Last night I learned something new about the person I have been jamming with for the past month.

It would be really nice to meet some band mates who A) are not crackheads and B) are not Neo-Nazis. Or are my standards too high?

I feel like I am in a montage from some B-grade 80's movie. :ffs:

My brother is a semi famous musician. He's won battle of the bands here, gotten a record contract, etc.

And yeah, he does acid, weed, and other stuff.

All the successful musicians I've met or known of did drugs. Even the ones who played mellow music like reggae.

In terms of europe.... I get the impression people are starved for real leadership and have inferiority complexes in terms of subconsciously feeling like they can't compete with america. They're desperate for change & embrace Hitler as they believe he is the only one who could return a golden age to europe and allow it to compete with america and the west.

They want a strong and competitive europe & homeland and are willing to follow or believe in anyone they think can give it to them.

Maybe, it makes them easier to deal with if you understand where they're coming from?

The drugs thing itself is not the main thing. I've dappled with weed in the past.
But, it wasn't exactly the most comfortable environment when the bass player was arguing with some guy, who was the size of a fucking comic book villain, over money in a small, sealed room with crack pipes lying around.

I understand that they are generally nice guys and they have there own problems and shit but there are certain points where I draw the line and realise that I probably shouldn't be there.

Also people play shit when they are high. When I was younger I used to think that smoking weed would take my playing into new cosmic layers of reality...instead I was just to fucked to play anything.

While areas like Greece and Hungary are leaning towards the radical right, I think it's a bit self centered to say that it's because they feel inferior to the US.

and By Neo-Nazi I meant White supremacist. I saw some Nazi paraphernalia but I'm not sure if he is a full blown fascist or not. Considering his fascination with knives and his desire for a gun license I really don't think he is the kind of person I want to be associated with.

..and to top it off he's not that good at drums. :monster:

Also, for the record, I got also got the impression that you were implying that we were European. :hmmm:

You were implying either him or his new pal were, otherwise why talk about European Neo-nazis?

Neo-nazism is generally a european thing, moreso than it is an american, asian, or inuit thing.

Considering I was clearly talking about his purported neo-nazi friend in terms of europeanisms and not him.

Why would you think I implied he was european?

I would say: you're right, you probably shouldn't be there. ;))

But, honestly, my friend's uncle is in a reggae band and even he wound up getting into hard drugs. My brother does hard drugs. And, as far as I know, pretty much all musicians dabble in it at some point.

While crack--which is probably one of the worst drugs to be around in terms of those who use & abuse it, might be a good place to draw the line. If you plan to be a professional musician, you may want to get used to being around people who use drugs on a regular basis cause as far as I can tell its proliferated with it. -shrug-

Its not necessarily self-centered. :ness:

Why did europe form a European Union?

Maybe, they felt insecure about their arrangement and thought they would be better served in an arrangement closer to individual states which more closely emulated america? In essence, they may have felt inferior to the United States and its arrangement of individual states and sought to emulate america (and its state format) in the hope of improving their own economies/countries?

Just like how Russia & many other countries abandoned a socialist economy and over time transitioned to more of a market / capitalist format? Admitting your system is inferior to that of America and seeking to embrace the way americans do things must come with a sense of inferiority on some level.

Americans can own guns and have rights and freedoms that europeans do not. Surely, that must make them feel inferior and possibly give them inferiority complexes on some level. And, there are other things. I'm sure many europeans would like to believe their country is the best in the world. But, undoubtedly America is better than they are in some ways, so it may be a constant irritation to think the best they might hope for is second best considering they probably can't compete with america econmically or militarily.

Maybe, you can see it in how europeans may be upset or irritated by the United States "flexing its military muscles" in a constant reminder of how America is the dominant country on earth and their country is puny and weak in comparison?

You do know that neo nazis are white supremists because Hitler in a sense was a white supremist? Its not necessarily a pre-dominantly racist group like the KKK, but also involves Hitler worship and the idolizing of Nazi Germany and the things it accomplished militarily, scientifically and econmically?

Honestly, I don't have the slightest clue where you're from. I think neo naizism is a european thing. I never meant to imply you were european unless you, like Conor, don't understand that when someone is talking about neo nazis they're not necessarily talking about you, personally.

That's one possible explanation. However, it seems a bit simplistic in nature.

Yes, hence why I corrected myself in saying that he's a white supremacist and he may or may not be a Neo-Nazi. :hmmm:

Considering the context, it was pretty easy to misconstrue what you said. Chalk it up to a miscommunication on your part or a misunderstanding on my part. It was probably a combination of the two, although I'm sure you will say it was exclusively the latter.

Please don't make my thread too Riddickulous. :sad3:

What's "simplistic" about it?

Maybe, you're in denial? :ness:

You missed the point!

Conor said something extremely stupid(as usual). :ness:

You supported him out of a sense of loyalty.

Now, you're digging a deeper and wider hole for yourself to try to bs your way out of it.

Its not that complicated. :elmo:

It overlooks any political, economic and social changes in Europe and claims that Europe does everything because it feels jealous of the US. I could argue the opposite by saying that Reagan was jealous of the UK because his policies were similar to Thatcher's, but I won't because that would be stupid.

You missed the point!
Did I? :sad3:

I genuinely thought that you were implying I was European. Which I thought was kind of weird because I know that you know I'm not.

and what am I trying to BS my way out of? I honestly couldn't care less if I misinterpreted a part of your post. This is a Riddickulous thing to be arguing about. :hmmm:

I just had a good laugh reading this thread :hmmm:
The only impression I got is that Riddick thinks all Europeans are inferior to Americans :neomon:

Also Sacha, I will join your band, I played a bit of bass when I was 13 and I'm not on crack. However, I'm European so clearly inferior, will you take me? :sad3:

1. Suggesting Reagan was jealous of the UK ISN'T the opposite of what I said. :ness: (Strike one)

2. I would agree that the United States has an inferiority complex about some things. We have an inferiority complex about japan being technologically superior to us in ways. You can see it in how general motors and other domestic auto companies refuse to acknowledge toyota and hondas superior safety and workmanship records & refuse to adopt common practices japan auto-makers utilize that are superior to the way we do some things. Its obvious in a lot of ways... (Strike two)

3. I never said europe does "everything" because it feels jealous of the United States. What I said was the reason Europe does some major and important things is because the way the United States does some things is superior to the way they did them. And, it must cost them some pride (which may be related to inferiority complexes, etc) to do so. (Strike three)

I genuinely thought that you were implying I was European. Which I thought was kind of weird because I know that you know I'm not.

I never said nor implied you were european.

Conor tried to suggest I implied it because he's desperate and ever straining himself to manufacture reasons to put me down and criticize me. If he doesn't have a reason, he'll invent an imaginary one. He's a sleazy and unprincipled human being. :ness:

Apologies Richard, you went into a rant about Europe(it is a country not a continent after all!) a bit sooner than usual which gave the impression you thought Sacha was European

You lack the common sense necessary to recognize no one said Europe is a country.

Blah, blah. You quote everyone out of context, fabricate bs, and put words in pplz mouths as usual.

Nothing you say ever has credibility.

The only impression I got is that Riddick thinks all Europeans are inferior to Americans :neomon:

LOL.

When did I say europeans are inferior to americans? :ness:

I was being sarcastic, my reaction to most of your posts was tl;dr anyway.
Clearly my sarcasm is wasted on great minds like yourself

I'm just glad it was sarcasm. :ness:

I'm not trying to hurt anyone's feelings & would feel bad if I wounded a little girl's ego. :ness:

How about a musician that does bath salts? I know one. He's been posting on facebook all night about how awesome salts are and how amazing having sex when taking them is. Lovely sight at 3 am, that. :monster:
