SOTW General Information

SOTW = Signature Of The Week. The SOTW competition takes place once a week and can only be set up by a designated mod, but anyone can enter. Every week there is a theme or at least guidelines set up for everyone to follow.

Here is an example:

Theme: Anime
Rules: Transparency allowed, can't be be square.
Rules that apply to every SOTW​

1.) Do not vote for your own entry. You will be immediately disqualified if you do so.

2.) Do not submit the same sig/tag in more than one SOTW. That's just silly, and will get you disqualified.

3.) All entries regardless of the theme, must fit the forum sig limits which is 500x200.

4.) All votes must have a post to match, or they will be discarded.

5.) You must elaborate on what you like about the signature that you are voting for. Voting for a signature because it has a character you like in it just as a reason all by itself is a perfect example of how to get your vote invalidated. Votes without proper elaboration of what strikes your fancy about the graphic will be discarded as well. This does not mean that you have to write a paragraph critique. Appreciate the overall signature you're voting for, not just the character in it.
Purpose for this thread​


The purpose for this thread is to discuss current, past and upcoming SOTW discussions. Also, you can suggest themes for SOTW (which is more than welcome =D) And winners for each SOTW will be posted here =D
Schedule​


Every week an 'entry' thread will be posted, where I tell you the theme and other guidelines, and then you will pm Stevie Nicks or Asuka Kazama your entries, so the voting will be anonymous. That way, we can cut down on playing favorites at least a little bit. And on the following week, that entry thread will be deleted, a poll for members to vote will be opened, and a new guidelines thread will be opened for the following SOTW.

This week's theme being Crisis Core, it may be hard for some of you to get a hold of nice stocks... but fear not!

You could also use fanart of CC characters, but I think you'd have to limit fanart to Zack, Genesis and other CC-only characters. Unless it's something obvious, like Aerith in her CC dress.

Just two wins? As I remember, your entries have been always the bests, except one case that Angel Valentine's was better.
You just did not keep participating, otherwise you would win almost all of them.

How do we go about doing it though...? I have the impression that only one person would be doing the whole signature work, while the other coaches or gives advice, vice versa. =/ Would that be allowed...?

And Mark, I'll take you on. xD I don't really talk to anyone else who participates in SoTW. =/
 
I'd say you keep sending each other the PSD and you keep adding bits to it. Dereks the one who mentioned the collaboration idea to me the opther day, so he'll probably know more about it then I xD

I guess that would be fine as well....

the general idea is to make a signature yourself, then pass the PSD on to your partner to work with.
 
I'm working with Mitsuki, so we're both sorted partner-wise =]

Post here when you have a partner too please, so I know who's working with who.
 
I'm looking for a partner but I must admit that I have never done a collaboration signature before since my style is different from most.
 
Try to look around past SOTW participants who've been active lately, and nab them on MSN. =]

But make sure you don't try to nab Mugen, 'cause myself and him are working together. xD
 
Well, so far I know that Mitsuki and I and Derek and Mugen are competing.

If there are any other pairs, please tell me ASAP, or I'll open the voting thread as soon as I get Dereks entry.

Since I couldn't post in the other thread, I'd just like to mention that I thought #3 was the deserved winner from SOTW35. It was just simple and effective :)
 
does anyone have any suggestions for the upcoming SOTW? I'm afraid I'm fresh out of ideas, and I don't want to force something on the users that's above their level of graphics :monster:
