I realise trying to apply logic to video games is a war with no end BUT.......

When Yuna asks Tidus to be her guardian, Wakka almost has a heart attack! he goes nuts, asking what she is thinking of etc.

Bear in mind Tidus has already proven he can fight by this point.

But then when they find Rikku, a young girl laying on the floor, Yuna asks her to be her guardian and Wakka is like "oh, ok"

I just found it a bit odd is all.

My theory is he learned his words cannot influence Yuna anymore and no matter what he sais nothing will change, thats my thinking. i mean he didnt seem to thrilled to have her join the team either

But did yuna not know rikku? they were cousins after all werent they? im not completely making things up am i? i do have a kind of awful memory but im sure thats right.
you would think wakka would be even more hesitant at accepting rikku though as she is al-bhed!

You won't find a male character in spira that wouldn't hit it. That's why.
He prolly Wakkas off to her in the locker room. -__-

What's really why is probably that Rikku's related to Yuna. In all honesty. The need for the battle proof wasn't there because she's already blood. Technically, she had dibbs anyway. :monster:

Racism thrives! You had to touch it cuz it was black. What the hell is wrong with you?

Edit: The previous post wasn't there when I clicked "reply." That's the reason for my post repeating Kerbles'. :jtc:

Yuna and Rikku are related but Wakka didn't know at the time because they were keeping secret that Yuna was by blood half al-bhed. But I do find it strange, I never really thought about it before, I was just excited to have Rikku as a party member haha.

I know that Lulu and the others knew Yuna was half Al-Bhed. But I don't think Yuna knew that she was related to Rikku until it was explicitly said. I'm pretty sure Rikku and Cid knew, but at the time Yuna saw her as just another person. I could be wrong, been quite some time. Even back when I played it though, I seem to recall that the whole thing was pretty random anyway. A lot of plot points in Final Fantasy's seem to be played off. Especially with the more eccentric characters joining the team. Cait Sith joining in FFVII, the Orphanage in FFVIII...Quina.

At the time, Wakka didn't know Yuna and Rikku were related, he doesn't find out till ust before Evrae, cause Cid says he won't let his niece get hurt and Wakka goes "uhh niece?"

I think Wakka's so calm about Rikku joining as a guardian because he relaxes as the pilgrimage continues, and I think by then he's realised that he has to trust Yuna's decisions. Or something like that.

Yeah Wakka didn't know that they were cousins, all he knew was she was some girl laying on the river-bank. And he didnt even realise Rikku was al-bhed despite her clothing and obvious al-bhed eyes.

Auron approves of Rikku becoming Yuna's guardian, so that was probably good enough for Wakka. And just before Rikku joins the party Yuna was attacked by the Al Bhed, so Wakka probably thinks the more guardians the better. And again Lulu and Yuna want Rikku to be Yuna's guardian so he probably thinks they know each other and Rikku doesn't think she comes from 1000 years in the future.
Mainly though, I think because Auron believes in Rikku, Wakka does to because he trusts in Auron's judgement.

Wasn't Wakka all awkward with Tidus because he wanted to avoid 'anything happening' between Tidus and Yuna? He says something in that regard in Besaid and then puts Yuna off it when she asks him in Kilika Wood. With Rikku however, nothing would happen between them (obviously) and since Auron agreed and Tidus said how she helped him when he first came to Spira it gave Wakka nothing to say against her.

He only really started being against her after the Brother incident in Macalania, so ya, i'd say it's more that Yuna wouldn't develop loving feelings (in that way) for Rikku that she could with Tidus, especially with how fascinated Yuna is with Zanarkand etc.

Wakka didnt know at the time Yuna and Rikku were related as many have pointed out. I think by now Yuna was more strong-willed and Wakka went along with whatever Yuna wanted. No sense in arguing with her lol :D

I believe that Wakka opened up a bit easier due to the mounted pressure of the pilgrimage. There had already been several instances of Yuna being in danger in rather simple terms (ie kidnap) and then Operation Mihen. So having another guardian would not be viewed as bad.

Also, having the endorsement of practically everyone on the team for Rikku silenced any challenge what-so-ever.

I believe it was ultimately Aurons judgement that made Wakka stay quiet on the matter, i do however find it strange that the highly racist Wakka didnt catch on to Rikku being Al Bhed the eyes were a dead give-away but these things happen

OMG!! HE IS SO RIGHT! ROFL!!! but yeah... Wakka knows that just because he does not trust someone does not mean he can stop Yuna from saying or doing anything. He will just be paranoid and watch them at all times.
