Most anticlimactic moment in FF7?

I remember playing the game for the first time. The Ancients fascinated me and the way they kept going on about Sephiroth, Jenova and Aerith being Cetra created a real mystery to all three of them. So I spent the whole game up to the Temple of the Ancients where Sephiroth and Aerith finally share screen time..... .....and not a word is spoken between the Last Ancient and the only other sharing her blood (even though it proved not to be the case). It was utterly anticlimactic and actually diminished the rest of the game.

"I am one of the rightful Heirs of this Planet!"

"The Ancients... Sephiroth, Jenova and myself..."

It would have been great to see some kind of meaningful interaction or plot point, beyond:

"Sephiroth is not a Cetra."

"I am far superior to the Ancients."

It just seemed to come out of nowhere and was so dissapointing.

Are there any scenes you'd consider anticlimactic?

CC was a let down, I had an illusion that Cloud was awesome, and Aeris and Cloud were in love. Then I saw CC, and it was all proven to not be true, not only that but the people at square wanted to make Zack seem better, and Zack did the whole "Living legacy" thing at the end of ACC, which if I were Cloud would be like, "Yo, you didn't do shit Zack! I'm the one who killed Sephiroth..... 3 times!!!" But I was quite pleased, with everything from VII, except the part where I don't get to fight half of the WEAPONS, and speaking of that, I don't like the generic branding of SOLDIER, and WEAPON, oh geez, I wonder what those are, the whole WEAPON thing kinda made it feel les epic than it really was. KOTR lived up to it's awesomeness. Ultima Weapon, and Premium Heart were let downs. Also the last fight, if you just stand there and do nothing Sephy will just decide to die.... actually now that I look back there were some anticlimactic stuff.

I got one.

As a rabid, foaming-at-the-mouth Cloti fan, I thought the night under the Highwind was anti-climatic.

We never really saw if there was an actual climax to that moment, now do we? :kinky:

Any Cloti fan will know what I'm talking about, right Six? :tehe:

I found the whole love triangle thing rather anticlimatic
Everyone was like Cloud loves Aerith or Cloud loves Tifa or Cloud is gay duh! yadayada...
I have never seen so much intensity over a videogame love triangle in my life I must say o_O
My boyfriend told me most people just pair Cloud with the girl they prefer and to play the game myself and decide for myself who I thought loved who.
So I did, I decided to play the game being affectionate to both girls. I adored both Tifa and Aerith instantly so that was easy.

I got the impression he loved both girls. But the whole thing is so optional choice so it really is up to the player either way.
I was expecting either a great tragic romance or a sweet childhood romance from what people were telling me and it wasn't either :/
The story itself was awesome and interesting but the whole love aspect I found rather meh.
Very anticlimactic to me.
Though I have to say I adore both couples, they're so adorable in their own ways.

That and the final Sephiroth battle, it was so easy compared to Ultimecia and Kuja/Necron. Major let down.

Anticlimactic moment? :hmmm:

The lifestream scene. It's just weird.

Here they were in this big freaking battle to save earth and than BAM! we have to slow down into some scene like this. It really kills the mood of "they're gonna die!1!!1" :lew: but I know it had to happen so Cloud could regain consciousness, so thank goodness it did happen. :ryan:

Another anticlimactic scene... :hmmm:

Nope, that's all I can think of :lew:

The entire Nibelheim flashback story telling was wretched, I hate going through it; and the reason behind this is its completely anti-climatic, I mean you bust out of Midgar and shit starts getting real and then BAM! Story telling time? Really?

I could never understand what the hell was up with that. But I think the breaks in between with everyone talking made it that much worse :gonk:

Looking in Tifa's drawers and finding her orthopedic underwear was exceptionally anticlimatic.

:awesome:

But really, I also thought the Lifestream event wasn't so much anything too great. Then again, I never liked the idea that Cloud needed someone's help to remember. I thought he should have been able to do it on his own.

The part where Tifa asks: "did you sleep well".

Selecting the option to reply: "next to you, who wouldn't".

Her answer was pretty anti-climactic, bro. :ohshit:

I completely agree with you on this one, every time I replay the game I absolutely dread the storytelling time at Kalm.

Anti-climactic being the premise of the thread this post is invalid coz i r say so!

The Kalm scene was a chore, I doubt anyone really anticipated that event as exciting. But I digress..........Until it was remedied somewhat in CC the whole Zack ark was a bit of a let down simply put Cloud was a poser. With some more depth and fleshing out of the story the whole legacy thing was a nice touch.

Its good to be back(ever so briefly)

Anyone else think Sephiroth's final move where a comet explodes the entire solar system (which takes 10 minutes) and then finally hits you to only do like 500 damage was anti-climatic? How about when he did it like 5 more times?

I totally agree with you. I love this game, but dread the Nimbelheim marathon flashback.

As others have said, the lifestream moment between Tifa and Cloud is also a bit dull. I like a good flashback now and again, but in moderation! It kills any momentum that the story had been gathering.

Unless you're playing a low level game, you're wrong. Supernova [The spell you're referring to] does damage = to 93% of your characters health... that being said, unless you're rockin' less than 600 health, Supernova doesn't do "like 500 damage". Also... to add to the devestation of having 7% health left, it also causes status changes to your characters, so it's hardly anti-climactic if you're to say that it doesn't make or break the battle.

Combined with his other attack Deen, Sephiroth could actually defeat any party, it's just that he follows a scripted move set, so he's very predictable. If his moves were pseudo-random, he would prove to be a worthy challenge to any party whatsoever once in awhile.

I don't think people understand just how realistic FF7 is, rather than dramatic. FF7 isn't some daytime drama you watch where the show intentionally fixates the plot to shock and amaze you with drama at every chapter... it's more realistic than that. For instance, someone mentioned that it was anti-climactic that Sephiroth and Aeris didn't exchange words in the City of the Ancients. No, if the events in FF7 had unfolded in real life, they would have been much more realistic the way they are in the game than to sugarcoat every chapter with something dramatic.

I don't understand why people say the "Kalm story-telling time" is so hard to bare either. I must be one of a few who actually does welcome that chapter in the game because the background story in it so amazing that it never gets old. In fact, I always used to keep a save at that point because I liked to go back and watch it again... Sephiroths chaotic breakdown mixed with the dark chanting soundtrack they used is unforgettable.

FF7 isn't your typical [And boring] constant-button-mash RPG, it's a story and a damn good one... if you find the story line chapters in the game to be unbearable, then you really don't appreciate FF7 for what makes it one of the greatest games of all time... it just means you're a button-masher and nothing else.

Then I read that people don't like the "Tifa & Cloud Lifestream" chapter because it's "Dull". The first time I played FF7, I found that part of the game to be so interesting and insightful. I yearned to know more about the story and characters and that chapter gave more than enough. Again, whoever doesn't appreciate that chapter of the game really doesn't care for a good story, all they want is constant button-mashing with no care for why they're supposed to be mashing the buttons in the first place.

I swear, if I didn't know better, I'd think you guys have never read a good book in your lives...

Anti-climactic? The Gold Saucer. I hate going to that place. I just think it's so out of place with the rest of the setting. Unless I'm going there to get Omnislash, I dread going through the place to continue the story.

Here I am playing the game for the first time, waiting in anticipation of what this place really is; and I learn it's just a damn amusement park. I was like :ffs:

Oh, please. That just means we can be honest. Seriously, dude. I love Final Fantasy VII. Come to think of it, VII is the only FF title I can even stand to play or like. So don't try and tell fans that if they don't exactly drool at the mouth for every scene that we're less a fan than you, k.

I appreciate VII to the fullest. And while you say it's ONE of the greatest, I say it's THE greatest game. So don't be trying to tell me that I'm less a fan because I can be honest and state a dislike for a certain scene or not.

A real fan loves it for any flaws it might have.

Aerith and Cloud still love each other though. ^_^ Zack and Aerith are said to be puppy love from the past. And the creator said Cloud has an undying feeling for Aerith and that she's engraved in his heart for eternity and that her consciousness lives on inside of him and not to mention, Aerith has said that she undoubtedly loves Cloud much more than she ever loved Zack. So it wasn't an illusion you had. You have every reason to believe Cloud/Aerith are in love. :ryan:

And Cloud is still awesome. :mokken: Although, taking everything from Cloud and retconing it to Zack is pretty annoying I must say. :hmph:

I loved the gold saucer! But by god going from Corel to GS was like a paradigm shift gone wrong

when aeris died. it wasnt gruesome enough.

i thought her and sephiroth mightve got it on before he penetrated her with his big long sephtana.

i'd have liked to see that sex scene in ffvii graphics. i mean would you look at this guy sincerely :jim:

now you :toni:

When Cloud raises his sword to kill Aerith but doesn't go through with it.

Just kidding.

One of the most anti-climatic moments for me was when you have to defend Fort Condor from the "approaching army." I spent loads of gil arming that place with soldiers. They all die and when the enemy invades its one monster that I kill in a few hits and YAY you saved Fort Condor.

I basically have to agree with this right here,
this or I will have to say the whole scene when you bring Aerith's home till after you go into the sewers at Sector 6.
Really I hated collecting all the items to dress cloud up like a girl and really it does nothing but try to add humor in a part of the game that didn't need the humor yet. Really before this point the story wasn't even defined yet, you knew nothing of Sephiroth and all you really knew was an evil energy company was sucking the life out of the planet.
