Hi All

We're very sorry to bother you with this anoying school thing. We don't like it ourselves, but we have to do this anyways..

UHms.. So if you would be kind enough to just click one option..
:tighthug:THANQ!:mark:

But if you really really really don't want to:eek:uttahere:.. that's okay..
Thanx anyways! ^^

Not really,of course good graphics are more impressive and help the game sell(Some times) but in most situations is the story itself that matters and gameplay of course.
If we had an FF game with realistics graphics but it had a crappy story and it was boring only a few would play it.

I've chosen it Depends. Mainly because the graphics do need to maintain a level of decency, but they do not need to be top notch. All that's really needed from graphics decent enough eye pleasing colours etc, and having overall relevance to the game/area/character (to make sure the character looks right etc).

I don't think that graphics make the game more fun but surely they make it more cooler.Imagine the batte of Angeal,Genesis and Sephiroth with SNES graphics. It would be awful.

You should at least repeat the question in the first post >.>

And absolutely not, fantasy games don't need decent graphics whatsoever, it's nice when they do, but not hugely necessary because quality graphics or not it's "fantasy" hence, it's not going to look more realistic either way.

Graphics only make games more realistic if the game is realistic to start with. Final Fantasy is not. :gmonster:

I used to absolutely hate games with horrible graphics. In fact, I refused to play a game if it did. But then I got into Final Fantasy, and I started paying more attention to the storyline and the characters. I still like top-notch graphics like in FFXII, but I don't think they're the most important thing. If the storyline of a game is good, I'm bound to enjoy playing it whether the graphics are realistic or not.

Like most people, I feel it depends. I mean, the classic example is VII with they're Linkin' Lego people. But it's still arguably the best of the new FF generation. Then look at XII, arguably best graphics thus far, arguably worst FF thus far.

Then again, the graphics of VIII for some reason really took me out of it. They just looked so odd to me...and their faces were all squished up there...

And then, yet again, I had so much with the older 2D Final Fantasies, that graphics never really made a difference to me.

I voted depends because yes the graphics make it a better game, but without a good storyline and characters, it wouldn't be a good game. It essentially has to have all 3 of theres attributes to be a good game.

Everyone's entitled to their own opinion on how they decide what they think is vital in a game. In my case it depends.

I never used to care about graphics at all when I was younger because none of them had ever been as good as Final Fantasy, which I was yet to be introduced to.

What drew me into Final Fantasy was the sweet as graphics and therefore got me addicted not only to that itself but also the awesome storylines. It was from then on that I got a little more picky with my games and would look not only at the object of the game but also the graphics, which also had to satisfy me if I was going to have any fun with it.

If it had just been the awesome graphics and ridiculously going-nowhere storyline I definitely would not have continued with any game in that catergory obviously. However it did make me think more carefully about choosing games.

Considering I rarely play games anymore in my hectic life I really want to pick a decent one that will entertain me for a while in both ways.

So yes it really does depend on whether it makes the game more fun in my opinion. >_<

I chose "Hell no". I have always said "Good graphics do not a good game make." and I believe in this whole heartedly. A lot of my favorite games happen to be sprite based games, old FF's, old PC games ect. I can go back and play these games over and over again and they are still just as entertaining as they were the first time I played them, because they are good games. Fancy graphics are nice... but if there isn't story and effort put into the game itself, then the game fails in my eyes.

i chose depends, because...well...
it depends on the game i suppose
I mean, for war games such as Call of Duty, I would prefer more of the realism look
then something like Halo where it is fiction, but if it looks realistic, it throws off the perception to make it seem like an exciting adventure through something that could never happen in reality in our life time.

But for a game like Final Fantasy, yes it'd be nice for AWESOME graphics, but people, seriously, get off the band wagon! Games are about story! Not visual eye candy for fucks sake! Excuse my German.
A game with a compelling story is far better then that of high graphical quality!
Remember the days of SNES and N64?
Those were the days when gameplay was complete with a story to pull you in.
Now a days, it's "LET'S MAKE SHIT SHINE! BAD ASS EXPLOSIONS! MOAR LENS FLARE! YOUR OWN CHARACTER'S SHADOW! REFLECTION IN THE WATER! WIND BLOWING THE TREES!"
Yeah all nice, and a waste of money, but hey, where's my god damn story that I paid $60 for? I want something to move me emotionally in a game like FF7 FF8 FF10 FF12, hell even Pokemon! Call of Duty makes me feel like a hero!
Halo....I feel nothing but the satisfaction of blowing up some little 10 year old boy who ends up crying after the match.

There's my story.

Questions?

It all depends really, if the graphics are so bad you can't really play the game - like, the graphics would confuse you, then yes graphics are important.

However, for the most part, a superior storyline makes up for inferior graphics, personally, I can play any game, regardless of the graphics, if the storyline is good. =]

I think it depends, the type of game is one thing. Typically with driving games and sports games I would choose the ones with the best graphics. With RPG's I can go as low as sprite graphics. With Action Adventure games I can go back to PS1 era graphics. First Person Shooters are a shady area, I generally prefer FPS's with good graphics, but sometimes I find a FPS game with shit graphics but very good gameplay and generally good gameplay > graphics.

I see graphics as a way to compliment a great storyline and good gameplay. Without these two things, games with top knotch graphics fail.

Depends.

There are so many other factors to consider before a game can be classified under 'Good'. For instance, the storyline, and battle system.

Even if the characters appear in terrible quality, or don't even look human (Though they are supposed to be), the players probably won't mind it as much as they probably would if the storyline and battle system sucked.

So, my stand here is realistic quality is not exactly important in comparison to other factors like those i mentioned... (To me at least)

Flat no for me, I think the more realistic looking games get, the less fun they are. I have RL to live in, I dont need it in myk games kthnx. Good graphics arenice, but I dont think realistic graphics can make a game more fun, Id be inclined to think the opposite, to srs.

Graphics don't matter that much to me, although I thought FF1 for NES was rather bland graphically, probably because it's an NES game. The gameplay is the important aspect.

I chose 'depends'.

My reason might sound a little stupid but I will try and explain clearly.

The only reason why I didn't choose 'hell no' is because above anything I am the original graphics whore. I'm sorry but the more amazing the graphics the more I will be sucked into playing a game. It doesn't mean that the game will therefore, automatically be awesome. But if I was in store holding two rpg games in my hand, 9 times out of 10 I will go with the one with the kick-butt graphics.

The reason why I didn't choose 'heck yes' is because despite the fact it might be sex for my eyes if the story is crap, I will eventually lose interest. It doesn't need to be an epic or anything, but if I feel no connection to the plot then I will turn the game off.

I think the best example for me comes with Final Fantasy 8 and 9. I loved the realistic graphics of 8 and was unbelievably excited waiting for 9. However, when I got 9 I felt like I couldn't take it as seriously. I complained the whole time about the fact they looked like cartoon morons.

I think a successful game needs a combination of both in my humble opinion. Final Fantasy VII may very well have the most engaging storyline of all the series. But the graphics were so bad that it actually distracted me from the story. The whole time I played I was like, 'ok a green arrow...exit...wth why can't I exit'. I may as well have been playing with lego. It got to the point where I lost the will to play it any further, which was a real shame because so many people love the game.

I think the more realistic graphics make the game stand out less and have less appeal, the final fantasy games always pushed their hardware and stood out amongst everything else on the system and they never looked life like, but just looked very very pretty...but the more realistic the graphics are, the more charm and fantasy that is lost. I really think FFXIV should be done like the new prince of persia game, it needs to keep its fantasy feel to be a final fantasy game IMO

NO!
Graphics do not make the game. Game design and Game play make the game.

Graphics are the sugar coating. Sometimes that sugar coating is to cover up the crap that the game is.

Proof Game Design and Game Play is the important part of a game.
Tetris. Addicting, Fun, and one of the most played games in the world. Graphics couldn't be more simple unless it was Pong.
