Square Enix’s Larry Sparks has said that the firm will continue to support PSP and PSPgo with “disk-based and digital content”.

Speaking to MCV, the PAL brand exec pointed at the success of both Dissidia: Final Fantasy and Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII.

“The PSP is a great portable device, for both disk-based and digital content. We continue to support this platform and work within the market conditions to ensure our software releases are successful.

“Crisis Core and Dissidia Final Fantasy have been successful releases and we intend to continue this pattern with Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep,” he further added.

“The brand, the quality of each game and careful release timing, have all contributed to previous successful releases on the platform.”
Last night, SCEA said the PSP will get a “robust” line-up this year in both first- and third-party terms.

So they're gonna keep releasing UMD games, right? Well that's good. I really have no desire to get the Go! since I won't be able to play the UMDs I own. I know some people have different opinions, but I don't mind sticking with tangible disks.

I think so :hmmm: But I agree, the PSPGo! doesn't appeal to me either, I'm not even appealed by digital content either tbh. I don't mind DLC and stuff but full on games, give me the disk anyday :awesome:

Nice one, Ive still got my old skool PSP and not getting a GO or downloading anything anytime soon lol. However, Im tempted to download FFVIII from the PSN store. But coolio, great news :-)

Well, this is awesome news.

I've been in need of some PSP games, and what better way to fill my collection than with SE games. :ryan:

However, I don't think that Crisis Core and Dissidia were successful just because they were on the PSP. If they were on, say, the PS3, sales probably would have been the same, or greater.

That's a relief, I really didn't wanna have to fork over money for a PSPGo. IGame cartridges is a small price to pay (literally, I can't see them doing many offers for downloads, plus no GAME points to save up D= )

I'm glad I'll still be able to get FF games on my normal PSP though, especially considering that SE seems to booming with the PSP games.

I agree. I have a PSP and the Go! doesn't interest me in the slightest >.> IMO it was a mistake to make it in the first place.

I think they could have been greater :ahmed:

This is pretty good news. I mean im not generally a fan of psp games because I dont have that many. I like never play Dissidia Final Fantasy anymore. It would be really fun if it was on 360 or ps3 because of online fun. Im looking forward to Agito and that probably is the next psp game I want :hmmm:

I have a Go! and I'm glad they will keep putting games onto the store for PSP downloads, just hoping that one day the put Crisis Core and/Dissidia on there as I want to play both of them but ibviously only having a Go! and never having had any other sort of PSP before thie I haven't had the opportunity to do so.

Good news to hear. Heard it earlier actually.

The Go wasnt a bad idea, but the fact that the battery life is only around 3-4 hours is horrible considering the original PSP is better.

The PSP 2000 and 3000 are worth the upgrade though since they help with load times. Crisis Core loads twice as fast with one.

I certainly welcome this idea. The PSPGo is simply too unnecessary and expensive for me considering I still have my old PSP that is (hopefully) still functional. The PSP needs more support anyway as the DS seems to be having a lot of the 3rd party handheld games support while the iPhone is quickly becoming a threat to the two consoles as well.

Eh, the iphone is not a serious games machine. Unless you count little stupid flash games.

I dont see why people see the DS as having so many more better games than the PSP. I have both, but honestly, the DS does have more games, but the majority of them are utter garbage.

I honestly think the DS and PSP have just as many good games on the systems.

It is certainly good news indeed :D im glad to hear that their still supporting the PSP and whatnot. Though the GO isn't really needed considering the PSP itself seems to be doing just fine. The Ds has pretty good games as well but the PSP is just as good. And I agree with the iPhone...stupid flash games xD I perfer it on the PSP and DS anyday.

Okay, maybe I'm missing something, but Crisis Core isn't on the PSN. So how am I supposed to be able to download it onto my Go?

That's the annoying thing. I heard somewhere that SE has no intentions of re-releasing Crisis Core for download - which is a reason why I will never bother with the PSPGo. >_>

I don't see the iPhone as being a serious, proper games console either - I just stated what other people have said. I'm not a huge fan of the range of gaming apps available either so it wasn't an opinion.
