Hey there peoples, I've decided to throw up this thread a day early to get a poll going. So far, I've always recorded my commentary live, but I was wondering if anyone would like for me to do a post-commentary instead? i.e. Record the gameplay, and then record the commentary a bit later on. The commentary will still play right through and all that. This will mean less responsive commentary and stuff, but it'll mean that I'll have more time to think on what to say.

So, if you would, chuck your answer in the poll and some reasons for your poll choice as a post please :)

EDIT: Head on down to post 7 for the start. That's still on this page, so you know :)

The Let's Plays I have watched have always been post-commentated it allows you to edit out the shit parts of the video before you comment on it. As well as allowing you to think on what to say etc.

Just to clarify, by shit parts I mean say a tedious task that you have to repeat a few times whether due to repeated sections or game overs. They tend to kill commentary and are no fun to watch, so removing those is easier in post-production. The only other big difference in LPs that I can see is when two people commentate, which I find is usually better. Though do not worry about that too much, one person LPs can still be excellent.

I went for post-commentary, since I think it'd be easier for you. I mean, you could write scripts, think it over, etc. I mean, with live commentary you can't really edit out parts where you get tongue-tied, right? I mean, you might miss out on the wittiness of the video-but then again, you could always watch over the footage and so forth

Or well... that's they way I'd do it-or, at least attempt to do it.

:lew:

Ok both, thanks for your views. I've just gone for live again for now, although I could always switch half way through. The biggest problem I have with live commentary is that I get interrupted here and there and have to cut around it a lot.
Then again, this would probably happen while I'm trying to commentate afterwards so...I'm not sure there'd be much difference.

Live commentary is probably easier to be honest, because it all gets done at one time. You can still cut out the tedious parts with live commentary Emmy the Great , or have I missed your point? :)

I rather like your live commentary. Post commentary would be cleaner. But live is more entertaining.

Ok, so I've been trying to think of something that'll peak my interest in gaming again, and for something pretty unique to come around the corner. Eventually, I thought of Killer7. You'll have a hard time finding a more unique and colourful (and yet incredibly mature) game on the market, and there's bound to be so much to talk about.

So, here it comes:

http://youtu.be/-Nj3PjU8SJs

As the opening shows, this will be the Nintendo Gamecube version, made by Capcom and Grasshopper (the Suda51 people). Plenty of strong voiceacting and strong characters (and a grand soundtrack when there is one). It may be a 1st person shooter, but don't think of the generic stuff that is being released these days...this is nothing like them. Full on horror, certainly scarier than any Resi/Silent Hill.

Here's some more info on Killer7, if you want to know more:

http://suda51.wikia.com/wiki/Killer7

There are also a few different disk designs and game case cover designs there too which are pretty interesting. I think I prefer the EU cover best, with it's simplicity, but they all work in their own way.

I wish I could compare this game to something else, but it's tough. Somebody once said that XIII is similar, but I've never played that to confirm it. It may just be the artstyle that made him say that.

So, we'll be making a start tomorrow...I just hope I do the game justice.

P.S. I'm going with live commentary. It just feels more genuine and I felt incredibly fake when I started LPing this with post commentary. Especially when I started recording and making the script afterwards. It felt wrong. Sorry to get your hopes up :sad3:

Episode 1 - May The Lord Smile

http://youtu.be/FX-oV14Tl_0

Welcome to the new series folks! Killer7 is gonna start off with a relatively simple assignment, which will take up maybe 5 or 6 episodes. This terrorist base is ever so homely, with Heaven Smiles (explosive terrorists) running around, but don't worry too much, because they have to run right up to you to take any sort of damage. Just listen out for the laughter folks!

We're introduced to loads of characters in this episode, including 4 of the Smith Syndicate. Garcian is sort of the main man behind all these personalities. He cleans up the mess and revives characters if they die. Next up is Dan, who has a normal pistol, but has a special ability that allows him to mix thin blood in order to make special bullets. This is the only way to take down certain enemies. Kaede is next, with her sniper/scope...we'll see her ability later. Con has some sort of machine gun...but it's so weak right now. His ability allows him to run through areas extremely quickly. Just make sure you know where the enemies are first though...

As for NPCs, we meet Chris Miller...he gives us the assignment. Iwazaru...who the hell knows what that thing is lmao. Sorta reminds me of a demonic Tingle from Zelda. There's Travis, who seems really hostile. I'm sure there's a reason for that ;) . Oh and Samantha, the maid/carer; she'll be shown more as the story progresses.

Anyways, I hope you enjoy. There's plenty more to come, including some puzzles, more characters and more new enemies.

See you around :)

P.S. I'm going with live commentary. It just feels more genuine and I felt incredibly fake when I started LPing this with post commentary. Especially when I started recording and making the script afterwards. It felt wrong. Sorry to get your hopes up :sad3:

Well, you know I am glad you are doing live commentary. As I said it is more entertaining. :)

Episode 2 - Feeding The Masked Yoon-Hyun

Hello again peoples, it's time for us to make some more progress in the Angel assignment! The micro smile is introduced this time, which deal no damage, but will blind you for a bit so you can't aim at the other enemies. Killing them gives you quite a bit of blood too, so missing them is a bit gutting.

Otherwise, we meet another regular character: Yoon-Hyun. He gives you a hint when you talk to him, but you can get a better hint if you shoot his mask and pay him some blood.

We also head to Room 212, which has a puzzle that we can't do anything with yet and go on up to the 3rd floor.

See you in a bit :)

Episode 3 - Susie Sumner Washes Her Hair

http://youtu.be/XM_P0eQmpTE

Hey peoples, it's time for us to explore the 3rd floor, and solve the great mystery in room 212! This includes visiting the bathroom/toilet, the launderette (where we meet Susie Sumner), grabbing ourselves a very useful fire ring and solving the candle puzzle. We also get to see what Coyote's special ability is all about. He's a thief, don'tcha know?

Next episode we'll be leaving these floors behind and checking out what else is in store. It's gonna change things up a bit folks ;)

Episode 4 - I Changed My Makeup

http://youtu.be/dq1a5ses4Tk

Hey there folks, it's time for Kaede to become especially useful with her special ability! She like to slit her wrists and cause a blood shower, which uncovers hidden passwords/messages etc. In fact, we make it right up to just before the miniboss of the Angel assignment.

The next episode will end this assignment folks! If you enjoyed this, the next episode is gonna blow your socks off ;). The boss is pretty grand.

P.S. We also check out one of Mask De Smith's special ability...

Episode 5 - An Angel Ends Our 1st Assignment!

http://youtu.be/QU20YAKwuVo

Hey there folks, here's the last of our 1st assignment! It includes the password "puzzle", the vinculum gate section, the speed smile mini-boss and the boss Kun Lan's Angel!

We also meet Harman Smith, the 8th member of the Smith Syndicate! I know what you're thinking: "this is Killer7 not Killer8!", but he's shown to be the main body for all the personalities. He's not used throughout the game really, but he's there more for story purposes.

The end cinematic shows that Harman and Kun Lan have been at each others' throats for yeeeeears, by the way. Isn't it strange how Kun Lan can fly and catch bullets with sparkling hands? It certainly is ;)

See you next time?

Hey there folks, I'm heading off to Survivor for the next...2ish weeks. I may be back sooner than that though if I do crap. This means that I won't be updating this thread during that time. I'll be updating how much I've uploaded when I get back. If you want to continue watching as I upload to Youtube, then subscribe. I'll still be recording, uploading etc to there.

Thanks for sticking with me! :)

P.S. You can still talk here and all that lol. Not that you need permission or anything...but y'know :s

And we're back in business! This is gonna be a pretty long post with quite a few episodes. Here we go!

-----------------------------------------------------------

Episode 6 - Samantha's Dark Side

http://youtu.be/z4ys2kyOr_k

It's time to start Target 1 this time around, which is called Sunset. It's pretty much a story episode, but there's something interesting to see in between the cinematics: what could be in the basement? The groaning is pretty creepy...they could have actually made Garcian's trailer a safe haven, but apparently they didn't want that lmao.

Other than this, Chris Miller gives us the new assignment which is in America..but in a japanese restaurant. We're heading to Fukushima Restaurant, where we need to kill the namesake. Why? Because it'll be easier to send the missiles from America to blow up Japan of course!

But will our syndicate actually allow this to happen? Are they really so evil? You'll have to wait and see! Ha!
-----------------------------------------------------------

Episode 7 - I'm Here To Kill Mr Fukushima

http://youtu.be/xdYPCN0lj9c

Hey there folks, it's time to properly start Sunset! Mask De Smith gets his time in the limelight in this assignment, where he was barely seen last time, so that's a nice change. He even has his own cutscenes!

Anyways, in this episode we make it into the restaurant, find the water ring up on the rooftops and make some progress...lmao what a crap summary.
See you next time when we carry on hunting for Fukushima ;)
-----------------------------------------------------------

Episode 8 - Good Shape!

http://youtu.be/oI99KPjzGVY

Hey there folks, let's make our way to the kitchen, shall we? Along the way, we check out the garden (entirely unnecessary, but y'know), make use of the water ring, find the only Odd Engraving in this episode and make use of that! Phew, all in about 13 minutes!

See you next time when we see what's cooking in the kitchen and meet a very interesting character
-----------------------------------------------------------

Episode 9 - Animal House

http://youtu.be/BivFFLWcMK8

Hey there folks, this episode has the rest of the "normal" part of this assignment. This includes the kitchen cutscene with Mask de Smith, as well as the whole animal house puzzle (lowering the bridge). We also find the only soul shell/bullet that's needed this time around. What are they meant to be called anyway? I guess bullets will do lol.

See you next time when we face the mini-boss, boss...and end the assignment completely :)
-----------------------------------------------------------

Episode 10 - The Sun Sets On Fukushima

http://youtu.be/E2UkdGrQsUc

After using our only soul shell (that was ever so hard to find), we take on the Phantom Smile along with the boss...who is even easier than the last. Just make sure to only use faster characters. Con and Kaede are certain winners; I haven't tried the other characters to know how that would go. Also...just don't miss lmao.

See you next time, ready to start part 2 of Sunset! It's gonna be a wee bit different folks...and I won't muck up as much!

-----------------------------------------------------------

Episode 11 - Bloody Tomato Juice

http://youtu.be/wXPdSb_jBhk

Ok, to start off with folks, apologies for the slight echo in this vid. I tried to cover it up as best I could but it wasn't having any of it :/

Sunset part 2 is interesting in the sense that we see that Kun Lan could have a part in it all. I'm not sure how touching someone with sparkly hand can do anything but...I think it was meant to. We also get introduced to the zombie businessmen...what's going on there? These cutscenes confused the crap out of me lmao. And why is everyone in the meeting room invisible when the one guy is leaving? Was it to do with the touch?

I.Just.Don't.Know.

Anyways! Other than all the cutscenes, we solve the vending machine puzzle as well as the dice puzzle. That's right folks, we're gonna be in for a fair few puzzles in this assignment!

I hope y'all are ready for some more floors next time (vvv) This sort of fun should be made illegal, shouldn't it? ;)

-----------------------------------------------------------

Episode 12 - Playing Poker With Horses

http://youtu.be/R7rYYw6ijCw

Hello there folks and folkesses! It's time for us to take on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors of the Kaku Building! This involves playing a bit of poker, some horse racing, finding the only Odd Engraving in this assignment and something to do with special cards...don't ask me what game that is though. It's not available over here, I don't think. We also find a few soul shells as we make our way through all of this ;)

See you next time when we finish off the 4th floor and find a boss or two hanging around :)

-----------------------------------------------------------

Episode 13 - Mahjong With Guns!

http://youtu.be/3NJk89YW5IM

Hey there folks, it's time to find out what Kevin adds to the party! His invisibility will be incredibly useful later on, but for now...he gets maybe 10 seconds of screen time. He's pretty useless for shooting...he just throws knives or something and they're pretty weak. He's more of a stealthy character :)

Once this is done, we do all of the basement, where we hand over the soul shells and beat the miniboss (Backside Smile, the trickiest of the minibosses so far) and the boss (Jean DePaul). We still have another boss though, which we'll check out next time! Before then, we find the Wind Ring, use the Odd Engraving to change where the elevator takes us, and head back to the elevator. We also get to see an especially tense game of mahjong...love this scene ha.

See you next time when we finish Sunset! 9 episodes has made it pretty long, huh? I've been going at a pretty good pace too...not that I'm trying to speed through or anything :s

-----------------------------------------------------------

Episode 14 - Kurahashi/Akiba Kombo!

http://youtu.be/L2tB0y7sbLQ

Hello there peoples, it's time to finish Sunset once and for all! The rooftop area is pretty tough, because so many enemies drop down all over the place...a bit of common sense would have told me to run back a bit though :s

After this, we take on the old zombie men (Kurahashi and Akiba) as the final boss of the assignment. T'is a bit tough to figure out what to do, but the video will show you how to beat them better than I could explain it here.

Does Japan get blown up after all this? Or does it get saved? Have a look see ;)

See you next time, when we start Target 002! Cloudman is gonna change things up...

-----------------------------------------------------------

Episode 15 - Entering Cloudman's Town

http://youtu.be/xaxEhoqe6Eg

Hey peoples! Other than the cutscenes involving the cult leader (Ulmeyda) and Samantha, this episode is all about introducing the two new enemies and the petrol station. The Stamina Ring will be a nice addition to our collection, allowing us to take more hits throughout the game (so long as it's equipped). I'm pretty sure you don't actually need to collect it but...it's useful ;)

See you in the next episode when we start collecting the Ulmeyda figurines in the suburbs! :)

-----------------------------------------------------------

Episode 16 - Suburban Exercise

http://youtu.be/mmHbRN7t9Ck

Hello peoples, it's time for a tour of the suburbs! We'll only be going to the houses that need to be entered. The others are just full of enemies...so if you want blood then go for it. Remember to use Coyote to get into each house ;). This way, we find the odd engraving as well as Ulmeyda Figure 12 and this is the only way to get it.

We also take on a duplicator with more than one weak point and see how to defeat those giant smiles! Oh, finally we reach the gate we use the odd engraving and enter the password we got back at the petrol station.

See you in the next episode when we check out the next area and obtain a whole load more figurines! :)

-----------------------------------------------------------

Episode 17 - Gorillaz In The Drugstore

http://youtu.be/BWINTWPCMEU

Ok, so as much as I love this town, it's about time we left. To do this, we need to collect the rest of the Ulmeyda figurines. We check out the diner to get them all except for one more...bring your coins folks! ;)

Next up, we check out the drugstore, which has a pretty epic cutscene. Not that it's actiony or anything, but I can't get enough of that art style! This is where we get the last figurine.

Finally, we head to the post office to give them all in and see another cutscene about Ulmeyda.

See you next time, when we head up the mountain path and make our way to the "First Life" headquarters!

-----------------------------------------------------------

Episode 18 - The Mountain Quiz

http://youtu.be/Q3GQ6IO5ng4

Hey folks, it's time to make our way along the mountain path! This place has plenty of enemies along the sunny tracks, and this keeps things interesting. We also take on the quiz at the end, which is certainly the toughest puzzle so far. Might be best to write everything down that you see on the billboards? Even better: draw them if you're any good at that kind of thing :)

See you next time when we see just what the leader of First Life is like! It'll be the last episode for this assignment folks ;)

-----------------------------------------------------------

Episode 19 - The End Of An Afro

http://youtu.be/iXZhkyyyk7E

Why hello there people of the internet! This episode may have the main boss of target: Cloudman, but look out, because the cutscenes surrounding it are 100% orgasmic ;)

Deadly drag-racing, an afro transformation and the emergence of Clemence (a new cult leader, perhaps?) make these cutscenes well worth a watch!

Just...don't drink the blood :/

See you next time when we make a start on Target: Encounter pt 1! :)

*cue carnival music*

-----------------------------------------------------------

Episode 20 - Welcome To Ishiszaka Land!

http://youtu.be/1oYAUIqVs-U

Hello people, it's time to start a brand new assignment: Encounter! Part 1 of this assignment will last for 4 episodes and is set in the pretty amazing theme park of Ishiszaka Land. This episode shows off a couple of new enemies, along with the String Quartet street, which is a row of cinemas/theater buildings. Around here, we upgrade mask and make him so much faster! This is completely mandatory :)

See you next time when we finish off String Quartet and visit another area of the theme park ;)

-----------------------------------------------------------

Episode 21 - Killer Mansion Of Doomy Death!

http://youtu.be/LwWRd5gvkQw

Ok peoples, this episode shows the rest of String Quartet, which includes finding the time ring (so fun to use and watch!) and obtaining the first soul shell.

We also complete all of the Killer Mansion, which is so fun and reminds me so much of that haunted house from Silent Hill 3. I mean...sort of.

See you next time when we go for the last soul shell...oooh boy :D

-----------------------------------------------------------

Episode 22 - Breaking Ceramic Hearts

http://youtu.be/rAUWsJ7E00M

Hey there folks, this episode is all about the Freaky Fun House, which is pretty big but there's so much variety and so many interesting parts to it that it doesn't matter at all. From the cheese wheel, to the shooting gallery, to the burning hot rope bridge, you'll never get bored at Ishaszaka Land!

Also, we take on a mini-boss, which is really tricky to get right. I recommend either Con or Kaede (whoever you're best with) and waiting for the ceramic smile to run around near you and then shooting it in the heart. Don't let it touch you though, or you're going down in one! ;)

-----------------------------------------------------------

Episode 23 - Encountering Ayame Blackburn

http://youtu.be/IAfb7dun4Do

Hey all, this episode has everything from the Vinculum Gate onwards. This includes the miniboss (Mithril Smile), who is incredibly simple. Mask is your best friend ;). Also, the main boss (Ayame Blackburn) has such a good intro! Japanese anime all the way ha! Just shoot her when she enters the light and you'll be fine...make sure to have the stamina ring equipped just in case though.

So, I shall see you next time when we go for part 2 of Encounter, where we'll see just where this kidnapper lives ;)

P.S. I take a while on the main boss. Apologies for that...maybe another character would have been better? :(
-----------------------------------------------------------

Episode 24 - Staying Fit

Soooo, once we see just how charming our target is at the Fitness Center, it's time to make a start on Encounter Part 2! This house is ever so posh, so we'd better ruin the fireplace and get our first soul shell, ja?

Not much else happens, 'cause of all the cutscenes, but I'll see you next time when we check out his other house behind the lasers! In a bit :)

--------------------------------------------------------

Woooop, all done :lew:

Episode 25 - Checking On The Neighbours

Hey all, it's time to complete all of the 2nd house! This includes finding a soul shell, an odd engraving and meeting Ms Blackburn one last time. There's no schoolbus to escape on this time! We get to find out what she really looks like too...

Finally, we turn off the security at the pool...which is where we're heading in the next episode. And the garden ;)

Episode 26 - A Dangerous Garden

Hey folks of the interwebs! This episode has quite a bit packed into quite a short space of time, so listen up! We find out way to the garden and find the other odd engraving and soul shell. We also enter the garage to solve a...difficultish puzzle; it's all about perspective. Finally, we head on back to the pool and see what the odd engravings are for...the valve is mighty useful!

See you next time when we finish off this assignment by taking on the miniboss, boss and see the ending cutscenes etc :)

Episode 27 - Dan's Bloody Revenge

http://youtu.be/OVctpwGmKzk

Hey there folks, it's time for us to finish Encounter once and for all! The mini-boss isn't so bad...it just may take a few tries. You have to hit the Laser Smile's weak point dead on first time. This is why I highly recommend using Kaede and having her zoom in. We also try to take on the gatekeeper of the Vinculum Gate. That's a errr...interesting discovery :/

The boss, Curtis Blackburn, is pretty easy so long as you know the little knicks to look out for. When the pigeon coos, it's about to fly off for real. Once it flies off like this, aim and shoot as quickly as possible. Repeat this four times and you're done!

The fact that Curtis ends up just like the kidnapped orphans is pretty amazingly done irony. After seeing how much of a twat he can be throughout the assignment, it's nice to see that it wasn't just a bullet to the head :D . Also: Dan got his revenge on the person who killed him! Noice ;)

See you next time when we head on over to Alter Ego. That one has such a good boss, but until then we have the rest of the assignment to check out ;) . See you in a bit!

Episode 28 - Alter Ego!

http://youtu.be/TWLOnzvnRNk

Hey all, it's time for us to start disk 2! Alter Ego is a much needed change to the Killer7 formula, with no soul shells, Vinculum Gate or miniboss included. It's easy to get lost in this area, but we'll get through it ok, I reckon.

In this episode, we find that our target this time around is a team of 7 comic book characters known as the Handsome Men. They're gonna be exciting :D . We also see possibly my favourite cutscene in the whole game: the acoustic guitar player.

It's all about bringing the change folks! Thanks for watching :)

Episode 29 - The Lost City

http://youtu.be/K8VxXXt87GY

Well it looks like it's about time to take on the Lost City! What we need to do is use Con and use a ability. This will let us see the ways that we need to go in this little maze part. You can also listen out for the singer's...singing, if you'd prefer. Either way, this is a good area for collecting blood.

We also end up running around killing enemies in order to unlock Kaede and Coyote, ready for the next part (which is also shown).

See you next time when we leave this maze area behind and head towards the church! It's not gonna be as holy and innocent as you may think :D
