So many games have "in game" rumors.

Everything from secret characters, to secret bosses, secret weapons, secret rooms... and many other crazy things... Now in some cases these rumors hold SOME truth to them... but overall, most are just crazy and fake.

So what were some of the best in game rumors you have heard of?

Some of the worst?

Some of the most creative?

Not sure if this counts, but I remember reading a rumor for WWF Smackdown 2 on PS1, saying that if you played 500 years of season mode, that you'd unlock Sable as a playable character. Folks, it was hell getting through one year of that season mode. There was no way I was going to attempt that. I don't think anybody has or will. So whether that is true or not will remain unknown. And it will remain a rumor. (I played through season mode as Paul Bearer, btw)

I think the most famous rumor here pertains to FFVII.

If you didn't know,

The rumor was that you could revive Aerith/Aeris by fulling mastering 16x Revive Materias and 1 Full Life. And once you have those, return to the Temple of the Ancients where the waterfall is, and there should have been a special cutscene of Aerith reviving.

Or something of the sort, I just remember reading something close to that lmfao.

Another FF7 rumor incoming! It's that one where you go to the bridge in the Kalm backstory (near the start of the game) and stay on the bridge long enough.

Wooo! We can now use Sephiroth throughout the game! :yay:

The first time I played Pokemon, my friend told me if I let Pikachu die in combat it would like me more.

Also told me I needed a Master Ball to catch Mewtwo.

come to think of it though, i've really never paid much attention to rumors

i think that was true for the japanese version. in the japanese one you can also swap the submarine and the highwind for the dune buggy and the bronco somehow, but i can't remember what it is you do.

there was one going round once for, i think, ff8 where if you played for 100 hours you could do over 9999 damage. it may be true i suppose since i never bothered trying it.

Another FFVII one that apparently gets Zack to join your party.

When you're on the way to blow up the second reactor you visit, if you jump off the train without going through any of the other cars, you can backtrack to a point where there's a gateway guarded by Shinra soldiers. If you fight them, more will keep coming but after each battle you get the choice to leg it. There's a seemingly never ending supply of them, but apparently if you fight them 500 times without running, Zack will show up and help you finish them off and then join your party. Me and a friend tried this back when we were ten and I still can't believe what possessed us to try it out.

Needless to say, it didn't work. :monster:

I once read a cheat rumour for FFIX. It stated that in the scene at one of the gates where Garnet changes her clothes (behind a box or something, I think), and you have to stand guard over her (as Steiner I think, but it may have been Zidane), if you keep running up and down you eventually get to see her naked. I think the rumour went like that anyway.

Regardless, my friend and I tried it but it did not happen.

I don't often hear odd and crazy rumours for many games other than FF games though. I think FF games tend to attract this sort of thing.
