okay so i was reading online about final fantasy 13 and apparently it will consist of more than 3 games and that not all will be ps3 exclusives !

the following information is from wikipedia

"Square Enix president Yōichi Wada likened the Fabula Nova Crystallis compilation to that of the likes of Star Wars and has stated that it could span a decade. Toriyama stated in the Playstation Magazine Australia that the Fabula Nova Crystallis series is slated to be a multi-platform series, not exclusive only to the PlayStation 3 and mobile phones.

At E3 2006, Square Enix called the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII, which at this moment includes 6 games, 1 film, 1 OVA and 2 novels, a "50 billion yen project" (roughly 420 million USD) and said it would span until the 20th anniversary of Final Fantasy VII (2017). In turn, they called the new Fabula Nova Crystallis project a "100 billion yen project" (roughly 840 million USD) which gives the impression that Fabula Nova Crystallis would span quite a number of years and include many more titles, possibly including films, books, anime, manga, toys, etc."

NEW INFO ANNOUNCED AT GDC 2008 - the game engine for ff13 has now been renamed crystal tools ( formerly white engine) it has been developed for use with ps3, 360 and pc! a scaled down version will also be used in the wii

also Taku Murata (General Manager of Square Enix's Research & Development division) stated the one of the reasons for developing the engine for pc's is because it will be used in conjunction with the development of a new MMO that Square Enix is working on.

Ermm, well this isn't really new information actually, but yes this is all true. There is a XII MMORPG in progress. Rather silly in my opinion. :/

Also lets avoid making one-liner posts in the future. >_>

It was always going to be inevitable that XIII would stay PS3 exclusive for the next 10 years. The PS3 will most likely get the main games such as XIII, XIII Versus etc simply because the SE are trying to push each console to its limit and, therefore, need more disc space in which the PS3 has the largest whilst the DS, Xbox360, Wii and Mobile will get the spin-offs followed by the PC/360 which will get the MMOs because they attract more online gamers and the PC has bigger servers... ie, CoD4 for the PC can have 54 players whilst the 360/PS3 can have 18 max.

How exactly are they going to manage that when each console can surpass another with disc space, HD etc?

PS3 - HD, Blue-Ray 25GB/50GB DL
360 - HD, 4.7GB DVD
PC - 4.7GB DVD but would be able to use multiple discs
Wii - Nintendo Optical Disc (or whatever it uses)

Nah, the information's not new. We already have specific forums for each of these titles and have done so for a long time. :wacky:

Based on those "possibilities," however, I can see XIII turning into another compilation series already and we haven't even played the original yet. They're risking quite a bit by expanding the game over so many titles before it's even been tested.

This could be kind of a mixed blessing. I hope they pull this off and make each game worth playing. It would really suck to have like two good games and the rest really weak in terms of story and game play.

I'm confused, is 13 or 12 going to spawn an mmo? And whats this about the battle engine also being used for an mmo, mmo's are fun but I'm not looking for a that type of platform rpg battle.

Same I've heard there is going to be mmo for FFXII...but I may have been FFXIII xD
Either way, although most people hated FFXI and didn't class it as a Final Fantasy game (like myself) it must have been a big hit otherwise they wouldn't make a new one. :P

This talk was only about the white engine to be used for future games and not about FFXIII as being exclusive or not. I do expect SE to announce new games to be made by the white engine for the ps3 and xbox 360.

As for FFXIII and Versus, they are going to be exclusive. It was confirmed million times by SE. Only if the sales are a huge disappointed they might consider making a port.

That's what I think anyway.

I've seen all this before but I can also say that there is meant to be seven games in the series and that the whole Xbox 360 and nintendo wii thing won't work out because of the different format they would pretty much have to remake the game for the transfere.

I also have seen some pics from one of the ceil phone games and my comment is that becuase of the graphics it won't run on most phones.

exactly why is it silly?

it's already known that FFXI no longer competes on the MMORPG market.. perhaps with this new engine and the experience of FFXI, they may be able to create an MMORPG that will actually be able to compete much much longer

because personally i find the advancing in FFXI and the gameplay pretty horrible compared to many other MMORPG's
also the reason i quit playing it, eventhough i still long to playing FF classes(red mage, summoner and other stuff that's typical to FF)

That's stupid, They made a compilation for FFVII after they saw how did it succeed, but FFXIII isn't out yet so they've no clue if it's going to be successful or not, They are risking too many chances.

Omg!!! I have been searching for a forum like this for ages!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyone here have anymore news concerning the aimed-for worldwide similtanious release of FFXIII? If it happens, all further Final Fantasy titles will be worwide released by standard.
Also, FFXIII most likely will not be released this year as Dragon Quest IV is also being released and SE staff have announced that they don't want two games of such high profiles to be released so close to each other as it would be detrimental to their business, so it looks as though 2009 remains the closest target......

Anyone here have any thoughts on why the crystal that instructs Lightning is commanding her to destroy Cocoon when it was the crystals who initially created the floating metropolis????

Sorry is if I kinda ranted a bit there....o_O

if this information is accuret then we are looking at possibly the best final fantasy game to come out since final fantasy 7 so just all ofus ff fans will just have to wait and see what will become of ff13.

No idea why. that's seems interesting, Where did you read or hear that?

Maybe it has something to do with like in FFX SIN, FFVII Weapon.. Society is doing something bad so the cocoon is punishing them..

I think being the 'best game since VII' all comes down to personal preference.=/
I do hope they release XIII simultaneously, I always hated the way you'd have to avoid threads because we get the game six months later than everyone else, but, if they don't I'm going to order it from America :neomon:

The crystal commanding her to destory it sounds very interesting though :gasp:
