So, I've been dabbling a bit in making music and have three pieces I'm happy-ish to share. By no means am I a pro, but I do put a lot of effort into making these. I use a Macbook Pro with Logic Pro X and, when I can, I much prefer to record instruments in live, but due to limited resources I've had to make use of programming in midi drums, synths and samples.
Anyway, without further ado...

Right, this is the most recent piece. Me and my mate Elfed recorded this shortly before christmas. Listening back on it now, I think I did a really shite job mastering it. Only problem is the Macbook I had the arrangement saved on packed in and I couldn't recover it!
In any case, here's a preview of the kinda sound I was aiming for before I lost it: https://soundcloud.com/seekinfinity/pad-elfed-long-dusty-road-preview
The main influence with that top piece was Akira Yamaoka's work from the Silent Hill games. I thought we managed to get a pretty laid back, road-trip sort of vibe with it.

This was another piece I recorded with Elfed. Like the above track, the guitars and bass were recorded live. Drums, I programmed in with Ultrabeat on Logic, except for the Taiko drums that were played during the guitar solo. That was a sample I found that I thought was pretty neat. Mostly though, this piece was a throwback to a recording we did back in college last year. I wanted to see how much my music production skills had improved since making the original piece and I reckon there's a huge improvement with this one. For the sake of comparison, here's the original piece: https://soundcloud.com/seekinfinity/aseiniad-coleg-paddy-elfed-jamie-v2-luke-vox The vocal track was really weird and random and mostly done for shits and giggles. We had to include a vocal track for the sake of the college assignment, so that's what we did.
Lastly, this was an attempt at something completely different. Leaning more towards drum n bass, I done all the instruments by myself. Bass was recorded live, drums were programmed in with Ultrabeat and the synths were played in with my keyboard. Used a lot of compressors to get a really punchy sound, as well as a bit-crusher effect on the snare drums and vocals.

The vocals were made available by some chap called Nate Monoxide. It was a friggin' awesome accapella, to be fair. All I needed to do was chop some of it up and rearrange it to better fit the instrumental tracks.
So that's it for now. I'm working on a few other tracks of my own, and I've got a couple of collaborations with Elfed and some other mates in the works but it's slow going with those at the moment because we're finding it difficult to make the time to meet up. Some feedback is always welcome, and I'd really appreciate you guys sharing these pieces because making music that no one listens to is really depressing.
Peace
