Yesterday, me and my blockmate were walking around the mall and I saw her biting her nails. Once I took a closer look at her hands, I realized that each fingernail of hers was just around half an inch! :gasp:

She told me that habit or mannerism of hers has been around since she was a kid. She can't seem to put a stop to it anymore.

I also know someone who cusses for every little thing.
And also someone who twirls her long hair around her finger when she talks.

Do you have any?

I have a habit of biting my nails ONLY when I'm nervous, other than that I can just avoid biting them. I also seem to have a habit of tapping my foot on the floor over and over again if I'm bored...apparently it gets on some peoples nerves so I just do it anyway. :wacky:

Um, let me think....

Oh yeah, I do have a habit of twirling my hair around my finger when I'm nervous. One of my boyfriends back in high school actually commented on that one. I also tend to not look at someone directly in the face when I talk. >.> I guess it depends on the topic, but I noticed this habit and it really annoys me. Can't help it though.

Yeah, I have the same thing -__-

Yet, sometimes when I'm concentrating too I have a habit of sticking my tongue out, just an inch, and bite it. There is a really good pic of me doing it, back when I was 6 :gasp:

When I'm thinking, I have a habit of resting my lower lip on my right index finger, kinda like when L thinks in Death Note, the thing he does with his thumb.

I tend to put empty things back in the fridge, milk bottles are my weapon of choice.

Plus lately it's been brought to my attention that when I stop to rest during football matches / practice, I have a habit put my hands on my hips. Which in practice under my new coaches is a penalty... Suffice to say I'm doing 15 press-ups every 10 minutes or so on Tuesday & Thursday nights for the last three weeks. I just can't stop the habit.

People tell me I can't sit/stand still...which is true. If I'm sitting down, I'll rock in my chair, tap my foot constantly, or find some other way to move around. This gets on the nerves of my professors every now and then. While standing, my feet won't remain planted for more than ten seconds. Even if I remain in a single spot, I'll shift my footing and find other ways to move. Sorta weird.

If I make a concious effort to remain still, I can do it. Unfortunately, I can only remain focused on that for a few minutes at a time. Darn.

You get punished for placing your hands on your hips as you catch your breath? That's ridiculous. Plenty of people do that after long workouts or jogs. Makes it easier to breath since you're increasing lung capacity.

I remember I always used to bite my nails short, but I seemed to stop when me mum put lemon on them. :monster:

My nails are all fine nao, I just can't resist fixing my nails wif mah teef. :gasp:

I do have a bad habit drifting off while I wait somewhere, like I was when I was lining up for this roller coaster and then I suddenly drifted off thinking about this woman beside me who looked like Queen Brahne. :gasp:

Habit is quite a thing that can never be stopped. :monster:

Well, I dunno of any of my own but I do know of many people who have such habits... For example I know a guy who can't stop putting his hair into his mouth, and another one that can't stop using every new word he learns as an insult...

I tend to chew on things a lot, like my fingers, plastic bottles, straws, foil, paper, necklaces... everything except chewing gum. :wacky: I think I must have an oral fixation, I'll put anything in my mouth as long as it's not obviously covered in dirt. I don't feel comfortable if I'm not chewing on something. ><

I have a habit of playing with my hair too, like twirling it or putting it up and taking it down again or just running my fingers through it.

I can't stand still either without swaying or twirling in circles or pacing about.

I've got a friend in the army who's told not to put his hands on his hips either. The penalty is a lot more than 15 press ups too. :wacky: Apparently the best thing to do is to raise your arms above your head, that way your airway isn't restricted or something...

I'm exactly the same, except I will chew chewing gum. One of my old History teachers used to go mental when he caught me chewing. It got to the point that whenever I walked into the room, he'd tell me to take it out.
I chew my nails a lot too. I can't remember when the last time I actually cut them was. I also tend to tap my fingers on the desk or chair or something when I'm sitting, usually to some tune.

Oh aye, I can imagine being in the army and all that. But it's still a pisstake having to do them. Hands on the head makes it look like I'm dancing in the middle of the Macarena though and I can't be having that.

Another habit, using my feet to turn things on or open/shut things such as fridge doors, bedroom door, car door, McDonald doorways, pushing the button to to turn the tele over, light switches if I'm feeling I have some dexterity in my legs...

Hahaha, I do that too. xD Light switches, tv, doors.. I always feel the need to do it with my feet. :wacky: And if I have to pick something up from the floor I'll try and do it with my feet too, and not give up until I've managed. >_>

I also have the habit of trying to reach things from where I'm standing even though I could just like, take a step forward. Like, if I want to turn a light on or open a door when I'm standing in the middle of a room, I'll try and do it without moving my feet. >_>

It's a challenge isn't it! Haha.

Ooh and another one is in the night when I get up to get a drink I tend to fill both my hands up with crisps, chocolate and random food and then to switch the kitchen light off I use my forehead, takes a couple of tries though :)

Let's see,,,

I ramble on and on when I am nervous. I also tend to complain alot when I am stressed. =D.

When I am thinking I pace and talk to myself.

When I get hot or sweaty I tend to stand in an awkward position and I cannot let my arms rest down on my sides because of how nasty it feels. haha.

xD

I do the same as well, especially when flushing public toilets. I push doors open with my feet because I really don't wanna touch any handles. I also tend to bounce up and down a little on my seat whenever something delicious goes inside my mouth. =] Childish-like, I know.

I have a few terribly unmanaged mannerisms.

I'll rub my neck when I'm talking to people I don't really know, constantly fiddle with my jacket cuffs all the time (although most when I'm nervous), and I have a horrible habit of resting my left index finger on my bottom lip whenever I'm trying to concentrate on something.

I'm guilty of this too. The sound of mum yelling at me as I use my toes to slide the dish washing shelf thingo back in comes to mind.

I also tend to not look at someone directly in the face when I talk. >.> I guess it depends on the topic

And this, although I found out that it was a subconscious action for people who haven't shown any signs of self-worth.

Likewise.

You can just imagine how much germs handles must have.

I usually flush public toilets using my feet or with a tissue in hand. One time, I used the toilet and my friend used it after me and I saw that she flushed it with her bare hand. :wacky:

I mess with my hair alotm, especially if Im wearing it down

I had the really annoying habit of cracking my knuckles and my wrists all the time aswel, I've done it for years

I'm also realy fidgety which probably annoys afew people :monster:
