Members Album Idea

We will be restarting the member's picture and discussion threads since it's about time afterall. However, we've also brought on a new idea for posting pictures and we would like a general feedback for this since it involves you guys anyway.

Rather than having one main thread for pictures, how would you guys feel about starting your own album thread instead? This way, your pictures won't be buried as much amidst others in a few week's time. The discussions will remain the same - one main thread for everyone to post in, that way the members' picture threads will strictly be for posting pictures only.

We realize that if we do implement this idea, we'll have to organize the Photo Album section obviously, but we just wanted to see how well this idea will be received by the members first.

So, yay or nay?

Could be a pain for you guys to orgnaise with the amount of members that come one here just to post pics. I kinda like things the way they are with just the thread and the discussion thread but im up for anything really.

Just make you a thread and update them is pretty simple so that way people can just browse if they want to through whoever's pics and whatnot

I don't post pics so I doesn't affect me, but wahey. That's my opinion. You could put the old thread in a different section, but allow no new posts so you still have all images.

I think this will be better to be honest. even though I wont post a pic till I have a really good day I still like this idea. But what would happen if newbies post pics and never come back will we still need to keep there album up? But yesh this is MUCH mor organized but I still like the old way too

It's a really good idea, but the Mods will have massive job trying to keep it in order.
Im up for it. It sounds like it would be a good idea to put into practice.
Maybe do a test run??

i think its abit too much like hard work really, whats the point? aside from people who want to picture stalk? theres nowt wrong with the picture thread as it is, is there? Im not arsed if my pics get buried amongst the masses, it happens, I mean, yeah, we could be due another member pic thread, but individual ones......nah, I dont see the point

Psst - am I the only one who's wondering how on Earth it's going to be difficult to organise? 1 thread per member doesn't sound too strenuous to me.

That said, I don't think there's anything wrong with the way that it works right now. No one has any problems, or has had any for the last 4 years (nearly), so I don't see why we should fix something that isn't broken.

Other than that, I can see a popularity contest taking place. You can see the number of views a thread has and you can see whose thread is always at the top (or not).

Nah, I'm voting conservatively.

Perhaps remake the threads to bring it up to date, but...I don't see how having a member picture thread and a member picture discussion thread can possibly be... complicated/bad/whatever.

Not exactly going with the whole "if it's not broken, don't fix it" scenario here. xD We know it's not 'broken'. It was just something we thought the members may want too and throwing the possibility out there.

That said, we can stick with creating another Member's Picture thread and then I suppose if other members want to have their own separate album, then they can certainly do so seeing as a few have somewhat started making their own picture threads anyway, now that I look at it. That way it won't seem like it's a requirement to start your own thread.

We just mean that we think there's no point in changing the way that we do things when the current way works perfectly fine.

I quite like the current idea. And yeah, as people before have said, it's gonna be very difficult to set up a thread per person, and very fussy as well, compared to the current one.

But the majority has voted for this idea

The popularity contest thing is actually a good point y'know I think I'm gonna give it a no. Just leave things the way they are, if people really want to just let them browse through the thread, and the album thing sounds more bother than it's worth, so I'm gonna give it a no.

Perhaps it would be better if it were easier to find posts by one member. If the window that shows you has the most posts in a thread was in alphabetical order it would be much easier to find pictures of one person in particular, without people going on about a popularity contest.
However I'm not sure if that would be possible.

Nah, go figure. It's not possible. Just gonna give us the same ole' sort by whoever has the most posts in the topic sort of thing.

I'm all up for either really. I mean I only post a few pics so my topic would not have much in it but a few pics here and there. It wouldn't be hard to maintain at all, but with the Member Picture Thread, I guess it is cool just going through page after page and seeing what everyones showing off, ya know?

I'm fine with it how it is now and how it has been. I'll go either way.

I think its a good idea overall. I mean, you can have your own thread to throw pictures into, which is sort of like the new "ask questions about me" threads, where it's personalized. Even with that, you can just comment on their thread instead of having one generic one where you see a comment like "nice picture" and you're not sure who they're talking about. Another benefit is that the person will have total control over their own thread, unlike the generic one where random conversations will start that end up having nothing to do with the pictures.

I'm always a fan of organization, and I think this will be a good thing. Sure, this creates quite and advantage for stalkers, but if they're going to work hard on stalking you, they'll find you in the overall picture thread anyways.

Hmm now that you mention this, the closest thing I can think of is hitting CTRL+F and just typing the current member's username that you want to search for and voila. Works effectively as the alphabet thing, I guess.

But anyway, thanks for input, everyone! Like I said in my post earlier, we'll go ahead and stick with how it's been and still give members the option to create their own picture album if they wish. I realized that a few have sorta started doing that already so either way, everyone's happy.

I'll close this thread now then.
