FFXII's license board is perhaps the most intimidating, yet flexible, class/leveling system in a Final Fantasy title to date. As you kill monsters, you gain license points; you spend those points to unlock squares on the board. Not only can the charachter then use the spells/weapons/items/skills that were written on the square, but the adjacent squares open up for more spending.

Kawazu describes the concept of the license board: "The license board continues our vision of letting the adventure unfold as the player imagines it. In other games, charachters are placed into clearly defined roles and offered little in the way of customization. With the license board, players choose how they want their charachters to evolve. Throughout our development, we came to notice that our charachters didn't fall into the typical RPG stereotypes. Ashe, who at first glaance looks a little frail, extrudes the strength of Dalmasca. With this in mind, we didn't want to typecast our charachters, so we made them infinitely customizeable, with charachter development resting [in the hands] of the players."

And that's basically all I have on it at the moment. You can look forward to Information on the "Judges" in my next post depending on if i get good views on this topic. Remember that I put alot of time into hand typing this stuff so if people won't read it I wont bother typing it.

So, the leveling up system is kind of like FFX's in a way? Sounds pretty cool. And the fact that you can unlock weapons, items, skills, and spells. I like the sound of this system.
