Yeah, post your opinions about the games of the Onimusha series.

Onimusha Warlords
Onmusha "Samurai's Destiny"
Onimusha "Demon Siege"
Onimusha "Dawn of Dreams"

We will start with Onimusha Warlords.
What do you think about this game?

I'm a very big Onimusha fan, it ranks as one of my favourite game franchises.

I'll summarize each title:

Onimusha: Warlords - First PS2 game to reach the 1million sales mark, and rightly so. Sure, the Resi-Evil style controls can be awkward at times, but it doesn't take away at all from a great (if a little short) game, with fantastic ambience and feel.

Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny - *THE* best Onimusha title, in my opinion. An improved combat system, great designs by Keita Amemiya, fantastic musical score, sublime pre-rendered backgrops, and the various scenario routes allow for great replayability. You can simply tell that a lot of work went into this game.

Onimusha 3: Demon Siege - The opening CGI movie is easily one of the best I have ever witnessed in a video game. I'm not sure about the fully-rendered environments, I actually prefer the pre-rendered ones in the previous Onimusha games. The use of the analogue sticks for control was a welcomed innovation, whilst retaining the old controls on the D-pad for conservative players. But I felt the storyline was contrived, and the time-travelling aspect nonsensical just as a plot device for Jean Reno's role. The lack of the aforementioned's English voice also rips the heart out of his character.

Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams - The worst of the four games, and I hope this is not the direction Capcon want to take the series in the future (if they decide to make more Onimusha titles, that is). Poorly written story, weak characters, and plenty of filler material to prolong the true length of the game, e.g. the abundance of weapons, the exasperating 100 levels of the Dark Realm. You can also see how they've tried to add elements of DMC into the game, yet if anything they are too obvious and disrupt Onimusha's own identity.

Can't compare Dawn of Dreams to the other Onimusha games. Because I haven't played or seen the other games.
Nevertheless I can say that its a great game.
The story has quite an impact to me.

I always liked dual wielding so its a plus to me.
I liked Jubei Yagyu's style. She has an etremely high agility and her weapons were cool.

i've played Dawn of Dreams too and it was good enough for me.
i rnjoyed playing it,but i firgot the names of the characters.

I really enjoyed the final battle Onimusha "Dawn of Dreams" when you face again a long lost enemy....
Fortimbras
And I was surprised to know that Tenkai was in fact good O'l
Samanosuke

I don't think the end battle was very entertaining at all. Heck, the whole final moments were disappointing. They play the 'aah it's finally over' card three times to try and add an element of surprise...which failed. And it felt like DBZ, the way Soki now becomes a 'Super Onimusha-like' figure.

You were surprised that Tenkai is
Samanosuke
!? How could you not figure it out? His theme music is a remix of
Samanosuke's in Onimusha 3.
He wears an
Oni gauntlet
, works alongside Arin
(who obviously is Ako)
, he pays his respects to Mitsuhide
(his uncle)
, and even makes a reference to
Kaede
.

I had my suspicions at the beginning when I first fought him but I didn't wanted to believe that Samanosuke was wielding a spear instead of sword. I hate spears, he was cooler when he was wielding his Genma Sanmonji (
Nobunaga's Sword
) or any of the other Oni swords.
Also the fact that he was wearing the Oni Guantlet proves nothing. If I remember well Samanosuke is not the first one that obtained the Oni Guantlet. I knew who he was when he spoke about Kaede.

Samanosuke was the only character openly revealed to wield the Oni Gauntlet.

well,i've stuck in Onimusha:Down of Dreams at the first disc and have forgotten to try to play it again, though it seems really interesting.

I'm a fan of demon/zombie-slaying video games, and Onimusha is no exception. I'm so glad my friends suggested I get this game. I enjoyed the first game, since to me, it was such a break from the tiresome button mashing of Devil May Cry. To me, it worked so well with the samurai theme, and the fighting system greatly reflected that (e.g. you're not rushing recklessly at enemies, and you can block and counter with skill). The second installment was indeed a wonderful improvement of the fighting system, but I wish they stayed with Samonousuke's arc instead of leaning to Jubei.

Onimusha 3 disappointed me. I was so hyped up for this game, especially after seeing that Jean Reno lended over his likeness for a major character. The only things I really liked from it was the introduction, slight improvements including using ranged weapons, and use of the analog. This game, in my opinion, could have been a hell of a lot better.
