Rest in Peace, Ronnie James Dio

Another victim to cancer =/

He made it to a fairly decent age and you know hes made something of his lfe. Sad to see hes gone though.

Sad to hear. :sad3: In his honor:

Here's hoping he's soaring on the wings of demons for the rest eternity.

He's dead!!!? No fucking way! Ah, dude... I think I'm literally going to cry. He was one of my favorite singers. *sigh* Why are all the amazing musicians dying? Man, seriously. Thanks for messing up my day Stang...Joking. All though I really shouldn't be. I'm monumentally depressed now.

RIP Ronnie James Dio.

Dio was my favourite singer of all time. Noone can match his voice and I doubt anyone will ever be able to. Heavy metal has lost one of it's TRUE greats and pioneers today. It is sad to see an idol and inspiration, who still wanted to do so much and still had so much to live for, pass away. I take consolation in the fact that he at least got to say his goodbyes to his friends and family and that he passed away peacefully.

Rest in peace Ronnie. You died much too young.

I heard about this today. =/ Really a shame, it's like the bad things happen to all the ones that are actually passionate about their music rather then money.

As the comment above said, rock in peace.

My friend met him a few years ago when he came to Australia with Heaven & Hell. Dio taught him how to properly do the devil horns.

RIP.

Kudos for this thread. If I had came on here and failed to see one already made I would have made one myself.

Ronnie James Dio had a huge influence on my music taste, and his stuff with Sabbath was the first lot I got into. I've been meaning to see him live, and nearly did a couple of times, but never managed too in the end. Dark times but he certainly did give it a damn good run, the fella was getting on abit yet he carried on like the legend he is. As soon as I got home today I started on my Dio music marathon. Started with his stuff in Rainbow, then Black Sabbath, the small amount of solo stuff I actually like such as Holy Diver, collaborations such as the cover of Aerosmith's 'Dream On' with Malmsteen, and not forgetting the HEAR 'N' AID song 'We're Stars'. Finishing it off later with playing through The Devil You Know played LOUD.

Cool to note that the last song off the last album he ever recorded, Heaven & Hell's 'The Devil You Know', is called 'Breaking into Heaven'.

The list of influential people passing just continues to grow.

RJD is a 3 degrees of separation story for me. The father of the bass player of the band I was in in high school and part of college played in some side projects with Dio in the mid 70's (I believe it was during a brief transitional period between Elf and Rainbow). He was raised in Cortland, NY which is about 90 min orth of where I grew up.
