Many tragedies struck the world of Gaia and the people around it. While Zidane and his friends fought to save the world from Kuja, Garland and ultimately Necron, another story unfolds in the background. The story of a Burmecian who remembers only his name and homeland and those who help him along the way.

Zorn and Thorn are continuing to plaster chaos across Gaia while the Queen in her madness continues her war on the nations. They seek to awaken an ancient, sealed away power that is said to rival that of the Eidolons themselves.

Caught within the tides of war, this Burmecian and his companions must find a way to stop this war before more suffer, but none of them could imagine what awaits them on this perilous journey.

********************************************

This rp is the story of Fratley, who lost his memories and was found washed up in Alexandria before the destruction of Burmecia and Cleyra. It is intended to also tell about the misadventures of the evil clown pair and how Necron was freed from his prison. It is intended to flow alongside the storyline of FF9, including Fratley and Freya's bittersweet reunion. Also, a new, original villain will make his appearance and have his own role in this little saga.
********************************************

Rules:
1.> No Godmoding
2.> Obey all FFF rules and regulations
3.> Keep things PG-13. Romances are allowed, but nothing beyond kissing & cuddling. Also, no overly-descriptive gore.
4.> No bunnying without permission
5.> Stay active. No one likes to have an RP die because everyone has to wait on someone who hasn't posted for weeks. Try to post at least 3x a week
6.> Since this is a side story, you will be unable to play as a cannon character with a few exceptions.
7.> Combat is rp based. Boss characters cannot be beaten in a few, short posts. The only time someone can complete a boss fight in a single post is if the fight is strictly 1v1 (Everyone will have one of these kinds of fights).
8.> Rules will be added as needed
*****************************************************
Races:

Humans: Humans are among the most numerous in the known world. The have advanced technology and continues to be a dominant world force. However, only a select few have any tendency for magics, and those that do usually have a limited selection of spells

Black Mages: Created as living weapons for Alexandria and Queen Brahne, these manifestations of mist and mana are devistating magical powerhouses. However, not only are they frail, but they were constructed to only be able to live for a single year. Some have been able to 'awaken' and gain a sort of soul and personality.

Burmecians/Cleyrans: A rat-like humanoid race, these people live in harmony with the land. They are known around the world for their dances and the legendary Dragon Knights, an order of powerful warriors tasked with slaying problem dragons as well as protecting their kingdom. While many can hold various other classes, only Dragon Knights have access to powerful dragon magics.

Dwarves: A humanoid race of short, stocky stature with a famous greeting of 'Rally-ho!'. While many live on the outer continent, some more adventurous dwarves have traveled to many different regions of the world. They are famous for their blacksmithing skills and are mini-powerhouses in battle as warriors.

Genome: Creations from the world of Terra, only two known Genomes are known to exist upon Gaia: Zidane and Kuja. However, a small handful were caught within the passage between the two worlds, whether by chance or misfortune and ended up upon Gaia. They have since started to develop personalities of their own. These beings are highly nimble and adaptable.

Moogles: Small, bat-winged feline humanoids. They are rather small in stature and sport bat-wings and a pom-pom which hangs from their foreheads by an antennae. They have an affinity for magic and tinkering, and they are quite nimble.

Qu: A genderless rare species has a sort of training about discovering and eating new foods called the "Way of the Gourmand". This odd-looking species is harmless and permanently let their long tongues hang from their mouths and often dress like chefs. They have the ability to digest most living (and sometimes unliving) creatures and absorb that creature's abilities, called 'blue magic'. As almost a rule of thumb, their names always start with 'Qu'.

Summoner: A race of horned humans with the power to call forth the Eidolons to aid in their cause. This race is near extinction, with a scare, scattered handful still alive in the world; Garnet and Eiko being two of them. They are also skilled in healing magics, but are not much for physical combat.

Classes:

Warrior: Physical combatant. Can deal great amounts of damage as well as soak just as much in. Very good physical defense and offense, moderate magical defense, limited magical offense (weapon skills), low to moderate speed. Available to any race except summoners, qus and black mages.

Rogue: Physical combatant: Very agile and often uses daggers, rapiers or other light bladed weapons, this class specializes in stealth, backstabbing and lightening the loads of their targets. They are the only class that can steal items from enemies and have access to skills that can detect an enemy's weaknesses, the goods they're carrying, or even attack by throwing items (even gil) at opponents. Some are even proficient in martial arts. Moderate physical offence & defense, moderate magical defense, limited magical offense, high speed. Available to any race except summoners, qus and black mages.

Black mages: Just like their race implies, this class is only available to Black Mages, although Moogles can also choose this considering their affinity for magic. They are capable of casting powerful, damaging spells as well as inflicting status effects through magics. However, they can only arm themselves with staves. Low physical offense and defense, high magical offense and defense, moderate speed.

Dragon Knights: These specializes warriors take to the skies with lances and spears. They have a unique ability called Jump, which allows them to vault to almost unnatural heights and then comes crashing down upon their prey, dealing double the amount of damage they could otherwise give. They also have access to dragon magics, which can range from robing an opponent of their magic energies to calling forth the powerful souls of the dragons they had slain to assault their foes. Only Burmecians/Cleyrans can be Dragon Knights. High physical attack, moderate physical defense, moderate magical defense, limited magical offense, high speed

Blue Mages: These spell casters can use the abilities of monsters they have devoured as their own. As one can imagine, only the Qu have access to this class. Once an opponent has been weakened, a blue mage can turn the enemy into pure energy and devour them, learning any ability that monster knew before it was slain. Moderate physical attack, low physical defense, high magical attack, moderate magical defense, low speed.

Summoners: As like the Black Mages, only the summoner race can be summoners. Summoners can gain the aid of Eidolons mostly by extracting their essences from precious stones. Each summoner is born with one special Eidolon as their personal guardian. Summoners also have access to curative, defensive and buffing magics. Low physical offense & defense, High Magical offense & defense, moderate speed.

White mages: This class specializes in healing, protection, buffing allies and debuffing enemies. They often arm themselves with crossbows, bows or other ranged weapons. This class can only be chosen by Moogles and Humans. moderate physical offense, low physical defense, moderate magical offense, high magical defense, high speed.

Sweet. I like a role play that plays out a side story in the actual storyline itself... And Final Fantasy IX happens to be one of my favorite Final Fantasies too. I'm definitely in. We'll have to create our own characters for this one right?

Yes, although Prince Puck can be played either as a character or controlled as an NPC. After all, in the game he did say he found Fratley on his own journey, so one way or another, Puck will be with the group. All races are playable, though if choosing to play a Black mage, it can't be one like Vivi, but perhaps an 'awakened' normal Black Mage.

This sounds interesting, and I have been meaning to get back into RPing again.

Go ahead and sign me up.

Alright, sign-ups are open! Post your profiles here, and once we have our party of five (or more), we can begin!

Name: Sir 'Iron Tail' Fratley
Age: 25
Race: Burmecian
Class: Dragon Knight
Appearance:
fratleyfull.jpg

Weapon: Lance of the Four Winds

Personality: Fratley has a heart of a hero and always seeks to make himself stronger. Despite his loss of memory, his is undyingly loyal to his comrades and has a strong sense of duty towards those of his own race. He is one who speaks his mind, and can be at times lacking in tact.He has the mind of a leader, but due to his memory loss, he can be confused by the rising of new, yet oddly familiar feelings.

Bio: From a young age, Fratley yearned to become a Dragon Knight. He heard all of the tales of heroics, the journies they made around the world. A life of excitement and adventure. Once he was old enough, he entered into the order to be trained.

It was there he met a fellow squire, a female named Freya. Being one of the only females in the group, she was hounded, teased and ragged on constantly by mentors and students alike. But Fratley saw the determination in her eyes and aided her, defending her against those who tried to break her spirit. Together they rose to become the two finest recruits of the order.

They were an inseparable pair and fought against many dragons. eventually, they were tasked to be the bodyguards of the newborn Prince Puck. But while Burmecia and Cleyra enjoyed peace and prosperity, Lindbum and especially Alexandria grew more powerful in their military might over the years. Fearing that he might not be strong enough to defend his people, Fratley set out for personal training, to scour the world for ways to become stronger. Freya insisted on following, but he told her that someone needed to remain behind to protect the royal family. He promised her, repeatedly, that he would return once he found what he was looking for.

Just had a question in regards to the classes, if you recall Beatrix was able to use Seiken (sword arts) and white magic, being a holy knight/paladin class, is anything like that available? :gasp: and in contrast would a Black Knight also be available? (like Steiner without a black mage needed)

And in regards to summoners, would they be horned like Eiko, or hornless like Garnet to avoid persecution by other humans etc? :gasp:

Also, what does the term 'bunnying' mean? I'm not familiar with it :wacky:

Also, i'll get my bio started now :mokken:

Summoners can be horned or remove their horn to blend in. And Bunnying is a term meaning taking control of other people's characters. Sometimes this can be done with permission if someone is going on vacation or something, or if the group as a whole is moving on, but that's basically what bunnying means: taking control of a character that does not belong to you.

As for the paladin/Dark paladin thing, I'd prefer to keep things simple, but if you really want to make one of those kinds of characters, so long as they aren't over-powered, I can allow for it.

Alright, just wanted to check on that, since Paladins at least existed in FF9 and all xD

My bio's almost done now, should have it up shortly :awesome:

And now it's done :mokken:

Name: Kirk
Age: 23
Class: Black Knight
Race: Human
Appearance:
Anime-Vampire.jpg

Weapon: Dark Sword

Dark Magic: Similar to Black Magic in properties, his magic however can only be performed when a black mage is present and uses their own powers and drains their magic, willingly or not to cast spells.

Personality: A dark young man who seeks only to fight the next toughest opponent, his personal safety is never something he takes into consideration. The only people he ever takes a liking to or trusts are those who are equal or superior to him and are even then nothing but a challenge to clear. He is not one to grant mercy to those he defeats, giving him a cold reputation among those who know him. People even going far enough to offer a bounty for his head, something he is more than happy to accept if it means he gets to fight.

Bio: A former noble in Treno, Kirk's family hit bankruptcy from a mixture of gambling, auctioning and secret black market deals. After losing all their money, Kirk, who had been given experimental black magic doses began to lose his former calm and noble composure once he was unable to have more, the results of this made him kill his entire family. While his sanity was not broken, he became obsessed with combat, wishing for nothing other than a powerful opponent and as the darkness began to fill his being it began to embrace the black magic lying dormant in his body.

After this occurred he began to travel the Mist Continent, fighting strong warriors, powerful monsters and even carrying out bounties to satisfy his newfound craving for strength.

Is that okay? :gasp:

@Terry

An interesting spin on Blue Magic. Sure, you can use that character.

@ Char

You're accepted.

Name: Artis Hawkins

Age: 19

Race: Human

Class: Warrior

Appearance: Artis is about 6 feet tall, and weighs around 140. He had long brown hair, which is usually kept in a ponytail. He has a small dragon on his hand that he has had since his birth, but he wears gloves to cover it up. He wears a long green cloak that when tied up, conceals his weapon and his sturdy undershirt that he uses for armor. To keep sweat out of his eyes, he wears a green headband that he keeps set above his eyebrows.

Weapon: Deathbane (longsword)

Personality: Artis is a shy dude who usually keeps to himself. He doesn't really talk all that much, but when he does, he usually has something important to say. He is not a leader, and does not make an attempt to lead. He is not one to pick fights with other people, but will get into fights if defending someone, or if he is provoked.

Bio: Artis was born in Treno. He somehow managed to keep himself out of trouble while he was young, and kept out of trouble while he grew up. He was offered into some thug groups when he was 13, but he respectfully turned them down. The things he has with him, he made himself in a little back alley. One day, he left Treno for a while to go out adventuring, and when he returned, he tried to help the city, but to no avail. Instead, he continued to keep out of trouble by laying low and avoiding contact with almost everybody in the town, until he turned 18, and finally decided to leave for good. He traveled through South Gate to the city of Dali, where he hitched a ride on the cargo ship as it was leaving to Alexandria. Nobody questioned where he was going, and Artis preferred that, as he thought about where he would go from there.

Good?

I probably won't come up with a character anytime soon... But in the meantime, I'd like to ask. Since this side story's about Fratley, progressing on together with the original storyline, would the story culminate into a similar ending at the end...? Hints hints. Especially in those two... Yeah.. Uh. Amalgamation... Uh... As.s.s.s.s.s.s.s.s.seeeeee....me...lay... Yeah. Would they witness that too? (Heh heh. No spoilers here.)

Everyone can 'create' their own personal endings, but the final 'area' is the lifa tree, and Fratley's ending is the same as in game:
still can't remember his past, but he's moved on and is back together romantically with Freya

Okay, here's my character.

Name-
Venus Ygrisxel

Age-
19

Race-
Human

Class-
Blademaster (Abilities detailed below)

Appearance-
Venus, with her sword, Anathema

Weapon-
Anathema, as shown in the image above. This sword is magical in nature, and only appears when it's user summons it through a secret mental incantation. It is breakable, but can regenerate the broken portions of the blade when de-summoned. Anathema is completely anti-magic, and disallows any form of enchantment - an irony considering it's magical nature.

Personality-
Venus is a social butterfly, easily able to weave in and out of conversations with acquaintances and complete strangers alike. She seems cheerfully open, which often attracts people into conversation with her. However, in more serious moments, she can be very straight-laced, considering the mission above all else.

She is generally quite compassionate and empathetic to people, but can sometimes be cold and unfeeling - depending on the circumstances. That is not to say that she is gullible, for she always watches the person secretly, while on the surface appearing trusting, until she can fully affirm for herself his/her trustworthiness.

Whenever engaged in battle, she develops a horribly strong blood lust, always aiming to bleed her opponent to death. Occasionally, her blood lust gets the better of her, and she may just end up becoming an unfeeling killing machine.

Abilities-
Blade Works

These are sword skills that uses little to no magic. What it uses is the spirit of the user, to enhance the physical strength and sharpness of the blade.

Bio-
Venus' origins is a mystery, even to herself. She doesn't have any clear recollections of the time before she was 6, only remembering her time after that with the Les Mercenaires Forte, a mercenary group.

The mercenary group raised her up in a regime of harsh training all day long - so long it was inhuman for the most part. They imparted to her sword skills, and had expected her to master them by the age of 8, before joining them in the battlefield. Venus wasn't alone on this, though. There were other child orphans that were brought up the same way.

By the age of 8, they were suddenly thrust onto the battlefield. Many of the children died, save for a handful that only survived because they were merely lucky. This hardened the personalities of the survivors, as they came to the realization that the only way to survive was to be cold and ruthless. Bearing that mentality, they survived 7 years.

It was then, there started to be an underlying plot set in motion against the mercenary group. These children may have grown up to be who they were because of the group, but they had also been harboring a deep-seated grudge against them. Venus was one of the key members of this resistance movement, which only struck when she was about 17.

Having been trained well, and being at their primes, the mercenary group didn't last long, ultimately falling under the blades of the child orphans that they had under their thumbs. From there, the group split up, some of them settling down in frontier villages like Dali, while others taking to wandering the world - to satisfy their own wanderlust.

Venus decided to remain in the mercenary business, having found no better way to make a living. She has been doing so for about 2 years now.

Name: -

Age: 0

Race: Black Mage

Class: Black Mage

Appearance: At a glance a traditional black mage. Short in length and small from waist, his body is hidden inside a robe reaching from his neck to his feet. His shoes are pointed from the tops and sit perfectly on his feet. There are no laces yet the shoes never fall off. One might wonder that he was made to fit the shoes. From the collar till the hat is a cute rag doll like black face. The ''skin'' isn't much different from cloth and the eyes glow yellow in dark. Although, if it's bright enough, you will see a crack reaching from his cheek over his nose to the forehead. Probably caused by a sword or something similar. He is also wearing a pointed hat that isn't as long as they usually are, but otherwise there are no real differences in his hat compared to the usual black mage hat.

On another note, he is currently limping his right leg heavily due to an injury.

Weapon: Even tho he has no real weapon, he has a wooden walking staff to aid him.

Personality: There isn't much of a personality yet. Quiet, obviously ( read the bio for answers). Relatively unstable or rather confused but kind heart can be seen from his eyes.

Bio: One morning his eyes opened. He didn't feel much nor did he see much. In his confusion, he stood up and looked around. And that was everything there was.
That's how he, who has no name as of yet, woke up on a lonely street in Lindblum. For days he wandered around with not much of a goal or target, until an old dragoon found him. The good hearted dragoon took him into his house and taught him the basics of life. How to eat and how to greet. But even then he didn't learn to speak. As the old dragoon always said :" A baby doesn't learn how to speak in a day. And you are still a baby". But even the meaning of those words remained mystery to the black mage. And so the life went on for a few days, until the moment that changed everything => TO BE CONTINUED IN THE RP!

I love FF IX :D

Solidjuss and Anathema, your both accepted.

Cardiac Kid can play catch-up once he finishes his profile.

I'm going to write up the RP now.

I'm gonna go ahead and edit the title, and morph this into the Discussion thread, unless R_M has any objections to that.
