a Playstation fan, I accept the fact that the Xbox 360 has a much better selection of games.

Well, when i bough mine, it cames with Resistence. So, as soon as i connect it to my TV i found a well made game, with an amazing online. So, i could say that i was pretty much satisfied with mine.

Then, by an unknown 'cause my PC die that day, and then i use the PS3 browser to read some pages and download music and play it. It was a pretty good first-impression =P

"Man...now I really wish I had Versus XIII."

"Oooooh, I can see myself in this thing. Shiny!"

"How do I turn this damn thing on? Oh! The buttons are touch activated!"

"If this thing breaks down like all the 360s tend to do, I'm gonna shit a brick."

"Once I beat Resistance and Ratchet & Clank, I wonder if this thing'll do much else than collect dust and cast shadows."

"Why's this damn USB cord so short!? I want to keep playing while charging my controller, but I don't want to sit a foot from the television."

Stuff like that.

Well, I just got my PS3 yesterday. I spent two days trying to find an 80gig, and I finally found a gamestop that had one left, so I got very lucky. I think it's really stupid that they're not making anymore of the systems with backwards compatibility, but I'm glad I got mine before it was too late.

Anyway, I like it so far. Like everyone else mentioned though, it's pretty much just sitting on my tv stand collecting dust right now.. I'm sure I'll get a lot of use out of it when some good games come out though.

i think this still counts i got mine at christmas but i just got online a wee while ago but the realy good thing is i'm doing this from my PS3 and i just gota keyboard compatable with it and my life is a whole lot easier.

First thing I thought was 'pretty', then 'fuck it's heavy' then 'this game is a big steaming pile of ghey' when I played Enchanted Arms (don't, don't ever get this game, you think Tidus is annoying?)

Then I got Resistance and thought 'Christ, I am really bloody shit at this'

The thing is, I can't really afford any games for it, so I will be saving up for Resi 5, FFXIII, but after 12 I think I'll rent before I buy and TR Underworld, which had better be harder than Legend.

I'm not going to touch Resistance 2 until I've had some serious training!

"It lacks a trophy system and good game" :monster:

But I got it a month after it came out in the UK so all that has been fixed now! Resistance was okay but I despised the online play which was a disappointment, but if you get Uncharted, MGS4 and R&C you're sorted especially for storyline wise (sorry, but that 360 has better exclusives is bs apart from Fable).

There was a dip in games I wanted over the past few months though, apart from MGS4. Now loads are coming out within the next few months and I don't have money! :gasp:

Well, Well, Well...
- "Sure this is heavy..."
- "How the Fuck do I turn this on?"
- "Okay, at least it's like the PSP's interface..."
- "Damn, this is getting so boring with only as many games..."

And the whole lot... XD

But yeah... it's only out there collecting dust... but... it ain't mine but my cousins', XD

Haha, those were the thought I had, almost exactly. Not quite in that order, but whatever.

I actually managed to get a PS3 on launch day, so I was excited about actually getting my hands on one. However, remembering the problems that plagued the 360 on its launch, I was concerned that I was throwing away $600.

Everything has worked out great. It hasn't broken yet, but then again, I haven't exactly been working it hard either (hasn't played an actual game since Uncharted). =\

Yes! Wasn't just me.

I bought my PS3 close to launch day as well. Sort of a bummer that we could buy one today for $400...though I hear they don't have backward capability. Without that, I'd NEVER turn mine on. Kinda makes me wonder why I had to have one.

Oh, well. I'll keep playing Kingdom Hearts and Dragon Quest VII, I guess.
