Overseer (Pharosl)

Does anyone have any special tricks on how to defeat the Overseer in the "unknown" level of the Pharos? I get through his first three summonings all right, but then he summons the large bird and it sucks all of my magic out so fast I can't survive. My party is levels 75, 74 and 74 (with reserves all at 30) and the best equip. I set haste and protect before going in. Any other tips would be appreciated!!! Thank you!

I know this isn't good advice, but it's how I beat him. When I fought him I was leveled somewhere in the 60s probably. I had no idea what to expect so I just got a few strategies off the top of my head. Set all your gambits to the monster he summons, not him. Make sure to cast magics or use telekinesis on Pheonix. It helps if you practice on the other Pheonix in a different part of the pharos, assuming you haven't beat him yet. I usually just go in and try to kill them without strategies and stuff, unless they are really hard, like Zodiark.

I dunno. I already killed the other Phoenix. What you're describing sounds pretty much like what I did. It's the way he sux my magic out that gets me. I will just have to keep tweaking hte gambits I suppose.
