Sassen in the Estersand

Does anyone know how on earth your supposed to get Sassen on the otherside of the riverbank?, in the Dalmasca Estersand village there's a cockatrice named Sassen and you have to get him to the otherside of the riverbank in order for him to see Torri, but the stupid dog Nathyl makes things complicated. Aaaaggh! What do I do and what are the steps to get him to the other side?

Help would be much appreciated.

you may already have a solution, but here you go anyway.

you can only do this if you undertook the lost cactuar side quest and returned the little cactuar to his family across the river.

first, talk to tchigri and choose to take nathyl on the boat with you.
then, go back to the southbank alone. this time choose to take arryl with you. go back to the southbank alone and take sassen over with you. go talk to sassen who is over with torri. then talk to torri again.
