The official Japanese website for Final Fantasy XIII was updated the other day and now contains four new tracks from the FFXIII OST which have previously been unheard.

Tsk. My love for Final Fantasy music is getting the better of me.

@ First Video

The first one sounds so tribal to me. Carries a strange air of mystery at the beginning but edges towards a cinema-like climax, almost feels like watching a movie at some action-packed point. Then suddenly, moves into a light-hearted sounding tune, which dies away, returning back to the beginning.

On the whole, I like how mysterious this sounds. When it builds up into the climax, it sounds really epic, which appeals strongly to me. Nice.

@ Second Video

Hm. Sounds rather heroic to me. I wouldn't like this as much as the first. The song repeats itself midway through the 2 minutes 35 seconds. I'd think this would be played at some point when a character makes a heroic decision, :P

Then again, that's what I feel.

@ Third Video

Sounds like rather nostalgic, as if reminiscing some past moments of happiness or something. Sounds soothing, and easy to listen to.

@ Chocobo Theme

Wow. The wierdest Chocobo Theme I've heard.... I don't like this one. Sounds rather jazzy? Saxophone playing about, with some serious drum playing...

Hmm, over-all impressions is that it sounds pretty kewl. I'm sure if I were to hear the themes with the scenes they would play behind it would probably match well enough, but just from hearing the themes alone, they sound nice.

I recognize the third one to be the main theme of the game (or at least a variation of the battle theme we've heard). Over-all, the soundtrack so far feels like a mix of the FFX and FFXII tracks, to me anyways.

I forget, whose the composer of FFXIII?

So far so good, my faves the chocobo theme its so upbeat lol with a hint of the old mix, number one sounds like something that ff7 rejected in my opinion lol number two sounds like a battle march pretty decent, and i just flat out didnt like number three it sounds very sad like someone should be dieing whilst it plays, all in all it seems good

..

I forget, whose the composer of FFXIII?

Masashi Hamauzu. Co-composer of the music in Final Fantasy X, as well as main composer for Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus. The main theme was originally supposed to be composed by Nobuo Uematsu, but he left it solely to Hamauzu after being selected as the composer for Final Fantasy XIV.

I really like the sound of the first one, like how it starts off then gets into it

2nd one kinda reminds me of FFVII for some reason, really like this one as well though, sounds rather epic, I can liek imagine Soldiers or summat with this one

Number 3 liked the start of but it sounds abit gay in the middle.... I love a good sound track, I hope there's some really epic peices in there as well, I dont want it all to be sounding all pretty.

Omg, the chocobo theme reminds me of Sonic the Hedgehog :ffs:

I really liked his work in FFX. I thought his and Junya Nakano's songs in that game were better than Uematsu's.

I'm loving the Chocobo theme right now. It's quick and and jazzy, and I think it might end up being my favorite in the series.

Ahaha, maybe that's why I like it so much.

I really like the start and the ending of the first one. I think it should have been like that the whole way through. The middle of it didn't sound very good.

But yeah the others didn't really sound that great. I think I need to have a scene put with them to appreciate them more.
