Another release from Square-Enix, another bit of anti-piracy. Square-Enix is pretty infamous for employing some fairly unique ways to try and keep pirates away from enjoying their software through illegal manners. We've come to find that pirated versions of Dragon Quest VI won't allow the player to get past the intro cinematic. That intro will repeat over and over again for as long as the pirate tries to play. Let's see how long this new measure lasts against the piracy crowd.

Someone online will have that figured out by the end of next month at the latest and there will be ROMs available for it all over the internet. If it can be written, it can also be taken apart, so to speak.

Yeah, it's a bit stupid really. They've had anti-piracy measures for several of their latest games including DQV, DQIX and Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days and they were all cracked within a few hours. Announcing things like that just makes me think people are more likely to try and crack it :wacky:

Is there a secret SE doesn't reveal? :wacky:

Way to draw attention to their new anti-piracy scheme by blurting it out. It kind of spoils the unpleasant surprise to the player playing it illegally, and it will just attract people to have a go at cracking it, which is just what you said Ryan, I agree with that.

It will be cracked no doubt. The question is when. That will be something actually worth posting on Twitter if you're the first to manage it. :8F:

As said above it's a really smart thing to announce their new anti piracy. Like really? Do they have no common sense? I'll be surprised if no one playing it illegally can't get into it-- but, I highly doubt that will happen. If they manage to do it illegally I'm sure they'll find a way to get pass SE's "anti piracy"
