How on earth do you get big quickening chains? I get like 5 or 6, it's annoying. Does it depend on your MP, like if your level 25 and only have 90 MP does that restrict the amount of times that character can use one?

any tips would be much appreciated ^_^

my best advice is to be ready for it...have your finger on the buttons and when you see an option to do something hit it as quick as you can and try to remember how many charges each char has left and if you see a refill for a char with none take it and then try to get another one...one time i manged to add another 3 quickenings in the last second because I was ready and just button mashed to get them off...and don't feel to bad the best I have done is like 10.

At the beginning, just choose whatever happens to be available and only shuffle if necessary. The more time you use up while the meter is slower, the less time you'll have in the subsequent rounds when it's speeding up. Whatever time you don't use is carried to the next round, plus you get half the time it took you to choose a move during that round.

So like, you get like five seconds per round. If it takes you four seconds to make a move, you'll get one second added to the next round, plus half of four which is two. So, you'll have a total of three seconds to make a move in the next round.

After a certain point, though, it's better just to keep your MP. Unless, like, you just watch Fran's over and over again with your hand in your pants...

if i remember correctly even if you do a mist charge and then dont use it you dont get the mp...it is just the charges you get the only way to keepmp after a quickening is to not use a char

Ohh, my friend also has this problem. The most he can do is 6.

Anyways, the best thing to do is get 3 Quickenings for your characters. Or at least 2. This is because the more Quickenings which are open for you to do, the higher the chance of Quickenings appearing on the options. The rest is up to luck and hoping that you don't need to shuffle too often. Levels and MP has no effect on Quickening Chains I believe.

Oh, a technique I used early in the game when I had no idea what the shuffle button was used for: Get you index and middle fingers of your left hand onto the X and [] buttons. Right thumb on /\ and index on R2. During the 1st Quickening, hold down R2 and mash X, [] and /\ constantly and pray you hit a Quickening. Surprisingly, I got an 8-Hit against Garuda at Raithwall's Tomb.

Now with enough luck I can easily do 12-13 Hits, the most 18 Hits.

learn

I'd look up a map of the LB and learn everyones quickenings first. Then when you start off watch which characters show up and press either Trangle X or circle. its random for all I know but if your fast enough you'll get some good ones before you have to suffle.

Worse way of using limits ever in a FF
This does not help out the topic starter at all. He's not asking your opinion on whether you liked the method or not, he's asking how to improve the number of chains during Quickenings.

Posts like the one above are spammy, off-topic, and contribute nothing to the discussion at-hand.

Honestly, I had a hard time getting a long quickening until you unlock all three mist charges for the three characters currently in battle. After that, I generally get around 15 or more, and my most was 26. It does take some time and a lot of Liscense points, but you will eventually get there.

Like other people have mentioned, just be ready to hit whatever button is shown.

Also, it seemed to help to always choose to recharge, when that is an option, over dealing another attack with an already charged person (that way, you dont miss a chance to charge a character and deal an attack).

And to answer your question, you only get so much time period . . . it has nothing to do with your characters level. I believe it is 2 seconds total, plus like .15 seconds, or something like that, for every turn. Basically what I mean is that you start each turn, and you begin using your ".15" or whatever it is, and once that is used up, it starts draining time from you 2 seconds. Once that 2 seconds is up, its over. So, if you can consistantly pound in a command within that first ".15" (again, im not positive what it is) you can ideally keep a chain going for a long time (until everyones's MP is drained and you have to worry about recharging).

Hope this helps! (By the way, im almost done with the game, and although the story line wasnt the best, i though that gameplay was amazing . . . it is hard to put down)
