Square Enix “looking into” Final Fantasy IX on PlayStation Network [3/20]

Square Enix has already brought the masterpieces that are Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy VIII and Final Fantasy Tactics to the PlayStation Store. They’ve each pulled in nothing but extra revenue for the publisher, so what about Final Fantasy IX?

Final Fantasy IX producer Shinji Hasimoto has confirmed on Twitter that “We’re looking into it.”

It’s extra money for Square. Nobody dislikes extra money. It’ll happen. Trust me.

It would definitely be extra money for them. I think they should bring it to PSN, especially for those who haven't played the game. A lot of people no longer own PSX or PS2 and the newer PS3's don't have backwards compatibility. It would be an all around win situation.

I probably wouldn't buy it since I still have my two copies and my PSX and PS2. :wacky:
 
I am all for this! I can't wait to get my PS3 and play FFVII and FFVIII (and tactics is on there? *adds to list*) and now possibly FFIX?
This will make my incomplete life that much more complete (still hasn't finished 5-9...and ashamed of it)
 
Will buy it as soon as it is released in EU. Can't wait to visit Black Mage Village again!
 
Though unsurprising, I'm glad that they're considering bringing FFIX to PSN. Hopefully it will be received well this time because when FFIX was first released, it's visuals seemed to be off-putting and it was overshadowed by FFX. I imagine that many people haven't played it beforehand. I already have an old copy of the game though, so there won't be any reason for me to get this.
 
SE putting FFIX on the PSN is pretty much a way for them to print money. I saw on Digital Spy that FFVII is the most downloaded PSN title and FFVIII is the second most downloaded. FFIX will happen sometime this year, for sure.
 
It's been a long time since I played the game, and since I can't find any copies and can't buy on the 'Net without the use of a credit card -- and I DISLIKE credit cards -- it appears PS3 and PSN are my only hope of re-living this game. I'm definitely for it!

Man I gotta get a PS3 :gonk:

I can't afford to scratch ffvii, viii and ix anymore. If they release ffix on PSN I'm totally investing.

With regards to whether or not it'll happen, where there's money to be made...
 
I can't wait. Although I still have to beat a bunch of them, this will come before them all, especially with all of the positive feedback from it. It's the highest rated FF on Metacritic, after all.
 
Oh this is just awesome. I lost final fantasy IX long ago but I did finish it. Now is my oppurtunity to play it again on ps3 or psp ^_^ I cant wait since they are planning it!
 
i already brought 7 on psp, thinking about 8.. if 9 did, i would get it stright away :)
 
I really really REALLY hope they decide to bring FFIX to the PSN network. I downloaded FFVII and FFVIII on there and have played them. I still have to download FF Tactics so that will hold me over until they decide to bring in FFIX.

I don't see why the wouldn't though. VII and VIII were top selling for a very long time, and I believe they are still in the top five PSone classic downloads.
 
I can see this happening towards the end of the year, or perhaps as early as the summer. I don't see why they wouldn't release it via PSN - I doubt it'd be particularly difficult, and it'd sell.

I don't know if I'd get it, though...I despise FFIX. I always have. Although I wasn't particularly keen on FFXII when I first tried it either, and now its one of my favourite FF games. Perhaps I'll like IX now that I'm a bit older. Who knows. It'll depend on my mood, my current financial position and what else I have on the go if/when its released.
 
Hopefully it'll happen. SE probably just wanna do some market research and be sure that the majority of PS3 and/or PSP owners want it before they put it on PSN. It doesn feel like it's needed, but let's just wait till SE found out for themselves.

I'll be downloading it. I think I can see it coming third on PSN most downloaded. :wacky:

I hope it happens as soon as summer. I haven't played IX yet but I really want to to see what it's like. I've heard mixed opinions. Some people adore the game, some despise it.

I haven't bought anything off of PSN yet, but FFIX will definitely be something to look into. One of my top fave FF games, and I have no qualms about buying it a second time on the go ^^
 
It's good to know that they're looking into it. I mean, it's not like any bad will come out of it if anything, it'll make more money for SE.

I love IX! Though, I have a copy already so, there's no real reason why I need it on the PSN but for those who don't have it can get it on the PSN.

I say the should go for it
 
I should hope they are "looking into it". If FFVII and FFVIII were released on PSN you'd think they'd release FFIX too. It's only fair on the game.

I think there's a lot of people that would love to download FFIX as it has a large fanbase. Not as large as the other two, perhaps, but a large group gather together to preach how FFIX is the underlooked Final Fantasy, and therefore this should be profitable. A lot of people are wanting to try this game out too.

I hope they do it, though I already have a copy of FFIX. I'd just like to see it happen.
 
If they put out FFIX and Chrono Cross on the PSN, you bet your ass I would be getting both of them the day they came out. :mokken:
