Question On Chocobos

I guess you get the blue on from a chocograph. But as for the others, I'm stumped. This is my first time actually taking the time to go for the chocobos, so I dont know how to get them, or what they do...
 
well i think in every FF series chocobo's has different ways to hanldle:D, i only tried in ff8 and ff9. in ff8 you'll just have to grab a chocobo in every forest through a whistle,, while in ff9 you only have 1 chocobo, in every forest you have to rent to a moogle to use it inside that forest and dig up treasures to level up your choco beaks:D,, i find ff9 chocobo more interesting than ff8:D enjoy
 
If you have a Red Chocobo, the Chocobo can not fly. Once you obtain the Gold Chocobo, teh Gold one can take off for flying when he is walking in a forested area. He can then fly to any part of the map almost, where chocobo's of lesser color are subject to the ground, mountains and rivers only; not the air.
 
I forgot which order you get them in.
I think it's Blue, Red, Gold.

Your chocobo upgrades to a new color when you discover a certain number of chocographs and visit different gardens. =]
 
haha. FF VII is the only game i got a gold chocobo on. I havent tried on FF VIII, i think i will try to get a gold one on FF IX later, although i expect it too take awhile.
 
me too,, i failed to get a gold chocobo in ff8,, its just not that adventurous as ff9 and ff7:D maybe ff8 chocobo is something to replay or should i say a must.. hehehehehehe
 
I got the blue chocobo in 9 but i just couldnt find enough chocographs for a red :(
 
Ah, the Chocobos of Final Fantasy IX. That really brings back memories. Well, I think the order of the chocobos are as follows:

Yellow, Blue, Red, Gold.

All you have to do is find chocographs in the Chocobo hot & Cold and then dig the treasures up. It takes a LONG time, but if you have the patience, you'll get it.
 
dead peppers,, i think i used those in some part of the ocean that has some bubbles,, i only remembered one place of where i used it,, i believed it was on quan's placed, when you go to the balcony of the cave where you could see the ocean,

when you see some mysterious bubbles in some part of the ocean, used dead peppers,.. i hope my memory serves me well about this.
 
FFIX had the best chocobo system out of all the FFs. ^_^

And what is everyone saying about FFVIII having a gold chocobo?
You have to buy some stupid pocket station thing just to go on chocobo sidequests. There is no gold chocobo...

Yes. I was going to post that if everyone else neglected to. ^_^
As for the chocobos abilities to its color as follows:
Yellow: Traverse any ground besides mountains
Light Blue: also can traverse shallow water
Red: Can cross mountains
Dark Blue: can now venture into deeper waters
Gold: can fly and go to the chocobo palace

I'm playing IX over again and am going for the gold one again. I just can't remember where that stupid ocean chocograph location is.
 
i cant remember where that one is, but thats the one that i had the most trouble with...stupid ocean. there are so many beaches.
 
Ah, Chocobo Hot & Cold. Interesting, yet annoying game. I hate how finding a Chocograph/Chocograph piece was purely by chance. I never expected obtaining the upgraded Choco's to be any different than getting 'River Choco.' That Gold Choco has a lot to answer for, dragging me all over the world just so I could fight a great big sphere...
