Hey guyz :)

so whos it gonna be?

Which character do you think looks best in trance?

I thought i'd focus on design only.

and only vote for one :P

the choices are:


  • Zidane
  • Garnet/Dagger
  • Vivi
  • Steiner
  • Freya

Hmm, tie between Amarant and Vivi. Vivi looks alot better in trance. He looks a hell of a lot more confident and a bit more intimidating. Amarant just looks more kick ass and glowy. So, imma go with Vivi.
 
For me it was a toss up between Zidane and Garnet, with Steiner following those two. In the end, I decided to vote for Garnet, just because her trance is slightly less over-the-top than Zidane's is, even if it does look cool. I just think the golden hair and the bright glow work really well here, since trance is supposedly meant to be caused by emotional surges, and Garnet's trance is of course only available at points in the game when she is emotionally stable, so the trance effect for her is a good way of showing her when she has overcome her more self deprecating moments.

Aside from those two, the others that stand out to me are Steiner and Kuja. Steiner looks a whole lot tougher in his trance mode, which helps alleviate the notion of a comic relief character that his standard appearance somewhat entails. As for Kuja, I didn't really like the way it looked in the game itself, but in the cinematics he looks a whole lot better, as well as in Dissidia. Though it wouldn't really be fair to put him as the one who looks coolest based on an FMV appearance, when none of the other characters got their trance forms in one. As for the others, Freya, Amarant and Vivi just don't deviate from their initial forms for me, whereas Quina and Eiko end up looking ridiculous.
 
Definately Kuja's Trance, he looks awesome!

I'd say Kuja, cuz he's the only one who gets a cutscene for his trance mode... but personally, I preffer Freya's and Steiner's, cause I love how the designers worked out thei outfits... about Zidane's trance mode, it kinda turns off cuz he looks like some sort of pink monkey plushie and makes me doubt about his manliness (even though, I love color pink, you can tell). I think that Zidane's trance mode should have been more creative, more like Kuja's, with feathers and all... cause I think it's too simple.

Just imagine... how would Beatrix look on trance mode? :D
 
Garnet. At first i didnt really see much, kinda all glowy white. But upon further inspection, i found out she was wearing something a bit more revealing. lol
 
I actually really like the way Eiko looks in trance. Her colours go all cool and pastelish and she grows an awesome horn and cute little angel wings :)

I really don't like Zidanes :( I wanted to but a pink fuzzy monkey is just embarrassing.
 
I liked Kuja's trance form the best. Probably because I'm a nostalgic nerd and it reminded me of the ever so pointless Super Saiyin 4 form from Dragon Ball GT. I also really liked Vivi's. Little sucker pretty hardcore.

When i first saw him i thought the exact same thing. I thought they had stole Kuja's trance and used it to design SS4. Now im tryin to figure out which came first so i know who stole what from what :O ? xx
 
I picked Kuja. He's my favorite character of FFIX and his Trance form doesn't make it seem like he's glowing and pulsating, it's natural and still boosts his power a great deal lot. Seriously, I can't even LOOK at Garnet for long while she's on Trance without getting partially blind. o_x
 
I love the idea of how trance pretty much shows everyone at their tip-top shape. With that being said, I'm going to choose Kuja because his design embodies perfectly his emotions at the time. Wild, at the end of his rope, and desperate.
 
Freya is my choice. steiner, vivi and kuja are also possible contenders but i have a soft spot for freya. the rest just look....odd.
 
Freya by far. She just looks completely badass (simply because she is). I do have to agree about Garnet. Despite the revealing clothing, it's pretty bright. Also, Freya is one of the very few women in FF that isn't eye candy yet kicks serious ass. Vivi and Kuja are my second and third faves.
 
Freya's Trance definately. Besides, I just like her character design overall; both her outfit and her personality. I really felt her pain seeing Burmecia and Cleyra fall. Definately liked how they showed how strong she can be.

Following close is Vivi in 2nd place. He maybe small, but packs a punch with Double Black, let alone his regular attacks! Plus, he's just a cool little guy =)
 
Steiner!

He turns into fucking Buzz Lightyear when he's in trance mode! You can't get much better than that. Seriously, he looks like Buzz in trance form. The green glowing part, the helmet thing on his face, it screams Buzz at me.
