So, just curious. What do you prefer to call 'em? Soda or Pop? To be honest, I called it Soft Drink back when I was in my country. I was seven at the time. However, when I came to California, I've been calling it Soda ever since.

Now I'm here in Ohio and the people here call it Pop. I'm not saying all the people in Ohio calls it Pop, but a lot of them, especially here in the Columbus area, calls them Pop. I'm a cashier at Meijer and I have never heard anyone referred to it as Soda. They usually say, "This pop is on sale."

Hmm, lately, I've been calling it Pop now too. Oh well. When I go back to California, I'll go back to saying it as Soda.

The only 'soda' we have over here is soda water. And it's vile...

I personally refer to things by their names, like Coke, lemonade, Fanta, etc. However if pushed, I'd call it pop.

I call it soda. I've never really called it anything else. I've heard of it refered to as both but... meh it's just soda. So that's what I call it. Besides, it's sodium cabonate... so soda kind of makes more sense anyhow. :P

I, too, tend to just refer to things by their name. I think "Pop" is the most popular name for it here, though. Or, at least, I've never heard anyone call it "Soda".

I call it pop. But when I'm in Tennessee, it's soda. I think it just depends where you are. I've heard that mainly midwest and north-eastern call it pop , while southern and west calls it soda.

pop is good

I've always called it soda. i never heard anyone around here call it 'pop' before. I have only heard called that in some movies.

I've always called it Soda-Pop, but I've lived all over the country as well. From the Midwest to the far South, to the East coat and then back to the Midwest Lol...

I call it soda. I do have family in Ohio and they all call it pop, however.....

I live in Texas in a small city outside of Houston. When I moved here I was so confused by the following:

I was at a friend's house and she asked if I wanted a coke. I said sure. She said, what kind. I said...ummm regular coke. Then she says, no...do you want a root beer, dr. pepper, etc. Huh!? I said but you asked me if I wanted a coke. I get this look like I'm stupid. Apparently, a lot of people in this area refer to any type of soft drink as a coke. So, if you're ever in the Houston area and someone asks you if you want a coke and asks what kind, you'll know what they're talking about.

It's not Pop! It's SOda!!

I don't really know of anyone that says Pop. If I ever went into a fast food restaurant and said "I'd like a small pop" they would look at me funny.

Well, I usually just call things by their names, like Sprite, Coke, etc... But whenever I don't know what they have, I ask for a pop. When I was younger, I used to call it soda-pop, though. :P

Pop! I called it soda when I lived in south Florida because people would jump on you otherwise, but that was for a short period of time and then I got back to calling it pop.

Yeah, I'm originally from Michigan, and everyone I knew called it pop. I never heard anyone ever call it soda. Then I moved to Texas, and I heard 'Soda' 'Soda Water' and the 'Coke'. I was so confused just like you when someone asked me if I wanted a Coke, and then asked what kind. I almost called 'em a retard.

I live in Texas still, and have for years now, but I still refuse to call it Soda. I never have, and I never will. I say it loud purposely now whenever I'm at a grocery store or restaurant xD

Heh, I find it so hilarious that people who calls it "Pop" makes fun of people who calls it "Soda" or "Coke"... and vice versa. I don't know why they have different names in different regions. It's quite interesting, really.

Whoa, I never noticed the Houston reference. I live in a small town southeast of houston by a few miles. Crazy.

Same here.

Have you caught yourself calling different types of drinks cokes? I try my best to avoid doing that because I don't want to start that habit. It's hard though because it happens all the time down here.
