Okay, so you remember that part when you go to the Shinra bld. to save Aeris/Aerith? Remember when you leave your prison cells and find Pres. Shinra dead with Sephiroth's sword in his back? One thing bothers me there. Cloud said "Only Sephiroth can use that sword..." In a flashback Tifa picked it up and kind of used it. But what do you think Cloud meant by that?

It is too large for anyone else to wield effectively. If it is literal then I'm certain this is just a plot hole of some kind. The sword was something like 7' if I remember correctly.

Okay, that's what I thought too. Either that or when I first played I thought maybe there was a power hidden within that sword that made it to where only he could use it. But Sephiroth is 6 ft something isn't he? Cloud's like 5 ft 8 in to 5 ft 10 if I'm not mistaken. But I'd say that makes pretty good sense.

That right, it definitely the wielding effectiveness. Remember Sephiroth has been using that weapon for all the scenes possible and on all timelines (e.g. CC).

The gameplay of FF7 has no level (training?) requirements for weapons as long as they're available for purchase, drop, or reward...
Unfortunately, Masamune seems to be one of a kind :)

I think that sums it up pretty well. I mean, Sephiroth is bad ass enough without any weird sword power so he doesn't need it. It has to be his height and strength that allows him to weild it. You ever wonder how he got it though?

Masamune is only able to be wielded by Sephiroth because of his great skill and strength yes, look at Dissidia He is the only Chaos minion who wields a weapon like those in use by Cosmos's dudes and lackeys.

Octoslash is an incredibly powerful move, its 5 strikes but you get 8 lots of damage dealt, and its performed in like 0.7-1.5 seconds all with an 8 foot sword BTW single handed. That speaks volumes of Sephs strength an skill.

No doubt you're right about that. I mean he is strong but which do you think would be heavier, the masamune or the buster sword? I personally think the buster sword. But sephiroths height and reach probably allows that sword to be wielded with max efficiency. And going into Dissidia...I hate the idea that chaos and cosmos have lackeys and such. I hate the fact that Sephiroth could be used by some Ifrit/demon wannabe. Or that Cloud, squall and all the others answer to that weak version of an angel or something.

Hmm, thinking about it, I think that Sephiroth can only use the mammoth sword Masamune because of his unreal power he's recieving from the Jenova DNA, and it must take an inhuman amount of skill to be able to effectivly wield a 7' long sword.

Murasame must weigh 10-20+ pounds.

Not anyone can use something that large & heavy in a fight.
Let's also keep in mind that Angeal, Zack, and Cloud all used the buster sword too. That thing weighs much more than the Masamune I guarantee. But yeah, It's a little bit longer for sure. I always wondered how the buster sword never broke the masamune lol.
