RPB Tournament 2011
This is where the best are chosen and where the weak shall perish. Many fighters have been devastated by the powerful warriors that come to this established event. Last year a winner was not decided but this year, it will be different. Challenger after challenger will fall until the ultimate warrior has been chosen. Will you win this battle? Or fall like the many others before you?
Is this your chance to shine?
Or will it be the cause of your untimely death?
This is where you shall find out.

RULES:
NO GOD-MODDING - This will be STRICTLY enforced, without exceptions. This is a tournament, the big-time, so there will be relentless judging of in-battle skills.
For those who do not know, God-Moddding involves controlling your opponent's character or a character under their control without first gaining their permission, as well as predetermining the actions of other characters.
NO POWER PLAYING - Like God-Modding, this will be STRICTLY enforced, no exceptions. Power Playing is having abilities that are beyond what you state in your bio, or abilities that are over-powered, insofar as they give you an unfair advantage against your opponent. An example of this would be having only half of your energy drained when it should have been three quarters.
ACCEPT DEFEAT OR VICTORY GRACEFULLY - Losing is not decided in the actual match, it is decided by the judges after they have each scored the players out of 10. This means don’t be a sore loser. If you lose don’t grumble about it or complain that the judges were wrong. The judges' decisions are final and that is that. If you win, then great and you’re in the next round. If you lose then you fought valiantly but better luck next time. Losing is not decided in the actual match, it is decided by the judges after they have each scored the players in the relevant categories. In other words, you may win the fight and still lose the match.
CHARACTER ALLOWANCE - The only characters allowed in this Tournament are those approved by an RP Mod for use in an RPB. You are welcome to make new bios, but THEY MUST BE APPROVED BEFORE THEY CAN BE USED HERE. If you have an unapproved bio that you want to be approved for the tournament, post it in the Bio Review Waiting List, and mention that it is for the RPBT specifically. Your bio will then be moved to the front of the queue.
Those are the rules at the moment. The list is subject to updates by the Staff of Final Fantasy Forums.
PRIZES
vB points
1st place: 600
2nd place: 400
3rd place: 200
JUDGING GUIDELINES
Players will be judged on:
Originality
Creativity
Interaction with Environment
Yieldability*
Readability/Grammar**
Power-playing/God-modding***
* - Yieldability is based on how often you take hits when there are few other options. When you're cornered against a wall, and you miraculously jump up high to dodge the attack, this will lose you points. Anything that relates to not taking a hit when you should will be graded here.
** - Yes, how well you write will be graded. Your post means nothing if we can't understand it, so make sure that you write with the best grammar you have. A typo here and there won't kill you, but consistently poor grammar and/or spelling will be detrimental to your score.
*** - Judging for this section is based on how frequently you God-Mod or Power Play. A high score means that you fought with little to no God-Modding or Power Playing, while a low score means you frequently broke these rules.
JUDGES
All battles will be judged by Terrible Terry Tate, except those battles in which he participates, which will be scored by a neutral user.
BATTLE ASSIGNMENTS
Seeding will be prioritized based on last year's RPBT results. Meaning if you were 2nd place last year and enter this year, you will be the second seed this year. If you were 4th place last year, and 3rd place does not enter this year, you will be bumped up to the third seed. The remaining participants will have their name written onto a piece of paper, placed into a hat, and randomly drawn. They will be recorded in order of drawing, then given a seed based on that order. The highest seed will face the lowest seed, the second seed will face the second-lowest seed, so on and so forth. If there are an odd number of participants, the brackets will be extended in order to make it work.
ARENAS
With your RPB bio, you will be asked to submit a terrain or setting in which your character would be most comfortable fighting. Whether it be a post-apocalyptic cityscape, or a serene glade in a lush forest, your character will seek to have a 'homefield advantage'. This will be determined by seed. Battles will be fought at the higher seeds "home" location. The championship battle will be fought at a neutral location.
You can make the description of your home location as detailed as you like, but a minimum of six lines will be mandatory.
START DATE
Sign-ups will close at 11:59 PM EST on Thursday, June 2nd. The Tournament will begin within 24 hours of that point
