Just watched the new Versus trailer and from the looks of it the battle system seems surprisingly similar to the Kingdom Hearts fighting style and layout, but obviously more suited to the theme with extra features such as the character faces moving in the HP/MP display window. Anyone feeling this??

I'd only feel it if the battle system was more of an evolved form of kingdome Hearts like pressing more than one button to execute different types of attacks and more freedom I guess. I dunno. I'm not at fan of kingdom hearts at all but I'm not gonna shoot down this game's battle system which I doubt will be exactly the same as KH............:ahmed: But yea I'm okay with it although I was expecting different menu layouts on screen. It looked like they had the same attack/magic/item bar in a square on screen and that made me a bit uncomfy...but then again they said it wasn't finished so we'll have to just wait :elmo:

Being an action-JRPG, its gameplay is inevitably similar to the Kingdom Hearts anyway and arguably with some Crisis Core thrown into the mix as well. As good as these kinds of battle systems are, they do seem to come under the simple task of mashing the same button in combat. Hopefully Versus has some spice - though the use of mecha is perhaps not what I would have had in mind. The shuddering character portraits on a sidepoint though, look rather distracting and a bit unnecessary, though probably nothing you can't get used to I suppose.

I'm fine with the battle system but some people who expects too high from versus can't accept this game just because it's similar with Kingdom Hearts. You can't expect something to be perfect, people makes it with a lot of efforts y'know!.

I want a rare gameplay system too in the new FF series, but i can't expect too much. What i don't like from KH battle system is just the difficulty when i want to switch the commands :(.

I don't really think we can judge on what the battle system will be like yet,I mean even though we did see a few battle scene we didnt really see anything being done on the battle screen, the only time when I'd say we saw the player actually doing something during a battle would be when Ignis was shooting........Other than that not idea what the system will be like, all we know from the battle screen is we'll be able summons, items, magic and EX-arts..........But for the battle itself.......I don't think I've ever seen fights like this being so fast! Its like KH,Crisis Core and Advent Children had a threesome and Versus was created. :britt:

Well I loved the battlesystem from KH1 and Rogue Galaxy myself..its as good as FF12 and Dragon Age for me personally.. I loved both battlesystems..Ive grown a bit tired of turn-based, so I cant wait to play Versus which has something new to bring to the table..some variety.

:griin:

I've played maybe 30 minutes of the kingdom hearts game that I have for my DS...and the controls definitely take some getting used to...and are regrettably not my favorite...but I am excited because I think Versus's gameplay is going to be more detailed and involving than XIII so I'm open to the thought of a KH inspired sort of gameplay.

We really can't judge what anything is going to be like until we actually get our hands on this game and start playing it anyways. They can always say one thing and it'll be another. I did like the moving portraits in the trailer and how the game play is in real time though. All I really have to say is that it better be good after all of the production time thats gone into it...

FFversus was made by the Kingdom Heart team, I think its been stated somewhere that they wanted to use the KH battle system but make it more engaging and realistic or something?

I for one am happy about this! I loved the KH battle system, and although it needed some work (like making magic easier to use) it was still really fun!!
I can't wait to battle monsters in Versus now :D

I remember reading it was also done by the KH team, like 4 years ago. I wonder what they mean when they say it'll be more realistic. Maybe players won't be able to jump as high, or something like that. Though I do love the KH series, I hope it won't be another button masher

Yeah the development team for Versus is the same that worked on Kingdom Hearts 2 and some of the other KH series games. It does remind me of it as far as the command slots and character HP/MP goes. If gameplay is similar to KH with some alterations to it I have no problem with that. The trailer was still sick BTW.

Its based on the KH battle system but they are adding final fantasy elements.

It will be party based combat where you switch between three characters, each with different weapon and magic/summon abilities. One guy can switch to third person aiming with guns. Also you can hijack different war machines. It looks like it will be quite a varied gameplay with strategy and tactic too.

Thats all i know. So far i think it sounds awsome! I really hope they add some badass limit break kinda moves, and im extremely courious about how the character uppgrade system will be.

I just cant wait to take on that behemot in real time combat!

Alittle off topic but they have confirmed a word map and rinding chocobos, cars and a AIRSHIP!! This game can be legendary!

Sadly, SE revealed that they removed the moving faces in a review a while ago :(

noo! and i was just coming here to post about how i really liked that little touch

anyways the gameplay looks really exciting. being able to run around and position yourself as different characters makes it really feel like you're whaling on something in real life, not sitting around waiting for your turn. the third-person shooter is great, and the fact that the environment reacts to the attacks. the troops of soldiers look really fun to mow down, it's more realistic then dramatic one on one standoffs. yadda yadda fast and dynamic

Eh I wasn't a fan of the moving portraits, it sorely distracted me from watching the actual battle taking place. Though I must say the fact that the KH development team is working on this battle system, surely means it's going to be innovative and fast paced. I definitely see influences from KH and KHII sprinkled in here. And I'm guessing you chain attacks together too. Either way the trailer is beautiful, it just looks like it's going to be a gorgeous game. I'm sooo excited for this to come out, omg! *squeals*
