Square Enix might announce Project X next week [6/2]

Looks like Square Enix is readying the announcement of their “shocking” most likely western RPG set to “blow your socks off”. A new tweet from the firm’s David Hoffman teases the announcement “very soon”, possibly “next week”.

“Looks like we will be announcing Project X very soon,” Hoffman wrote in the tweet. “Fingers crossed for next week! Won’t you miss the suspense?”

Look forward to next week – where we’ll see whether or not the Project X announcement is made.

Whatever it is, it's not going to really "blow (my) socks off". I'm hardly ever surprised by game announcements lately. Still, I'm looking forward to seeing what it's going to be though. I still have a feeling that I'm not going to be amazed, but I do hope SE proves me wrong somehow.

Next week I have an exam. Let's hope the announcement is more exciting than an English Literature exam. :dave:

To be fair, any game that's western developed nowadays is far better than anything than comes out of Japan for the past few years.

Hmm I partially disagree...Japanese Games FAIL becuz they focus too much on western elements in the first place (FPS aspect etc.), if they stick to their own formula ? what then? But I might be wrong though... my knowledge of games etc. in details = pretty much minimal. Im not a pro gamer.

Putting that aside, im wondering what will blow our socks off, ...shit.. sometimes Im bearfoot in slippers.

Well in that case it would supposedly blow your slippers off, then. If you aren't wearing slippers either, it might be ugly if it blows your feet off.

I wouldn't worry too much about this though, I've learned to not get my hopes up much at all for SE's announcements... Sad, but odds are they end up being lame announcements, so reasoning for my low expectations are justified, thanks to Square Enix. >.>

Out of all the game developers I actually give a damn about these days, Square Enix is the one developer that teases people like this in the most vague of manners. It's become so annoying that I just can't help but be unenthusiastic when they pop up.

As seeing as this project will probably be a western-developed RPG, it instills some hope in me that it will be a decent game. Of course, not everything that comes out of Japan is crap nowadays - but sadly it is the majority. Western developers are considered dominant nowadays while Japan is sinking into the wilderness.

Here's hoping at least that a western developer can breathe new, interesting ideas into something that SE usually rushes through the door.

Sorry, but I can't agree. I played games that came out of Japan more than anything else, so whatever loss of faith you guys are facing, I'm not feeling it *shrugs*

There have only been a couple of western games I liked but none of them were RPGs, so I think it's more of a genre thing.

If you wanna be blaming Square-Enix specifically, then I can kind of see what you mean - although I still like Square games too xD

Not really a shit Rpg. You cant judhe when you know nothing about it yet Cali babe xDDDD But in all fairness I think it will ot be a dissapointment. Also I agree with Fusion that Japanese games are awesome. But western developped can be awesome too.

The more Square Enix teases us with this, the bigger the possibility that I will be disappointed by this. They already had us waiting in our seats patiently all for a web browser game, I just can't take this Project X seriously every time this guy teases us with these hints.
