Well,we didn't have a thread for it so I decided to make one. It's one of my favorite games and this summer Soul Calibur 4 is coming out. What are your thoughts on this game?
I personally find the storyline pretty interesting with the cursed sword(soul edge) and the holy sword(soul calibur).I just hoped they spent more time on the story. As seen in trailers, the gameplay has improved in SC4 and it's more realistic like when you break your opponent's guard or the opposite, some of the clothes are ripped or supposed to be ripped. In the Hildegard(she's some kind of a knight) case her helmet breaks.
Those who are interested in SC4 must have already noticed the many female bonus characters that have been added this time and the Star Wars characters.

Isn't Soul Calibur used to be Soul Edge or something like that?
I believe I have SC3 it's interesting however there are some of the characters that I don't like for being amazingly slow D:

Basically it's called Soul series including the Soul Edge games and Soul Calibur games.

Ahh! nice a SC thread has been made. I love all of the games and I am planning on getting SCIV next month when it is released. I am pretty excited. I think the best new thing in it is online play. But yeah it should be awesome.

I think the same. The graphics kick *ss.The only thing I'd change is put some clothes on Ivy.

I agree to that. But it brings you embarrassment when someone who hasn't played the previous game and Ivy pops up.They'll think the worst for you and the game.I think this time Namco focused on fanservice rather than the story.

Personally, I don't care much about the "Soul" series, It's not like I hate it though. Most gamers will probably share my opinion. I see it as a "beat the game, put it on the shelf" game. But none the less, a game to be reckoned with.

I don't see the title doing much impact as GTA or Metal Gear would on a next gen gaming system, lets say little affect at all. Soul Calibur 2 did help make the systems different by featuring different characters for ps2, ngc, x-box...however left the out the gamers who wanted to play Link on the ps2 (who didn't own another system) or players who wanted to play Spawn on the NGC.

There was mixed opinions about the 3rd title, the fact that some stuff were scrapped out of the original idea and the quest system being corrupted: which occasionally can wipe out a memory card for the ps2 system rendering it useless and broken...I guess bricked.

That's my opinion...

I see your point but I think the newly added "Online Play" might just be the thing to make to make Soul Cailber IV a game that people might wanna pick up if only for the online. I know that is the feature I am looking forward to alot. I do see your point though the SC games got old after awhile. But I think thats what happens with games that lack online play. It's like you beat the story then what? But now that SC is going to have online I think that will attract more players.

I Can't Believe SC4 Has 2 Star wars Characters Instead of having SW Charactes they should have someone from tales of abyss!I heard that the 2 SWC Can use Force. They also said the game has a way to break gaurding by Destroying the enemy's Armour.

@Saber:I'm glad they decided to make it more realistic, like when breaking the guard destroying the enemy's armor. In fact they should get dirty too and look a little bit beaten or sweaty.I haven't seen or heard anyone come back from a battle safe and sound, lol.

I just wish there were actual "new" characters other than Hilde and Algol. After all, since all the others are either from guest artists or another franchise all together, they're likely to go the way of Necrid and disappear after this game if there's to be any continuation in the series.

Still, I'm liking some of the redesigns of the old characters; Yunseong looks freakin' badass now, Kilik looks the best he has since the first Soul Calibur, Yoshimitsu and Rock look mighty, and Astaroth's made of magma - burning effect on grabs please?:sneaky:

It'll be interesting to see how successful they are with some of the gameplay changes they were talking about. I hope they do indeed reduce the likliehood of ringouts though.

I recently got back into playing these kinda games, I use to own SC2 and i really liked it, but got bored cause i kept getting my ass handed to me on harder difficulties. The games basically a huge button mashing game to me and thats because the list of commands for the specific attacks is confusing and it asks me to hit the letter A or B when I have a PS2 controller in my hands. So I just get lucky with certain moves and if i like them ill use them. I just bought SC3 today, new for $8.99!! and I love it, the intro was pretty damn cool but im not sure if its better than the SC2 intro that one was awesome.

My fav character are the slow type characters with the devestating blows and the huge swords like NightMare for example :P

It suks SC4 isnt coming out on the Wii, i dont think, maybe later!! hopefully....
I think it could handle the graphics so why not =(

I also love SC3.The best part were the Chronicles with your own characters.I still can't beat that nerdy damn guy.I was so close to beating him once but,I lost.

I had played ever single Soul series since the released of Soul Blade for Playstation 1. I really do enjoy this series alot especially the characters and their movesets. I just haven't played much of the series as of lately but with the release of Soul Calibur IV, it will take my soul to a whole new level. Li Long, Maxi, Mitsurugi, and Taki have been and will always be my favorites.

My favourites were always Raphael, Mitsurugi, Seigfried, Nightmare, Seung Mi Na and Yun Seong. Can't wait till the 1st of August when I can finally get SC4. :) Just wish I could have rebought SC3 before it... Ah well.

I love Soul Calibur. It is easily one of the best fighting series out there, and I love the customizing it has.
