Square Enix’s “Project X” will “blow your socks off”

Last month, Square Enix PR Sonia Im mentioned working on an unannounced game from the publisher that will “shock” you. Today, Square Enix producer David Hoffman mentions a Square Enix game known as “Project X”, and hints at it being a collaboration between Square Enix and an unlikely developer.

“[David Hoffman] is knee deep in review for Project X,” wrote the Square Enix producer in a Twitter update. “When revealed it will blow your socks off! The media thought SE and GPG was interesting – just wait!”

For those unaware, “SE and GPG” refers to the collaboration between Square Enix and Gas Powered Games on development of Xbox 360 and PC’s Supreme Commander 2 – an unlikely collaboration. What does Square Enix have in store this time?

I guess it sounds cool, but I'm not going to be too excited. There is no way this can be better than the old Final Fantasies or Kingdom Hearts. Maybe the graphics and battle system will be good. I don't know, when someone says "This will blow you away." I tend to think they are too cocky or something. Only real geniuses don't take pride in their own work.

Really, for them to keep making press releases just to tell us that there's something exciting going on...it feels like they just want to stall for time and try to keep people interested, because they know it will be a while before the game comes out. So to me this really says nothing about whether the game is good or bad.

Really? I'll just wait for their announcement then and see for myself. Chances are - it's probably not going to to be anything that will really excite me. It will just be a game SE is going to publish for the west at the most. It just depends what this game is. It probably won't even be an RPG at all.

When they say "unlikely developer", it just means that SE's name will be on the box when you really don't expect it to be.

Im fairly certain it'll be a bunch of FF type charecters waging war with other continents....wait isnt that similar to FF-Agaito?
SE is just desperate to start apealing to a greater genre of people I suppose and as much as I like the military very few "War" Type games appeal to me....

SE continuously making announcements about how this game will be epic and "knock our socks off" so to speak only convinces me that I really won't be that impressed when the game comes out. I rarely get excited for games anymore, tbh; I think FFXII proved a game can be hyped as much as possible and still fail to impress.

I'm going to say until I at least play a demo of this game, I won't bother getting excited over it. Unless it's a completed remake of Xenogears, in which case I will build a shrine to SE and make offerings to it daily.

Supreme Commander 2 needs more credit aimed at GPG and less at SE. From what I read regarding Supreme Commander it was a fantastic RTS, I doubt SE had much input into it and remained what they were meant to be doing - publishing the game, not developing it.

Also, who the hell is David Hoffman? I place no trust in a guy who reminds me of the Hoff >.>

Probably going to be yet another game that is trying to be more westernized. Which means, I dont want it. Capcom keeps trying to doing it and making boring looking games with lame characters. Frank West anyone? I dont see the big idea about him. He is just a guy in regular clothes that looks like it took 3 seconds to think up.

Last time SE said they had something up and everyone was getting all excited. Thinking it was IX release but really it was something else? Yeaaaaah, I don't think i'm going to get my hopes up too high.

I'll wait and see for myself as to what it is.

Its as I predicted, due to the lowered expectation of fans pregame hype is down on the announcement of a new S-E PRG/game, with this synthesis of propaganda and hearsay
its a disappointment to hear that kind of reaction.

I'm not going to say "i told you so" but just read the post its not garnering much positive hype, people are reserving the right of judgement so they are not let down.

I find the prospect of a new S-E game exciting, given what they have done in the past they deserve that much.....i think,

Like Kaylee Im not too excited just yet and yes Hoffman reminds me of David Hasslehoff xDDDDD I thought that right away lol. I hope it will be a good game but its too eraly too tell. Also Supreme Commander 2 looks good

God if it were a remake of either VII or VIII, then I would definitely play FF games again. I just don't find newer games as great and depth as its predecessors. But please SE, if it's another KH game, balance it out with more FF worlds, fighting in Disney all over again sure is getting old. Oh and no more weirdo ideas like FFX-2 Charlie's Angels

That's probably the most interesting depiction of Rinoa (at least it looks like her) I have ever seen.

Yeah, it is definitely fake for many reasons. One of them is the logo itself. I haven't got to that bit in FFVIII for a long time now so I could be wrong, but it looks like Ultimecia's Griever is on the logo. xD

I'd very much doubt it's anything to do with VIII, that "fake" logo has been knocking around for some time now, and chances are it's slapped on top of an image of a Japanese character from a different game.
