*well heres a good one for ya kiddies, i just thought this out while making comments about the anime characters attributes, qualities, skills, charm and everything else. And i come up with the question, who can match Sephiroth? or at least who can stand along him on equal footing based on characterisrtics, personality, skills, power(whatever :D), popularity, image and dominance :D

*well I vote for "L" of Deathnote, although hes not much of a hands on fighting kinda guy like Sephy, hes still has superior qualities like intelligence and a superior way of thinking that Sephy. hes not that popular but he has his own image and i hear hes gaining quite a few fans all over the world :D :eek:uttahere: im one of em :) I say L can beat Sephy in a great ratio of elements :) :holyshit:

I actually think that L is the character to beat rather than Sephiroth. Whilst Sephiroth is cool I think he is incredibly overrated as a character. L on the other hand is by far my favorite character in the sense that he has his own quirks and a certain charm to him. His habits such as the way he sits, the way he only eats sweets, the way he holds things ect.. makes him a far more realistic, well developed character than Sephiroth in my opinion.

Well Considering intelligence "L" would have won easily however in combat L can't do a thing if you think about it.
But I think "Zaraki Kenpachi" from Bleach would have stood up to him, he has a superior strength, however I'm not a Bleach fan.

*woo hoo thats a good call man! in a batlle of strength or power maybe kenpachi can fight it out with sephy but he loose in the image and popularity rate :D and Im a total fan of Zaraki Kenpachi but i dunno about their match, Sephiroth is quite a swordsman? ;)

Nuh I actually do consider L to be a superior character to Sephiroth, I think there are several characters which surpass Sephiroth but L stands out to me (I'm a little biased towards him).

Quite obviously Sephiroth would destroy him in a fight but that's not the point.

Ignore the shear strength that the characters possess and look at what defines them as a character. By looking at personality alone, L appears to be the superior, more interesting character In my opinion.

If your after who could actually beat sephiroth in a fight than take your pick from any of the characters in the Dragon Ball Z universe.

L would bet Sephiroth with intelligence but so would Lelouch from Code Geass, although Lelouch would be able to make Sephiroth his puppet.

Zaraki vs Sephiroth, that would be a match I would want to see.

I'm not much of an anime person so I can't pick out of a large array of shows. One show I can think of with fighting style comparison would be Rurouni Kenshin. I say this simply because of the whole sword fighting thing.

Then of course there are all the people from DBZ...

Only two anime shows I can honestly remember watching so those are the only people I know of.

*nice one guys buy your thinking too simple on this one, i dont mean beating Sephiroth by means of fighting or whatever combative style? i mean totally obliterating him, intellectually, physically, popularity, image and many moooore :D :D weeeeeeee

I think that Kuchiki Byakuya from Bleach would be Spehiroth's counterpart. They are not so different: Extremely powerful (I'm talking about Byakuya from the Soul Society arc), has loyal followers and both have a 'no mercy' attitude.

*hey thats a good choice my friend, i catually think they just copied sephy's features and made kuchiki :) well cant blame em cause sephy rocks right! :) thatd being said i would consider their battle to be formidable. who knows maybe a bunch of floating razor like cherry blossom leaves could kill the almighty sephiroth ;)

Sephiroth overrated whaaaaaaaat? :D Ppl keep saying that but the reason why he is because well he deserves it. Sephiroth isn't all about strength either he has some intellegence. But back to the subject I think Greed from Fullmetal Alchemist could take Sepy that armor of Greeds was crazy IDK how Ed found a way through it.

As much as I hate Aizen from BLEACH, he comes closest to Sephiroth's bad assery.

He's even trying to be "god"(sure he fails but hey what ever). Also, Aizen is the only villain I can think of that used a girl against a dude.

They also have the really seductive handsomeness going on. Not to mention the willingness to throw away ANYONE for his own good.

So, yea, my pick is Aizen.

First of, Sephiroth as a villain is vastly over-rated. Just getting that out of the way. (Kefka and Kuja FTW)

Anywho, I'd agree with Cookie up there. Seph can't use alchemy to get past the diamond hard armor that Greed was able to conjure up. And if you're fighting someone with the ultimate defense and you can't get through their armor, all they have to do is pretty much sit there and wait until you tire out.

Kenpachi and Aizen would be my votes. They're both swordsmen of no mean skill, so can match Sephiroth in that department. They're both totally insane, so it's match there. And they both have abilities separate of their swordsmanship.

If all three of them fought, i would be paying money.

Anime characters who can defeat Sephy? I can think of a lot of them...
1. Haruhi Suzumiya (Haruhi series)
Yes, this is cheating, I know. All Haruhi needs to do is to wish that Sephiroth never existed.
2. Yuki Nagato (Haruhi series)
Again, cheating. She's almost invincible...
3. Ryougi Shiki (Kara no Kyoukai)
Cheating, sort of. Shiki can still die. But if she manages to stab Sephy, then Sephy dies.
4. Tohno Shiki (Tsukihime)
Same as the other Shiki, however I believe he needs to aim for a certain point in order to kill Sephy.
5. Accelerator (To Aru Majutsu no Index)
More cheating. Nothing can touch Accelerator, and Touma is probably the only one who can defeat him.
6. Most Servants from Fate/Stay Night

Yeah, I can list a lot more, but I'm too lazy...

Though I would just post my favorite characters of the anime world, Aizen gets my vote. If what I heard about him is true, only someone with the caliber of Sephiroth would be able to take him on.

But if I have to pick someone else -- preferably from my favorite anime -- it would be these two.

Clear Note (Konjiki no Gash Bell): His ultimate goal was to destroy everything. Once Gash and Kiyomaro confronted him, Clear Note was able to fire an attack (from outer space) that was capable of destroying the entire planet. I think Sephiroth can do that to some extent, but Clear's power of annihilation would bring even Sephy to his knees.

Happosai (Ranma 1/2): A perverted old man, he is a talented martial artist. No one, and I mean no one, is able to defeat him in a fair fight. If Sephiroth somehow exploited Happy's weaknesses of women and their undergarments, he'd have the match won.
