There can't be anything more classic then then this. I remember this being one of the very first games I played. And to this day I don't think ever did beat the first game. I got stuck in the lava or couldn't make it through the rising water part.<_<

How many of you have played this game and beat it? How many remember it being one of your first games? Was it a fun or did you dislike it?

I remeber Sonic...but it's been a longgg time, lol.

I never beat it, I wasn't really that into video games yet when I was that young, but I remember playing it with my friends in elementary school.

Sonic ftw! recent games are abit pants tho. I remember playing Sonic 1 through to 3 at a young age. never really finished them tho cos the 'ol console got broke by moi :(

I picked up a copy of 'Sonic Mega Collection+' for the PS the other year, so I'm able to play all the classics now.

Lol you must be my, like half distant weird bro Mevv cause I remember playing Sonic and getting stuck on the exact same parts!!! That was in sonic 1, best sonic on Sega before it went all 3D and crap! was Sonic and knuckles. I recently bought ALL the old sonics, like 10 of em for PS2!!! You they re formatted em to ps2 Its called 'Sonic mega collection' I got the plus version.

Sonic I remmeber it I finished it, but I still like it ^^ , I got Shadow The Hedgedog but I still didn't decided if I want to play it or not

YES, Sonic the Hedgehog was my first game and the Sega Genesis was my first system! I got them for my 7th birthday. Those were the days. That was (and is) a great game, though I also hated Labyrinth Zone. Star Light Zone made it all worth it, though. And Final Zone had great music, though Robotnik wasn't that hard to beat. And...

Yeah, I played up through 2, 3 and Sonic & Knuckles. I also had 2 and Drift 2 for the Game Gear. My little brother was the one to collect Sonic games after that, starting with Adventure 2 Battle and Adventure DX on the Gamecube, Sonic Battle on the GBA, etc. It's still easily one of my favorite series of all time.

First Sonic game I played was the first game on the Master System, never had a NES.

Last great Sonic game was probably Sonic & Knuckles, everything else apart from the GBA + DS titles aren't worth anything compared to the heyday. I have the Mega Collection for the PS2 as well which really just points out how crap all the 3D games are.

Boo hiss at new sonic.

Old Sonic FTW.
I remember finishing Sonic 1 on Megadrive when I was about 4 or 5.

Then I got sad cause I fried it by leaving it on over night on Star light zone one time

woop...i have it on my phone...it helped me get through highschool lol

Aw man, Sonic is awesome. The Sega Genesis was my first game console, and the first three Sonic games were some of my first games ever. I loved 'em to death; Got me totally hooked on gaming.

I never beat the first three Sonic games. The first two because I couldn't save (Didn't have patience to play that long as a little kid, plus my Sega would heat up fast), and in number three I got stuck in Carnival Night. Y .Y

I currently have: Sonic 1, Sonic 2, Sonic 3, Sonic Mega Collection, SA2B, and Sonic Heroes.

Lemme guess, on Carnival Night, you went into an area with a spinning platform and it went up and down if you jumped on it, but there was a door behind you that locked you in.

Well I got stuck on that bit anyway, then I worked it out, so i got happy ^_^

I love the old sonic's ^_^ I remember playing it in my mum and dad's room before I had to go to school I still haven't finished sonic 1 (I got Sonic mega collection for PS2) the only problem is that when i asked my little cousin (he's 7) if he wanted to play the orginal Sonic he asked me if I ment Sonic Heros >_< when I put sonic 1 in for him he flipped out and said it wasn't Sonic and made me feel old :sad2:

I got stuck there for a while, too. It must be a common thing.

I think Knuckles's theme from Sonic 3 was better than the new theme they gave him in Sonic & Knuckles.

Was Sonic and Knuckles the game where you could put other cartridges in the top and play the special levels? I think I had all of the Sonics for the Genesis, even the pinball game which was a pain in the ass sometimes.
