So we have the scariest movies thread, well I'm curious at what particular scenes from any movie scared you. It doesn't necessarily have to be from a horror movie either.

Ah yes, and please don't put something like "movie X because actror X's performance was so terrible that it was completely frightening."

Oh and this thread WILL contain spoilers.

Here's mine in no particular order:

1. Carrie. The final scene always makes me jump. The first time I saw the movie I think I was practically screaming bloody murder when I saw Carries bloody arm pop unexpectically from the grave. I always cover my eyes now when that scene comes up.

2. Night of the Living Dead. The part where the daughter, now zombified, kills her mother with the knife. That part is just always too much for me especially since the mother thinks that her sick daughter is finally ok. And just the way it's done disturbs me.

3. The Ring. The opening scene was very well done and truly scared me. Just the way things were happening in the background and the general creepiness of it.

4. Psycho. No not the infamous shower scene, but towards the end when the lady goes up to "mother" and when she turns her around mother is just a rotted corpse sitting in a wheel chair. I seriously expected an old woman to jump up and kill the girl when I first saw it.

5. Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. I know! I know! But I'll explain. Let's see every time a kid disappears, Charlie asks Wonka what happened to them and we're treated with answers like "Oh that leades to the boiler", "Hopefully they'll squeeze her out in time before she explodes." "She fell into the incinerator." While those lines amuse me now, when I was little and I would watch this movie, that utterly terrified me. I don't think they even say if any of those kids made it out ok.

May post more later.

Ring - the actual videotape itself and the stuff on it. I always find it horribly creepy.

The Sixth Sense - when Cole's mother leaves the kitchen and walks back a few seconds later to find (with a cry of horror) all the cupboards in the kitchen have been opened.

Audition - Pretty much the entire last half-hour

LOTR: Fellowship of the Ring - Honestly, the bit where Bilbo sees the Ring around Frodo's neck and goes 'RARGH!' - I jumped about six feet in the air seeing that at the cinema XD

Darkness Falls; when the spirit grabs the guy in the forest. I shit a brick at that.

I seriously can't think of any other specific ones, but there have been others.

When i was 12 i saw the shining and i found the bit where the boy rides the bike and the twin girls are staring at him really scary :(

The Descent - Those creatures that made those freaky noises...it just scared the shit out of me. =/ Actually, I was pretty much freaked out while watching the movie altogether.

I'm sure there's more, but I can't really think of any at the moment...

Don't Look Now -

no scenes since I can't spoil the ending, but more or less the whole movie is eeeeerie

The first ever scene that scared the living hell out of me was from Jaws, and I was about 12 when I first saw Jaws...come to think of it, the whole movie made me stay out of water for a whole month...and I used to live by the sea.

Jaws : the head scene in particular

Alien : seeing it as a kid, it is scary as hell, when you do not know anything about the film; the chest burster gave me nightmares

Descend : totally agree, man I turned all the damn lights on around the house, inspected every corner

X-files/season one/episdoe Squeeze: think anyone who knows x files will know what I am talking about here

Event Horizon: his recurring nightmare was creepy as hell

The Shining : the bathtub scene

..may think of some more later
