Nintendo NEW NINTENDO CONSOLE: Nintendo 3DS

Wow those 3D effects are amazing! I do wish they wouldn't keep coming out with these new handheld systems though... it feels like there's a new one almost every year. I wish they'd just wait a bit and come out with a much better one every few years.

Eh? Isn't that DSi XL just around the corner?

But the next hardware step to go 3D is interesting. It says it will be compatible with the DS and DSi games, so will they get enhanced 3D effects or something? :hmmm:

I bought a DSi XL this time last week, as well. I am slightly pissed off.

...still getting this on launch day. Just because. Its Nintendo, it'll be worth the money. Well, unless its over £250, in which case I'll wait until it drops in price.

Although, to be honest, I expect more of Nintendo than this. They have always surpassed themselves with the initiative they've shown...just some 3D and a motion sensor isn't exactly revolutionary.

I do have to admit the concept does sound interesting but I am on the fence about this one. If this a completely new handheld then I may buy it but if it is another DS upgrade then I will probably wait until it becomes very cheap. No doubt it will probably cost at least 200$ and I don't believe 3D is worth buying a new DS at that price since I still have my DS Lite that still works very well.

If it's a totally new console, I'll probably buy it. Nintendo are always pretty good when it comes to handhelds, so if it's new, it's definitely the way forward.

If it's just yet another DS upgrade, meaning any future games can still be played on a DS Lite, I won't bother.

This wasn't what I expected when I came across those rumours of a new DS successor abound. It's slightly underwhelming actually - though I'm still intrigued to see what playing with it will be like. I haven't actually done much reading about the 3DS, but I imagine that the 3D is just done with visual trickery or something. Knowing Nintendo, they wouldn't be using cutting-edge 3D technology at work here.

I can't see myself buying this anytime soon. I already have the original DS and a DS Lite. To me, these are all the DSs I need in a lifetime. I wonder how the 3DS will be received and whether or not having it announced so soon after the XL's release will affect the latter's sales.

All the different kinds of ds that came out doesnt really make a difference in gaming except that dsi has a camera and internet. And this perhaps to be another new one.If this one will have its own games, then im looking forward to new donkey kong and mario games.

I saw this on Kotaku and thought to myself
"this will fail"
why you might ask?

in all seriousness its gonna sell like hot cakes its a nintendo handheld it'll sell millions upon millions upon millions

just wish Nintendo would come up with another idea:gonk:

If this is a new system and not just another update to DS, then I'll be looking forward to 5th generation Pokémon games coming out on it. :D

For now, I'll have to settle for Pokémon SoulSilver Version once I can get it, looking forward to that Pokéwalker thing, that sounds really cool. ^_^

But yeah, just another DS model or no, it sounds very interesting, but I'll have to hear more before I can decide whether I will be buying it or not, it's not like just getting another game, it costs a lot more money. :hmmm:

Personally I prefer the non-portable consoles--the only time I really have to play games is when I'm at home anyway--but this could be interesting I suppose. Having a DS already though, I probably wouldn't buy anything like this until they had made more advancements--maybe 10 years from now or so :hmmm:

oh this is GAY! Shit, i just got a DSi (a present, but, my cousin bought it and she told me she was going to buy it). Damnit!

I like all consoles actually, portable or not. In actual fac, i think im only missing a PS3....

I understand that this not a rehash, but the next stop for Nintendo. i new system entirely, and the successor of the DS, but that's beside the point. I will not be buying because they will just revamp it within a year and a half. I have always been a loyal fan to nintendo up until the wii cmme out, and they make 3 different DS systems. i know there were multiple GBA's, but at least those brought something useful to the table, and not something non gaming related like a camera. Nintendo has gone from one of the greatest game developers in the world to a maid milking a cow dry.

Hm, true Nintendo is kind of being weak releasing a bunch of new handhelds...that aren't new, but different models of the DS. :wacky:

And I think it is even worse than that, I think there is four DS models: The original DS model, DS Lite, DSi, then there's that XL thing (DSi XL?), it is becoming a bit much, I do hope this is an all new handheld system with it's own new and improved games on it.

Get with the time Nintendo, I want some handheld games with half decent graphics, PSP like graphics would be a very, very nice improvement, I mostly play PSP games because the little bitty graphics of NDS get annoying, I know they focus a great deal on fun factor, but start making the Nintendo on-the-go video gaming experience visually a lot more appealing. :hmmm:

I have to admit that ds owns psp all the way, dont screw with me now cuz its just my opinion. The psp games that I have, they suck,I have star wars and fighting games that are not worth it,fighting games suck on psp, star wars just gets boring when you beat it.Even pokemon on ds could get you addicted as I was and maybe in the future, imo pokemon are the best games on ds lol.

Don't expect a 3D NDS :8F:

"Ever wondered why Nintendo revealed its new console, the 3DS, a week before April 1st? Well it turns out it wasn't just a coincidence. In a press release issued this morning, 8am (UTC+9:00), Nintendo officially announced that the 3DS was an April Fool's prank"

"We have no intentions of jumping into the market of 3D gaming. In fact, we have no plans to release another handheld video game console for another couple of years. The Nintendo DS has sold over 125 million units worldwide as of 2010. We apologize to our fans [...]", said Reggie Fils-Aime, current President and CEO of Nintendo of America."

I knew it wasnt gonna happen,
holographic technology still needs a big breakthrough

:awesome:

It's just another way for Nintendo to screw you out of your money, ten million different versions of what is pretty much the same handheld being tweaked over and over again costing more and more each time. I couldn't care less personally, Sony are set to introduce 3D gaming in future firmware updates for the PS3 so I'd rather stick with that rather than wasting £150-£200 on something that's probably going to be overhyped.

The 3DS is apparently going to be similar in power to the Gamecube, so I reckon it's more of a proper sucessor to the DS rather than just a new version of the old DS.
