Final fantasy 6, what an epic adventure.. Possibly the best and my favourite soundtrack out of the series. My opinion of this game has been recently shifting, the more time passes since I played the game the more I am coming to like it. I wonder if this game will ever be remade or ported over to the psp, ds or something.. Why is Square Enix ignoring this game very existence, its not like its unpopular or anything. So what are your thoughts? Do you think a port/2d remake of the same quality of Final Fantasy 4 the complete collection would be something to look forward to? Or would you rather leave the game untouched?

Personally I would very much welcome a "ff4 complete collection" kind of remaster/remake for final fantasy 6. Also it would be cool to implement a mini prequel title portraying the events of the empire before the main game, something like The after years but a prequel instead where they could implement kefka's back story as it was told in the Ultimania guide of the game. Also giving us more light on the whole formation of the empire and stuff.

Also SE may not be doing very well with recent final fantasy titles (arguably) but when it comes to ports/remakes they are top notch so please no rants about how SE sucks xD (true or not), dont want to pollute the thread, this is merely to discuss the game's possible port/remake/remaster, little backstory prequel etc.

Final Fantasy VI is by far my favorite of the series. What I love about it is that there really isn't a MAIN character like most but every character has a pivotal role in the story line. The music is probably the best of it's time and even now I find myself humming the awesome soundtrack. The gameplay and story was where all the hype is, something SE needs to realize: a great story line and great gameplay will beat overly done graphics any day. I'd sooned pick up an old title than actually buy these new FF titles these days.

As for a "Complete Collection", I would absolutely love it. Though I must admit, I loved the Final Fantasy IV remake for the DS much more than i liked the Complete Collection on PSP. Seeing familiar events redone with voice overs and cinematics gets me all giddy. Seeing FFVI get this kind of treatment will allow me to die a happy man.

Well.. I would certainly not mind a kind of FF4 DS arrangement to FF6 but I dont really like the chibi character design, it makes the game less serious and the overall feel more lighthearted, something that I dont like. FF9 while certainly having "cute" designs can still mantain the seriousness involved in the events of the game and to me FF4 DS doesnt.

If they did a 3D with more serious graphics and designs it would be certainly welcome but considering the scope of final fantasy 6's world I doubt that would happen in the long run. Why cant they implement VA and some CG cutscenes with the best possible 2D graphics as well as adding the story prequel I would very much appreciate. Also keep the options as in FF 4 complete collection of hearing the new arrangement of the soundtrack or the original version! That would be the best remade package of a game I could ever experience and certainly raise my overall enjoyment of the game(Oh and please reduce the encounter rate a little bit XD).

No, i dont want a remake because the game is over the top and that wouldnt match with the realism SE seeks in current games, how they would recreate the Ghost Train battle or the fight before landing the flying continent? They will change it given how unrealistic fights like those were.

SE better focus on creating new stories instead of using nostalgia to keep afloat.

Oh well but the idea would be perhaps something like FF4 complete collection for 6, with top notch 2D graphics and perhaps add some voice acting. And personally I would love to see the mini prequel depicting the evolution of the empire/kefka,etc before the events of the game.

I did very much enjoy the Final Fantasy 4 Complete Collection. So something like that, at the least, for Final Fantasy VI and Final Fantasy V would be amazing to me as a fan, and would probably bring in newer customers who refuse to play the older FF games based on their SNES/NES graphics.

It would be even better if they remastered (not remake, I don't want that!) the game into PSP and PS2 graphics. Why? Because it would be asking too much to have them remastered in modern engine/consoles since the newer FF titles (FF7-FF10) have not yet had their glory in the new systems, and quite frankly should. I don't think DS graphics would fit FFVI and its story. Final Fantasy VI (and FFV!) need something a bit more serious than that, I think. It has amazing music, a wonderful cast of characters, great villains, nice battles and boss fights, and wonderful locations to explore—like the amazing Mining town of Narshe and the great Imperial castle, as well as Zozo! Plus, FFVI (and FFV) would be a perfect game to include new quests to, as long as they didn't attempt to remove or change the story line.

Over the top? What? Also, since when does SE or the Final Fantasy series—let alone RPGs and video games—care about what is realistic or not? Most gaming companies couldn't care less about what is realistic or not.

How would they do it, you ask? The same way they did it on the SNES; they create a floating island/continent in their pick of graphics (engine) and recreate it all—the scenes, music, chests, put in some enemies, put in Kefka and the Emperor, and then start the whole scene process. It is, after all, a Fantasy. What most games are about.

So, even if SE were to focus on "new stories" instead of remaking some of their classic games the stories will still, no doubt, be unrealistic with just about the same amount of absurdly unrealistic battles or scenarios.

I can't really comment on the story or the game itself because I have yet to play it :/
I'll get onto that one after I beat IV, but anyways back on track. I think it'd be a great idea for them to do a remaster of all of the older games personally because there's alot of graphic whores out there that won't give old retro games a time of day because they're not "sexy looking."
However, with a remaster it would attract players to try these games out and see what they were missing out on.
That's my 2 cents.

I want a Locke Cole Returns and be able to dress him up in beautiful costumes ! And a Final Fantasy VI-2 staring Celes Chere and Edgar hunting down a sexy new villain voiced by Kain Highwind's VA.

And then Square- Enix to mention how beautiful the characters are, like a stunning rose.

:ari:

(Also a Final Fantasy VI anime like dating game where you could flirt with Locke, Setzer, Edgar and Sabin.)

I think I'd prefer a remaster (FF4 DS style) rather than a sequel. The FF sequels and spin-offs normally have this lower quality feel to them, and they're hardly ever as good (exception being 13-2). A remaster though would be grand, 'cause like some others have said, it will bring in more people to see one of the better games in the series.
