Hey there folks, I'm really excited to bring to you the start of a new let's replay! Final Fantasy 9 has always been one of my favourite games and since it was my first ever let's play, it holds a special place in the ol' blood pumper.

For those who don't know (...), Final Fantasy 9 is a very typical JRPG with random encounters, towns to explore, tonnes of NPCs everywhere, turn-based battles etc. There's so much great music and pretty much all of the locations are so memorable too :gonk:.

By the way, this is going to be the PS4 version so it'll be all HD and all that. However, none of the added boosters will be used; I may end up speeding up a bit when stealing from bosses but I'm only thinking of one specific boss right now (he can be a huge problem :/).

P.S. Of course, this game was not made by me. I was like 11 or 12 at the time the original came out! It was of course made by Squaresoft and has been carried on over to PS4 by Square Enix.

P.P.S. I forgot to mention! This will be a daily let's play so one episode per day is the name of the game! There could be a day here and there where I won't have time or something crops up, but I'll keep you updated about that on the day, via Twitter :).

Episode 1 - Welcome To Alexandria!

Today, the curtains open on the citizens of Alexandria! A plot is thickening to kidnap the princess from under the Queen's nose, by the Tantalus group, including our main protagonist for the adventure: Zidane Tribal!

We also get to meet a little black mage and get to see just how easily he's led astray...

Will the kidnapping work out or will there be interventions? Will our little black mage be able to watch the play?

P.P.S. I'll be doing little boss guides here but I wouldn't say there's a boss until the end of the first dungeon. These minibosses are all very scripted and simple until then. Just steal and then attack, with the occasional potion when needed :).

Hey there folks, today we're wrapping up the Evil Forest! You may be pleased to hear that it ends with the first proper boss! He can be a bit of a corker too:

Plant Brain Strategy:

- Steal his stuff.
- Cast Fire to hurt him a whole lot. It's the boss's weakness after all!
- Sword magic is new and you start with fire sword since Vivi has it! Get to using that ;).
- Use potions to keep healed up! Stealing can take a while if you're unlucky.
- That's about it really. Pretty basic stuff but he does deal decent damage.
- If you're having a hard time, remember there's a healing spring just outside, by the moogle. Level grind time, maybe?

Black Waltz 1 + Sealion Strategy:

- Steal the 2 items from the Black Waltz first.
- Then kill it asap.
- Then steal both items from the Sealion.
- Then just keep attacking and use the almost inevitable trance to finish it off.
- Beware that the weaker the sealion gets, the more powerful its attacks get. Look out when the orb on it's neck turns red!
- Use potions regularly! Don't have any? Steal from random encounters; they seem to just drop them a lot too.

Black Waltz 2 Strategy:

- Don't use magic. He'll counter with more powerful magic against your entire party.
- Dagger won't be specifically targeted so don't worry about her so much. Keep her for healing, by the way ;).
- Steal the waltz's stuff! I feel like there's a pattern forming here...
- Just go all out with physical attacks and use potions when necessary.

- Steal his stuff
- Make use of Vivi's auto-trance! It probably won't be enough to take the boss down, but it'll chip away at his health a bit.
- Attack with Zidane and Steiner
- Use potions when you need to :).

Episode 12 - Enter The Pin Cushion!

Episode 13 - See How Snake-Like I Can Be!

Hey folks, Gizamaluke's Grotto has a gimmick that I love! Bring on the bells! The music is also really nice :s. The only thing is that the master of the grotto is being manipulated...

Gizamaluke Strategy:

- Make sure to steal the ice staff. It's amazing, even if you can get another one soon enough anyway.
- He's weak to thunder so focus a few times and go for broke! Just remember that he sometimes counters spells with a silencing move.
- It's probably best to keep Quina as your potion user.
- You can use slow on him if you like but it doesn't always succeed and this isn't a boss you want to waste moves against; he's one of the toughest in the game imo.
- Equip some water damage reducing equipment before starting the fight. This can be glass armlets, headgear (this is the actual name of the equipment lol). There may be more.
- You can use a tent on him and inflict him with status ailments; a weird boss quirk that I don't think can be used on any other bosses.

Hey folks, today we're heading into the rainy city of Burmecia with Zidane and the gang! You'd think going into the city would get you out of the rain but...it's the opposite here lmao.

Of course, we wrap up Dagger and Steiner's part first. It's not very eventful though...as is kind of how their parts work. There's more to their next section though as they head nearer to Alexandria :s.

Episode 15 - Beat The Beatrix

Anyway! Today, we're wrapping up disc one by taking on Beatrix in Burmecia!

- Chuck everyone in the back row.
- Steal constantly.
- Don't attack at all.
- Use your other 3 party members to heal.
- Just...hold out!

Black Waltz 3 Strategy:

- Steal everything you can. It can take a while on this boss.
- Cure and life with Dagger
- Items with Steiner.
- Now's a good time to use a few ethers if you've been saving them up.
- Afterwards, attack with Steiner and Marcus and heal with Dagger.

Hey folks, today we're heading into one of the best towns in the game imo. The music, the darkness; it's all pretty stunning to be around. The only critique I have is that there are never any cinematics in Treno and I'd have loved to see how they portrayed the town in that way :s. Meeting Tot is a toot of a time, by the way!

We also nip into Quan's Dwelling for a sec. Free healing and a stellazio? Definitely worth it :).

Episode 17 - Ralvurahva's Kiss

Hey folks, we're taking care of Gargan Roo and the threat it possesses today...

Ralvurahva Strategy:

- Steal its stuff. It's not actually fantastic stuff this time but you might as well go for it.
- Cast panacea or use antidotes when you're lovingly kissed. Equipping the ability Antibody is even better to prevent poison in the first place.
- Just do as much damage as possible with your fighters and heal with Dagger. This isn't a tough boss so long as you leveled a bit against the crawler enemies in this dungeon :).

Other than the misfortune this party encounters, we also check in on Zidane and the gang and start the great ascent on Cleyra's Trunk; the biggest dungeon to date, even if that isn't saying a whole lot.

Antlion Strategy:

- Steal his stuff. Shock! ;)
- Don't use physical attacks. He won't thank you for it.
- Focus while Zidane is stealing a few times and Vivi will take him down in a few turns, with Blizzara. He's weak to ice!
- If someone has trouble put on them, don't worry. It's not the worst status ailment in the world ha.
- For healing, use reis's wind for regen on the party and white wind with Quina, if you have it. If these aren't available to you, it's the good old potion route for you ;).

- Steal as much of her stuff as you can before the time runs out.
- Put everyone in the back row.

Look out for that cinematic! It's one of the best in the game, though the game has so many good ones :s.
