Anyone been to see the new Star Trek movie yet? I went to see it on the 7th and it absolutely blew me away. From the opening scene to the end, it had me on the edge of my seat. The storyline was great, the special effects were out of this world, and the new cast really aced their parts as the crew from the original series. I'm going to go watch it again tonight, and probably one or 2 more times after that (my girlfriend is a huge trekkie)

I just saw it...I feel the same way...the one thing i really liked is how they left the future open to do any damn thing they feel like.

I haven't seen it yet, but we were talking about going to go see it once our exams are over. I have never seen anything Star Trek related in my life before, which I'm hoping is a good thing, as I won't be comparing the movie to the old series or anything.

Although, that makes a few people, like me, worried that they won't understand what's going on or be able to understand any of it.

The previews look amazing though, so I'm just going to go see it because as a Sci-Fi, and not a Star Trek, movie it looks awesome.

Well if you were a fan of the original series, there's a lot of references in the new movie that would probably excite you. I watched it for the second time last night and my girlfriend and I had fun spotting them.

It's a bit like watching LOTR without having read the books I suppose. There's a lot of stuff for the hardcore fan to enjoy, but it's still one of the best sci-fi flicks ever even if you are a Star Trek virgin. :)

I watched it a couple of hours ago. I enjoyed it, I'd only seen at most 10 episodes of the TV programme, though it was nice that there was a diLithium crystals reference.
I thought Simon Pegg was very good, but he normally is. Whilst I liked it, I didn't think it anything special. A good sci-fi/action movie, but nothing more.
Also I never like it when a character is put into a movie to explain the plot.

I've only seen a few episodes of the original series, but I enjoyed the movie. The strange thing about it for me though, was that it seemed to tick all the boxes, but it just didn't leave a real impact on me. The storyline was pretty good, as was the acting and the visual effects were magnificent. But after leaving the cinema, I thought the movie was missing something and to be honest I couldn't quite put my finger on what it was missing.
