Okay, just gonna give this thread a shot. PRetty much, you post a set of lyrics or even a verse/chorus of a song that you like, name it(artist and song title), and name the reason(s) why you chose it. I added that last part due to this section being a postcount-increase section.

A note: If the mods see this as pointless thread, then by all means close it, but hey, just giving it a shot :)

The angry boy, a bit too insane
Icing over a secret pain
You know you don't belong
You're the first to fight, you're way too loud
You're the flash of light on a burial shroud
I know something's wrong
Well everyone I know has got a reason to say
Put the past away

Song: Jumper
Artist: Third Eye Blind

Reason for choosing lyrics:
  • I chose this part of the song "jumper" for the sole reason that I am actually in the state of mind of wondering what slight-suicide would be like. People may say get help, but this song really gets to me, and I've been there and done that(almost). This is why I chose the first verse of that song.

Okay, now FFF, it is your turn. Please do remember to give a detailed, or at least a semi-detailed reason for posting and such :)

greatest line in a song ever is "slowly walking down the hall, faster than a cannon ball" from champagne supernova by oasis. the entire song is abstract when it comes to the lyrics, and even moreso when you know what the song is about.

song: No Suprises
artist: Radiohead

A heart that's full up like a landfill
A job that slowly kills you
Bruises that won't heal

You look so tired-unhappy
Bring down the government
They don't, they don't speak for us
I'll take a quiet life
A handshake of carbon monoxide

No alarms and no surprises
No alarms and no surprises
No alarms and no surprises
Silent, silent

This is my final fit, my final bellyache with

No alarms and no surprises
No alarms and no surprises
No alarms and no surprises please

Such a pretty house, such a pretty garden

No alarms and no surprises (let me out of here)
No alarms and no surprises (let me out of here)
No alarms and no surprises please (let me out of here)

I really like these lyrics because i think it is a metaphor about our modern society where consumption, superficiality and the " boring 9 to 5 schedule" takes all the place. The man in the song rather keep a boring life like that is close to suicide (A handshake of carbon monoxide) than changing his way of living and be happy.

Song - Early Sunsets Over Monroeville
Artist - My Chemical Romance

Late dawns and early sunsets, just like my favorite scenes
Then holding hands and life was perfect, just like up on the screen
And the whole time while always giving
Counting your face among the living

Up and down escalators, pennies and colder fountains
Elevators and half price sales, trapped in by all these mountains
Running away and hiding with you
I never thought they'd get me here
Not knowing you'd change from just one bite
I fought them all off just to hold you close and tight

But does anyone notice?
But does anyone care?
And if I had the guts to put this to your head...
But would anything matter if you're already dead?
And well should I be shocked now by the last thing you said?
Before I pull this trigger,
Your eyes vacant and stained...

But does anyone notice?
But does anyone care?
And if I had the guts to put this to your head...
And would anything matter if you're already dead?
And now should I be shocked by the last thing you said?
Before I pull this trigger,
Your eyes vacant and stained...
And in saying you loved me,
Made things harder at best,
And these words changing nothing
As your body remains,
And there's no room in this hell,
There's no room in the next,
And our memories defeat us,
And I'll end this direst.

But does anyone notice?
But does anyone care?
And if I had the guts to put this to your head...
But does anything matter if you're already dead?
And should I be shocked now by the last thing you said?
Before I pull this trigger,
Your eyes vacant and stained...
And in saying you loved me,
Made things harder at best,
And these words changing nothing
As your body remains,
And there's no room in this hell,
There's no room in the next,
But does anyone notice there's a corpse in this bed?

Reason - When I first heard this song, it was the beat and such that drew me in, but when I read the lyrics, my heart stopped(not really :wacky:). Honestly, it just shocked me; I was in awe. The lyrics themselves were powerful, and reminded me of Silverstein in a way, and the meaning i got was not just amazing, but purely deep in every way. From what I got from it, the song is about a guy who kills his lover/partner/etc...:gasp:.
