Hey guys so i'm working on getting the Lionheart weapon for Squall and im at the beginning of disc 2 (balamb just started flying) and I was wondering if there was any other way of getting those energy crystals besides card modding Elnolyes (or however it's spelt). Also, where is agood place to go find some Grendels? Thanks!
 
As far as I'm aware, at that point in the game the only way to get energy crystals is to card mod Elnolyes.

As for Grendels, there's a forest near Galbadia Garden where they can be found, however, they only drop the items needed for Lionheart at lower levels.
 
So...if I am too high of a level for the fangs...does that mean i've messed up and can't ever get the weapon?
 
no, in some occasions u can steal from them and after the battle if u stole successfully u get a lower level item, this works w/ any monster, or for me at least, and there r more tha one ways to get any item like that
 
Yep, as long as you steal from them you should get what you are looking for though it is kind of a longer process, and you may not be able to get it the first time, so you kinda have to do the steal command alot, but you'll eventually get it. If all else fails, just go to gamefaqs and look it up
 
If you're too high of a level to fight the Grendals you could just use Tonberry's LV. Down ability. I believe you have to be around Lv.20-29 to mug the Dragon Fangs from the Grendals.

For the Energy Crystals, you can only get them from Card Modding until you get to Disc 3, I think.

If Balamb Garden is mobile already and your problem is that you're too high leveled, your solution is simple, Tonberry King GF. Get him at the Centra ruins after defeating Odin, just kill about 20 regular tonberries at the first area of the level, and after you beat the 20th, the Tonberry King should show up at the end of the fight. Defeat him and he's yours. He comes with the LVL UP & LVL DOWN abilities that can adjust a monsters LV to your convinience.

I think if you have all of the items needed it appears anyway in the list when you go to the junk shop. Don't quote me on that, I only think it happens, I'm not 100% sure

That is absolutely right, if you have the necessary items then the weapon will show up at the shop menu. And I do believe you have to wait until disc 3 until you get Lionheart like Darth Nilithus said, but you dont have to wait until you get the magazine.
