Hey there folks, welcome to a brand new let's play! This time around, we're gonna play through the classic JRPG of Grandia! From back on the PS1, with the nostalgic and cheesy voice acting that that gen was pretty well known for, it's gonna be amazing!

This is a game that I have so many memories of, from the characters, to the humour, to the music, to the sense of adventure! I can't bloody wait ha! If you're wondering what completely makes this game stand out to me though? It's the battle system. It's not quite the standard JRPG affair! We'll get into that more once we get going ;).

Oh! By the way, all the major companies involved in making this game are: Ubisoft, Game Arts, ESP and Skywalker Sound. Just so you know I didn't make this game *cough*.

In terms of the upload schedule, I'm aiming for daily uploads but with the odd day off! This is my attempt at getting majorly back on track :).

I have actually never heard of this game before which makes me feel really embarassed because you seem so excited about it ^^; I didn't have a PS1 so I must have missed it.

It's looks like a really interesting and fun game to play. Looking forward to watching your playthrough of this one :)

I can see why it'd get a bit lost amongst other JRPGs nowadays. To me, it's a classic, but it's not a series that's as famous as FF or anything :). I think it came out for Dreamcast too? Or was that just Grandia 2? Not sure :s.

I haven't played 3 nor Extreme. I think there are only 4 games in the series so I've played half of them anyways :s.
 
Oh if you can play 3 you should was my favorite of the series, if I had to rank them it honestly would be a tie with 1 and 3(it got me into the series) than 2, followed by extreme

I'd love to play 3 :lew:. If only it would come to the PS4 store :/. I'd probably try Extreme too anyways, just to see what it's like.

Episode 1 - Let's Look For Treasure!

Hey peoples, we're starting Grandia today! To kick things off, we get to meet a good amount of characters! From some of our apparent enemies, to Justin and Sue (our two first party members!). The best character so far though? Justin's mother. Get ready for her...interesting child-raising methods :lew:.

Other than meeting all of those, we go on a treasure hunt! All of the best equipment is found right in the starting town of Parm! Yes...the very best, legendary equipment...

Episode 2 - Breaking Bad

Hey folks, today Justin is breaking things! Maybe it's an after-effect from when his mother whacks him on the head with a frying pan...

Other than checking out the museum in Parm, we also head into our first enemy-infested area: Marna Road! It's nice and simple with only a bit of grass off the beaten track, but it's certainly worth exploring!

Experimenting with the new battle system is the highlight of the area though; I don't even know what to call it. The battle system with a bar. That'll do lmao.

Hey there folks, today we're gaining our reason to go adventuring further afield than these ruins! This is all figured out at the Sult Ruins, where our first boss lies in wait: the Rock Bird! That thing's not too tough, but if you haven't learnt the battle system completely quite yet, then maybe it would be :).

Episode 5 - I Choo-Choo-Choose You

Hey folks, today we're checking out Parm at night and heading to the town's deadliest location: the cafe! I'm sure this is probably meant to be a pub but during localisation they turned it into a cafe? Possibly lol.

We also find out that we need to meet Java the adventurer in order to get a passport to leave this area...only he's a bit nutty and wants us children to go through the dangerous Leck Mines in order to prove our worth! More on that next time! ;)

Hey there folks, today we're taking on the dark, dank Leck Mines! The boss is also inside: the Orc King! He's not too bad, just make sure to kill off his 2 minions first to reduce the damage you're taking per turn. Otherwise, keep Sue's SP for Rah-Rah and you're good to go :).

Episode 8 - The New And Improved Lara Croft!

Hey folks, today we're meeting our 3rd party member aboard the steamer: Feena! As default, she's our fire mage with whips and knives! If you like your Lara Croft style characters (female adventurers with the "I'm such an independent woman" personality), then you'll love her. She does soften up when it comes to kids like Justin and Sue though, apparently.

Hey peoples, it's time for this JRPG's obligatory ghost ship dungeon! This one isn't too bad, though the camera can put walls etc in the way at times. Still, I love it! As for the boss, the Squid King is the toughest enemy we've seen to date and if you don't hurry and take care of those tentacles, it can be a right pain! Hopefully you've leveled your fire magic a bit by now ;).

Hey there peoples, today we're sniffing Feena's pants! That darn Justin! ;)

It looks like Grandia is doing a FFX on us (or the other way around really) and having our Feena be kidnapped for a forced wedding too! We'd better stop that by heading through the church sewers (the Underground Passage in New Parm) huh? I normally don't like sewer areas but this one is actually pretty decent :).

Other than that, we check out the magic shop again and start our next dungeon: the Rangle Mountains! We've seen a few places already like these mountains but I quite like these areas personally :).

Hey peoples, it may seem like a short episode but there was a lot of editing for this one! We actually make a tonne of progress considering! :)

I mean, we take on the rest of the Rangle Mountains, the forest outside of the Dom Ruins AND the Dom Ruins Exterior. Not bad for about 20 minutes ha.
