Tetsuya Nomura has been busy tweeting in the wee hours of the night about The 3rd Birthday. After reminding readers of how the game switched from mobile phones to PSP, Nomura discussed the possibility of a console version.

“In the case of a sequel can be made the next one will be a HD version.”

Earlier in the Twitter feed, director Hajime Tabata, discussed the relationship with Hexadrive the company who is co-developing the game with Square Enix. Hexadrive also handled Rez HD. Anyway, they had a multiplatform engine ready and wanted to make a HD console game. At first the studio weren’t interested in making a PSP title, but changed their minds after Tabata convinced them.

Nomura also addressed questions about a hardware bundle on Twitter. “I think there are no plans related to a bundle,” Nomura wrote. Nomura also said a playable demo of The 3rd Birthday is under consideration.

The same goes for downloadable Game Archives versions of Parasite Eve 1 and Parasite Eve 2. “In relation to PE 1, 2 for Game Archives, we’re looking into it, please wait a bit longer. In relation to connections with past titles, the timeline is the same, the setting is carried over, the story starting with this title has the feeling of being new,” said Nomura.

So does this hint that the next one will be on ps3/xbox 360? Also what do they mean by game archives of PE I and II?

Basically a PSN release. SE's been doing this lately with their old PSone games, such as FFVII-IX. They're making the first 2 PE games available now for everyone - which is a good idea considering Europe has never had the first one I don't think.

That is weird. I thought about Parasite eve I and II being on psn yesterday and now it seems it came through :hmmm: Thanks Olivia <3

Xbox 360 has good graphics also Ryan but ill admit this series sequel is Better suited for the Playstation 3. I wonder how the shower scenes will look :tehe:

I'm not saying the 360 doesn't have better graphics, but when it comes to exclusives, graphically the PS3 wins hands down. :wacky:

Actually I do agree with Ryan that it would be fitting and appropriate to make a sequel on the PS3 only. You would have the first two Parasite Eves on PSone and PSN, then 3rd Birthday for the PSP, then a fourth title on the PS3 only. Adding the 360 there just looks out-of-place to me. It started a Playstation franchise, keep it for the Playstations only. :wacky:

But wouldn't a multi-platform sequel bring in more money?

Wii aside, as I am sure they aren't considering it, putting the sequel on more than one platform seems like it would be a better idea. That way, fans that may want it handheld, or just need the convenience may be compensated. Also, the sales for the game would probably double in the very least. Graphics wise, as we saw with FFXIII, the game's visual quality wouldn't be dropped so significantly as to make the game a PS3 only release.

A multiplatform game would indeed double (though Square-Enix haven't had any success really with other 360 titles) but the only way to stop a graphical difference would be to have two different teams working on each version, that way the PS3 won't get some shoddy looking port and the 360 won't look significantly worse like FFXIII did...but I'm sure SE are too lazy to have two teams.
