for those who like to play through the game without any difficulties... here is a suggestion. when you first gain access to the training place in Balamb Garden, go to the training ground and keep fighting those weird plant like things... and since the things give you around 100 exp per monster( and you only need 1000 wxp to level up), keep fighting them . in 3 or so hours i got to level 46. great way to make it easy. :D

You see that's one of the things I hate about Final Fantasy VIII, You level up quickly and from such weak monsters, it's just not a challenge.

It's just boring and pointless especially as the monsters level up with you anyway.....I just wait til later when I have the ragnaork before I decide to do any levelling

Does the amount of exp needed to level up not increased, the higher the level you are?

I still quiet liked the game though, was totally different form VII so it was nice to do things differently.

Like bam said, the monsters level up with you, so the amount of exp you get stays fairly constant.

Although that is a n00bish way to make a very easy game easy, all you have to do is draw magic it and junction it.

Yeah, you can be super hard early on with only a low level doing that, it's madness I tell you

No it's 1000 exp per level >_<

The motivation for NOT doing this is the Cactuar GF and trying to get max stats, sure you could beef up super quick but the only beefing I'm interested in is the one to get Mug, past that it seems irrelevant.

I've read some guides that recommend having one character you won't use through the story beefed up so you can level siren and get the items you need pre-cactuar, then switching in your new team at a really low level and leveling them individually with cactuar.

As easy a game as it is, the max stat challenge is hard, definitely worth going for.

my friend gave me the game for the night so i could level up his characters and use the junction system properly so i could prep him for the last boss and within 3-4 hours the characters were maxed it just wasnt hard at all

That's just it, you don't need to max the characters. All you are doing is leveling the enemies up with you. I'm level 10 on disc 3. Going to try and max my stats out so they are 255 each with just junctioning, no +20% str or anything. This takes much money though and should take me forever heh.

Like others have said, leveling is pretty pointless in this game. Junctioning magic will make your characters more powerful, though it's generally just as tedious.

An easy way to boost your hp by about 3000 near the beginning of the game is have siren learn the ability where you can refine cure magic from items. I think she can learn this ability as soon as you get her, if not you can learn it long before you ever get off disc 1. (when cura is still way too high a level spell for you to find.) You can refine 10 curagas from 1 tent, available at any point in the game at a normal item shop. Buy 30 tents and you have enough curagas for your 3 person party, basically putting you in god-mode for the first half of the game since no enemies are going to be able to put a dent in your unholy pile of hp.

They really made that game too easy.

IM SO DOING THAT (im replaying it at the moment, and only just started!! thanks d00d)

Yeah, don't underestimate those refine abilities. I always learn card mod right away too, because it lets Quistis learn most of her blue magic spells as soon as you start out. Ifrit's ammo refine abilities also converts normal ammo to quick ammo, which is handy for Irvine if you like using him.

i have played through FFVIII twice, the first time.. i basically did not use junction at all, cos i didnt get it, (i was 13)

second time hardly used it, and did not get any optional gf's

so 3rd time im actually making a DECENT save file, hehe :)

so feel free to give me more junction tips xD

I played through the first disc recently, but then got bored of it and didn't continue past the prison part of the second disc. Last time I played before that was years ago, so my memory of anything but the first disc is pretty much...nonexistent.

Beating the spider thing in the beginning can get you a power wrist, that'll net you an extra +40% strength ability. (Ifrit learns it naturally.) You also get a healthy pile of AP. You do miss out on a pretty sweet movie though.

Learning mug as early as you can helps you get lots of neat-o stuff. Diablo is easy to beat if you use blind. He's also an early source for demi, which is a good spell for junctioning. (If you feel like spending the time to draw 100 demis. The same goes for drawing any spell though I suppose.)
