I find that as well as providing inspiration for any purpose, music almost always cheers me up. What songs in particular do exactly that for you?

Here are a few of mine.

This has been one of the more recent songs. It's one of those songs that screams, "To hell with everything! Let's have some goddamn fun!" It puts a smile on my face each time it plays.

This is one of my guilty pleasure songs with my best friend. We'd used to sing it on the way home from the cinema. It's some good old rock and roll. It never fails to cheer me up.

This is a very recent one. I sort of liked it, but then loved it with the music video and began to understand what it meant. It's brought me out of a few dark moods just lately and I'm glad it exists.

It's so chipper and upbeat. But, to be honest, I don't know what to think about a song called I Am Satan that starts with the line "Hey, Judy." I think it cheers me up because it's so goofy that I can't help but smile. I don't know if he was being serious or not.

It's not necessarily a happy song, but there's this optimistic flair that just makes me feel better.

I know that it's morbid and all, but I can't help but smile when I hear this song.

I just love how cheesy this song is. It's energetic and uplifting.

This song describes itself =p

fantastically up beat and optimistic. guy garvey has a great voice.

i properly love damon albarn's voice.

and also pretty much anything by oasis, because i fucking love them so.

That, and any other song by Queen. When I'm feeling miserable, I just put my Queen playlist on. After the third song at most I've forgotten what I was stewing about and I'm singing along without a care in the world. More than any other group, Queen just makes me feel good ♥

Similarly, Bon Jovi has the ability to completely banish my concerns and have me singing along in no short order.

...this one just makes me giggle. Creepy stalker version FTW!

I'm not overly keen on Mika, but for some reason I can't resist this song. I can understand why mother is always singing along to it, its incredibly catchy, and it does actually put me in quite a good mood...

Can't go wrong with a little classical...since Sander Cohen in BioShock, this has become my favourite classical piece. I just start humming this when I'm irritated. Works every time if I don't have music on ♥

There are many, many others...most of them older than I am. The stuff I was raised on - Queen, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Ace of Base, Diana Ross, etc - always cheers me up, even though its not really to my taste any more. Its just so delightfully nostalgic ♥

It would all depend on what kinda mood im in.
If im at work and a bit grumpy or bored then any song i like will make feel a little better as opposed to the same songs they play eeeeeeevery siiiiiiiiingle daaay.
Honestly i wouldnt say theres any particular song that would really cheer me up when im at a low point. Im a huge music lover but theres really not a song out there that can change how i feel if the situation is really bad. If im just a little upset over something il throw on some j.e.w or biffy and il feel better.
On the other hand if im in a really bad growling mood theres loaaads of songs i can put on that will calm me down and cheer me up a bit.
All depends on my mood really and how bad it is.

Boom De Ah Dah - Discovery Channel (Commercials don't usually have that effect...)

Here Comes the Sun - The Beatles (If this song is not mentioned at least three more times, something is wrong with you people.)

So Happy Together - The Turtles (Another d'aww one)

Mull of Kintyre - Wings. It's basically Wings' version of Here Comes the Sun :3

Come Cover Me - Nightwish (The song doesn't sound like it'd have that effect, but this is pretty much my all-time favorite Nightwish song and there's a ton of memories I associate with it :3 )

Burnin' For You - Blue Oyster Cult (Something about the sound in this one..)

Almost any Christmas song there is (especially ones by John Denver and the Muppets). I'll drop my top three here, as the entire list would be way too long:
When the River Meets the Sea
Silver & Gold
Over the River and Through the Woods - Danny Kaye & the Andrews Sisters (can't find a clip of it).

My life has been the pits lately....music is usually one of the things that I come back to quite frequently to help soothe my nerves a bit.

I heard Katy Perry's Firework on the radio this morning and it perked me up a bit. Sometimes life can be hard and hearing someone tell you "you can do it!" or "I have faith in you" can give you a little extra umph to help you move on from day to day. So Firework is my new cheer me up song.

Lady Gaga - "Boys Boys Boys"
The beat is so retro 80s, I just LOVE IT! The lyrics are fun and so girly!
"Boys boys boys, we like boys in cars. Boys boys boys, buy us drinks in bars. Boys boys boys, with hairspray denim. And boys boys boys, we love them, we love them. "

:ryan:
This song just makes me smile and just feel happier. Anytime I'm down I listen to it so I can feel a bit better.

Usually any up-beat and or funny songs is what cheers me up. The one's that make me wanna get up and dance xD. It just puts me in such a better mood ya know?

One comes to mind-

Jason Mraz - The Remedy (I Won't Worry) (Video)

It's that feel good song. The song the calms me down saying: Don't worry xD. It really has an effect on me and, when I listen to it, it chills me. Makes me feel mellow and, I drift away and forget my worries for a few minutes til its over xD.

Eric Prydz - Call on me

This song always makes me feel 10 times better. XD

It's so upbeat and makes me feel like nothing can possibly be wrong when I listen to this song.

Usually watching the music video helps even more. It's such a classic. XD

I mean look at the guys face. He's lovin' it. XD How could that not make you smile and forget about the shit going on around you? XD

Fantastic for uplifting my mood!

Natasha Bedingfield - Pocketful Of Sunshine

The energy of this song is what really cheers me up as well as the lyrics. I have always like Natasha but, this feel-good song is what makes me like her a bit better. I always turn to this song if I feel down it deff. has a great vibe to it and kinda raises my spirits.

It's a sort of bouncy little thing and it helped when I was in this sort of post-Christmas funk o_O I can't really explain it...I haven't even heard any of his other songs.

The Smiths usually cheer me up with their lovely take on how pop music should be, however, that doesn't extend to songs like Asleep or Meat is Murder. Also I like the fact that however depressed or tired I may be feeling, Morrissey could be on a beach surrounded by models, and he would still be more miserable than me.
Also Witness by Roots Manuva, just thinking about the music video makes me smile.
